Chapter 2

1678 Words
The next morning, her mother came into her room to wake her up. "Good morning, Alexa," she said, trying to sound cheerful. "It's your big day today. You need to get ready for your wedding." Alexa groaned and buried her head under her pillow. She didn't want to get married, and the thought of spending the rest of her life with a stranger made her stomach churn. "I can't do this, Mom," she said, her voice muffled by the pillow. "I can't go through with this wedding." Her mother sat down on the bed beside her and stroked her hair. "I know it's hard, Alexa. But you have to be strong. This is a big sacrifice you're making for our family, and we're all counting on you." Alexa sat up and looked at her mother. "But I don't even know him. What if I don't like him? What if he's a bad person?" Her mother took her hands and looked into her eyes. "We wouldn't let anything bad happen to you, Alexa. Your father has made arrangements to make sure that you'll be taken care of. And who knows? Maybe you'll learn to love him over time." Alexa sighed and nodded. She knew her mother was right, but it didn't make the situation any easier to bear. "Okay, I'll get ready," she said, resigning herself to her fate. Her mother smiled and helped her get out of bed. They spent the next few hours getting her ready for the wedding, with her mother fussing over her dress, hair, and makeup. As she stood in front of the mirror, looking at herself in her wedding dress, she felt a mix of emotions: fear, uncertainty, and a sense of resignation. She didn't want to get married, but she had no choice. The wedding was a blur of activity, with guests coming and going, and Alexa going through the motions of the ceremony. She barely even looked at Ethan, the man she was marrying, and she felt numb inside. As the wedding came to an end, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had done what was expected of her, but she couldn't shake the feeling that her life would never be the same again. As the wedding festivities came to a close, Alexa was escorted out of the venue by her new husband, Ethan. She didn't know what to say to him, and the silence between them was deafening. As they climbed into Ethan's exotic vehicle, Alexa felt a wave of anger and frustration wash over her. She was yet to recover from the shock that her parents had forced her into this marriage, and the thought of spending the rest of her life with Ethan filled her with dread. "Why did you agree to this?" she burst out, unable to contain her anger any longer. Ethan looked at her, surprised by her sudden outburst. "What do you mean?" "I mean this marriage," she said, her voice rising with emotion. "Why did you agree to marry someone you barely know? Do you even know me?" Ethan ignored her. As they rode in silence, Ethan suddenly turned to Alexa and gave her a sarcastic look. " On second thought, you don't look bad," he said, his voice low and husky. "I can't wait to taste your lips and feel your body tonight." Alexa felt a wave of disgust wash over her at Ethan's remark. She couldn't believe that he was trying to be intimate with her after everything that had happened. "Don't you dare touch me," she spat out, moving further away from him. "I'm not interested in your advances, Ethan. We just got married, and I don't even know you. I don't want to be forced into anything I don't want to do." Ethan's expression hardened, and he leaned back in his seat, clearly annoyed. "Fine," he said icily. "If that's the way you want it, then so be it. But you should know that as my wife, you are expected to fulfil your duties. I won't tolerate a disobedient wife." Alexa rolled her eyes at his words. She was annoyed that he was still trying to assert his authority over her. She knew that she had to find a way to assert her independence, but she didn't know how. For now, she decided to remain quiet and wait for the right time to make her move. She knew that she had to be careful, as Ethan seemed like a man who would not take kindly to disobedience. Without warning, he pulled her close and brought his lips down on hers in a passionate kiss. Alexa was initially caught off guard, but she couldn't help but respond to his kisses. Her body seemed to respond on its own accord, and she found herself opening up to him. But just as quickly as it had started, Ethan abruptly stopped the kiss and pulled away. "Well, well, well," he said, a smirk forming on his lips. "Looks like my disobedient wife isn't so immune to my charms after all." Alexa felt her cheeks burn with anger as she pushed Ethan away. "Don't you dare flatter yourself," she said, her voice cold and clipped. "I only responded to your kisses because I had no other choice. You forced yourself on me, Ethan. Don't ever try that again." Ethan's expression hardened, and he took a step closer to Alexa. "Listen, Alexa," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "We are married now, and I expect you to fulfil your duties as my wife. You will do what I say, and you will do it without question. Is that clear?" Alexa stood her ground, her eyes blazing with defiance. "I am not your slave, Ethan," she said. "I am a human being with my own thoughts and feelings. I will not be treated like some sort of property. You may be my husband, but that doesn't give you the right to force yourself on me or control me in any way." The ride was quiet and tense as Alexa couldn't stop thinking about what awaited her. She tried to distract herself by looking out of the window at the passing scenery, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Ethan and their future together. When they arrived at Ethan's house, Alexa felt uneasy as they stepped out of the car. She was still seething with anger over Ethan's previous comments, but she tried to keep her emotions in check. As they stepped out of his car, they were welcomed by a group of servants. They bowed and greeted Ethan before turning their attention to Alexa, welcoming her with smiles and nods. Ethan then turned to Alexa, placing a hand on her back and leading her inside. He introduced her to the head maid, a middle-aged woman named Mrs. Wilson, who curtsied respectfully and introduced herself. "Welcome home, Mrs. Jones," Mrs. Wilson said warmly. "I am Mrs. Wilson, the head maid and your personal maid. Please let me know if there is anything you need." Alexa forced a smile, grateful for the woman's kindness. "Thank you, Mrs. Wilson. It's nice to meet you." Ethan then took Alexa's hand and led her through the halls of the grand house, pointing out various rooms and explaining their purposes. Alexa tried to take it all in, but her mind was still reeling from everything that had happened. Alexa followed Ethan into the bedroom, taking in the luxurious surroundings. The room was elegantly decorated with a king-sized bed, ornate bedside tables, and a large wardrobe. As Ethan closed the door behind them, he turned to Alexa, a sly smile on his lips. "Now, my dear wife, let us begin our new life together. Alexa's heart sank at the realisation that she was going to be spending every night in this room, with Ethan as her husband. She forced herself to stay composed as Ethan continued to speak. "You should get undressed." he said, his voice low and husky. "I'll be joining you shortly." Alexa felt a lump form in her throat as she realised what he was asking of her. She knew that they were married now, but the thought of being intimate with a man she barely knew was overwhelming. She removed her dress, showered, changed into a light pink nightie and got into bed. As she laid in bed, she felt a tingle of excitement mixed with fear. She couldn't deny that her body had responded to Ethan's touch, and she was afraid of what that might mean for their future together. A few minutes later, Ethan joined her in bed, his eyes burning with desire. He wasted no time in claiming her lips once again, and this time Alexa found herself responding eagerly. Their kisses grew more intense, and before long Ethan was exploring her body with his hands. She tried to push him away, but her body betrayed her once again, responding to his touch with desire. As he started to remove her nightgown, she found herself torn between the excitement of the moment and the fear of what was to come. She knew that she didn't love Ethan, but she couldn't deny the attraction she felt for him. But just as things were starting to heat up, she suddenly pushed him away. "Stop!" she said, her voice trembling. "I can't do this. I'm sorry." Ethan looked at her, a mixture of anger and disappointment in his eyes. "What's the matter, Alexa?" he said, his voice cold. "Can't handle being a wife?" Alexa shook her head, her eyes filling with tears. "It's not that," she said. "I just...I don't know if I'm ready for this. I barely know you, Ethan. How can we be expected to be intimate when we don't even know each other?" Ethan's expression softened slightly, but there was still a coldness in his eyes. "We'll get to know each other, Alexa," he said. "But for now, you need to fulfil your duties as my wife. You can't back out now."
