Chapter 5 Lila's POV I woke up with a jolt, a strange pang of guilt tugging at my chest. The memories rushed back like a flood, how I lashed out at the quadruplets, the rage that consumed me, and the final words Kai said before everything went dark. A sinking feeling settled in my gut. Was this the Moon Goddess’s way of punishing me for daring to stand against them? I opened my eyes and gasped. This wasn’t my room. I glanced around, trying to place the unfamiliar surroundings. The walls, the furniture, none of it looked familiar. “Where am I?” I murmured to myself, panic creeping into my voice. Maybe I’m dead. Maybe this is heaven, I thought, my chest tightening. Suddenly, a voice broke through my thoughts. “Nice to meet you.” Startled, I whipped my head around, searching for the source of the voice. But no one was there. Fear prickled my skin. “Who’s that?” I whispered, my voice shaking. “It’s your wolf,” the voice replied, calm yet powerful. “I said, nice to meet you.” The realization hit me like a thunderbolt, and happiness swelled in my chest. My wolf. I finally have my wolf. I was about to respond when another voice interrupted from the window. “Oh, you’re awake,” someone said. I turned to find a maid standing by the window, her expression neutral as she addressed me. “Yes, I’m awake,” I replied, standing up cautiously. “Where am I?” The maid tilted her head, giving me a puzzled look. “Don’t tell me you don’t know? This is Lucien’s room.” Her words made my heart race. “What? Lucien’s room? What am I doing here?” I stammered, my voice rising in panic. “You were unconscious when Lucien brought you here yesterday,” she explained. “He took care of you and called the pack doctor to check on you. The doctor said you needed rest, so Lucien was instructed to make sure you slept properly.” Her tone turned dismissive. “I suggest you go back to bed. You need more rest.” With that, she walked away, leaving me stunned. I sat back down on the bed, my mind racing. How did I end up here? What happened to me? I wasn’t injured or sick, so why did the pack doctor think I needed rest? None of it made sense. I couldn’t sit still any longer. I needed answers. I stood up and walked to the door, opening it to find the hallway eerily quiet. The silence only amplified my unease. “What’s going on?” I muttered to myself. Then it hit me, today was the Half Moon Celebration, and everyone would be at the party. This was my chance. If I wanted to escape, this was the perfect moment. I was planning to take a step further when I saw a maid emerge from the hallways staring at her dress. “Hey, you!” I called walking closer, she stared like this was the first time she’d seen me. “How may I help you and why are you inside Alpha Lucien’s room?” She asked, her eyes raking my body. “Oh that,” I stood properly “he brought me here on his accord I never force him and talked about the Alphas, where are they?” I stated even though I knew they’d be inside the hall by now, I still couldn’t help but find out from a source. “If you are truly a member of this pack you should know the Alpha’ would be at the Celebration by now,” she replied. “Of course, I’m a member of this pack, I just asked to be confirmed, anyway thanks for your time,” I gestured toward the space that led to the hall. The maid glared at me before walking away my eyes following each of her steps. Once she’s out of sight a relieved breath rolled from my lips. Immediately the maid was out of sight everywhere went silent, the silence gave me courage. I looked around one last time, then started walking. At first, I moved cautiously, like a thief sneaking through the night. But as I neared the exit, confidence took over, and I picked up my pace. I was almost free. And then, a voice froze me in my tracks. “Where do you think you’re going?” I turned slowly, my heart pounding in my chest. The quadruplets stood behind me, their expressions dark and menacing. My stomach twisted as they started walking toward me. I instinctively stepped back, my body trembling. “No,” I whispered to myself. “This can’t be happening. Not now.” I turned to run, but Lucien’s voice stopped me. “If you take one more step, your head belongs to me,” he said, his tone ice-cold and unforgiving. I froze, unable to move. Tears pricked my eyes as I pleaded, “Please, just let me go. I swear you’ll never see me again. I’ll disappear. Please I’m pleading,” I whimper. The four of them exchanged a glance before bursting into laughter. The sound sent a shiver down my spine. “Can you explain what happened yesterday?” Lucien asked, his voice dangerously low. I opened my mouth to respond, but before I could say a word, a strange sensation washed over me. My mind went blank, and then, like a whisper in the wind, I heard a single word. Mate. I froze, my entire body locking in place. “Mate?” I whispered, barely able to form the word. “Yes, mate,” the voice confirmed, strong and certain. My knees wobbled, and I stumbled back, staring at the quadruplets with wide, disbelieving eyes. “No,” I murmured, shaking my head. “This can’t be real. It can’t be true.” How could they be my mates? These were the same people who had tormented me, humiliated me, and made my life a living hell. It didn’t make sense. “Which one of them?” I asked my wolf, desperation thick in my voice. “Which of them is my mate?” I waited, hoping she’d pick one, just one but her reply shattered me. “All of them.” The world tilted, and my chest tightened. “How?” I whispered, my voice breaking. “How can they all be my mates?”
