Wildflower
I wake up to the chilling early September morning. It's around midnight, I know some don't think it's morning but for me it is. I have to get ready for work soon. Wearing a pair of dark grey pants and a light blue almost silver long sleeve shirt. I walk to the bathroom that's attached to my room. Staring at me in the mirror is a girl just barely five feet five inches with silver hair and big bright golden eyes, with a small nose and lips with fair skin. I was told when I was little that my hair was black. It had turned silver when I was three. No one knows why it changed just that it did. After brushing my teeth and hair I started braiding my hair.
Putting my snow shoes in my bag just in case I needed them. I put my DC boots on which are black. I made sure I had my necklace and bracelets on before I shoved my arms into my coat, that's a rust color. There's a soft knock on my door. "Hey, Wildflower you awake?" Said a voice behind the closed door. I smile as I walk to the door knowing who was on the other side of the door.
Unlocking the many locks that made sure nothing could come in while I slept. I had wards up that stay up all the time, to make sure I don't have any supernatural creature just pop up any time they felt like it. Why you may ask let's just say I learned my lesson the hard way. As soon as I started opening the door a head popped in. There was my best friend George with his smile that makes every one swoon at him, well everyone but me. He looks to be twenty but I know he is much older than that. He has these beautiful hazel eyes that you can't help but stare, his sharp features and that mega wat smile, with a straight nose and full lips. I could see why people were drawn to him, it helped that he was half fae. I noticed he changed his hair color again to an electric blue, it was just purple yesterday.
"Good morning, did you sleep well?" George says swinging my door fully open as I head back to my bed to grab my bag. "The norm." I say as I walk out into the hallway. I shut the door and lock it. "Can't be to careful." I thought. Looking up to meet his eyes, which is a challenge for me since he is seven feet tall. " How's your day going so far?" I knew he had been awake since nine pm, that's when his day starts. I was also one of the few people allowed to get away with making prolonged eye contact with him with out it provoking his wolf. I wasn't his mate, we knew that. It broke his mother's heart the day I turned sixteen, to find out that we weren't mates.
"My mom been complaining about wanting grandchildren." George grumbled under his breath, the smile gone from his face. A normal human wouldn't of heard what he said but I did. No one could explain it and very few know about what makes me "special". That's what they call it since they don't know what I am. George's mom Abigail, is the alpha of the strongest pack called Eclipse. Her mate Branch, is of royal blood and he's fae. They have ten kids and George is the oldest with the youngest two being ten years old. Five of George's younger siblings have found their mates. George already has ten nieces and seven nephews and three of his siblings are expecting. "I'll go check on her before I start work, and don't worry I know she's out there. You'll find her soon." Knowing how he has been craving his mate even more since his little sister Ava found her mate and she's sixteen. He was struggling with his wolf more which is why he has been spending more time with me. I have always been able to calm his wolf.
. We think it might have something to do with the fact that he had found me on a full moon night surrounded by wild moon flowers. Moon flowers only appear on full moons, like you can't find the plant at all unless it's a full moon. The only place you can find the plant on any other night is in the moon lake on the other side of the mountain we lived on, but those flowers haven't bloomed in a few thousand years, or so I was told. Not many wild moon flowers had bloomed until the night I was found.
That's how I got my name, Wild Moon Flower. The fae believe that your name should be of an event that happened or what your element is. Well George had found me lying on a bed of wild moon flowers in amazement to see so many bloom. It was a day that went in the books as the Night of Bloom.
"I don't know how much longer I can wait little one." He sighs clearly troubled with what he said. "Hey, when have I been wrong? Are you questioning my mad skills?" Huffing at him, I was getting upset that he would dare to think I would say something so lightly. He stops me right before we reach the dinning room doors. He looks at me for a second, like he was looking for a hint of a lie to what I said. "You're right I know you don't say things like that just to make someone feel better. Alright I can do this, I will wait for my mate. Thank you Wildflower." He seemed lighter almost excited at the thought of meeting his mate soon. A smile creeping on to his face.
"Oh my goodness, did I just hear my big brother is going to meet his mate soon?" Ava squeals form the doorway of the dining room. Everyone and I mean everyone is staring in our direction. Abigail pops up from her seat and runs full speed to us. "Is it true?" She asked as soon as reaches us coming to an abrupt stop, looking between the two of us with tears in her eyes. "Are you going to meet your mate soon?" She asked with so much hope in her voice. "Yes mama I will be meeting my mate very soon." George says in a gentle voice, with that mega wat smile back on his face. She looks at me searching for truth, I just nod my head with a smile.
"Oh my, oh my, I have so many things that have to get done before she gets here." Abigail says in a panic. "I'll help you when I can, but for now I need to eat then I need to get to work." I say as I head towards the table to my seat. "George can help you at work. George you are to stay by Wildflower until you find your mate is that understood?" Abigail responded right behind me. "Yes ma'am." George says knowing there is nothing he can say to change her mind. I didn't have the time to sit down, since I would have to tell George what the game plan for today was. I grabbed an apple, two oranges and five muffins. Our cooks are the best, I try to help them when ever I can. The whole pack loves when I'm in there cooking.
"Does this mean George is to change to my sleeping time or I his, Luna?" I ask looking the luna in the eyes. "One of these days I will have you call me grandma, my sweet little Wildflower. The answer to your question is George can switch to your sleep time. I am already bothering you with having to deal with him." She said while giving me a look a loving mother would give to her child. I always wondered if my birth mother gave the same look, if she had loved me why abandoned me? "Mama, I'm not that bad." George grumbled. I smile looking at his discomfort. "I'll take care of him don't worry." Looking back at the Luna when I said this then turned back to my friend with a big smile on my face. "Let's go before we're late."
