Rise of the new Students

After knowing the exact location of all the students in this area he was finally able to calm down and plan his next move.

This meant that only Kiran among the new student had succeeded In killing an old student, while the old students had succeeded in killing 20 new students in total. This was expected as the old student were far stronger than the old students.

Next to the screen showing the total points obtained by the students was another screen showing the full map of the forest where the tournament was held, on it, they were small dots in yellow and black color, these dots were representing the location of each student on the map and also when a student dies his dot will disappear from the map.

While the last screen, was more like a focused screen, showing highlights of special fights in the tournament, it will always lock on students who were performing well in the tournament.

"The new students this time around, have higher geniuses than the last batch, but their performance in this tournament is a bit sub-par"

A man sitting at the highest point inside the virtual control room said frowning, they had held a lot of expectations from this batch of new students, but were kind of disappointed in their performance, the total points between the new students and the old was just too much.

The tournament was a way for the Academy to gauge the progress of its students, but this performance indicated that the new students had not made any progress for the entire one month they had been there.

"Vice-principal, the tournament just started it's too early to start judging them"

Instructor Alex the energy evolution instructor said defending the new students,

"In this kind of fight to the death, it harder for the new students to win, most of them have not fought to death before, so most of them end up being killed by the old students, if the fights were just about defeating your opponent, am sure the results would have been different"

"Stop finding excuses for them, their progress so far has been disappointing"

Visible anger and worry could be seen on the vice principal face as he berated.

"The old students are weaker than the old students of the other Academies if they can't put up a reasonable fight against even them how can they deal with the students of other Academies, have you forgotten for some time now our batches of students have been weaker than the other Academies"

The instructors wanted to retort but as they heard the last statement, they all kept quiet, the Green city Academy has had the weakest student for some years now, and they knew the vice principal has always been worried about that, and if this kept happening their funding might be decreased by the government.

Another point increased for the new students, smiles could be seen on all the instructor's faces, as they saw that, they all scrambled their eyes toward the last screen to watch the highlights, they were all disappointed by what they saw, 9 new students had teamed up to kill a single old student, and it took them some effort before they finally killed the old student, though the old students they killed was one of the stronger old students, it was still disappointing seeing 9 people struggle to kill a single person.

One of the instructors finally remembered they had not looked at the scene of the first point the new student got, he quickly raised it, and the other instructors also supported him, in convincing the vice principal to bring back the scene, they all hoped it won't be as disappointing as the last scene they just watched.

The vice-principal agreed and brought up the scene, the scene began showing an old student with flames covering his entire hands, attacking a new student, they all praised the new student, as he always manage to defend against a stronger old student who was using a basic elemental technique.

They grew disappointed, as the battle went on, they could not see how the new student would turn the battle around in his favor, and just like they suspected, a few minutes passed and the old student activated a technique, throwing a flame that burned the new students to death.

The vice-principal sighed disappointingly, he was just about to remove the scene from focus before he remembered that, a new student got a point from that scene.

"Maybe that new student didn't die," he thought, resuming interest in the scene,

But a few seconds into it, he saw the student die, though dissatisfied he decided to watch the scene to the end.

All the instructors also gathered their attention to the screen, trying to see what would happen next. On the screen they could see Kiran, walking out from the forest, at the back of the student, now they finally saw the student who had made the point.

"Who is that," the vice-principal asked.

The instructors all looked at their faces, and none of them seem to recognize the figure of the student coming from the back of a tree.

"His face is been obscured, maybe it will be clearer if the image is magnified"

And so the image was magnified, they all saw the face of a handsome young man, with distracting glowing aurora-colored eyes.

"It's Kiran," Alex yelled, all the instructors were delighted as they saw the student was Kiran, they had all heard all about Kiran and how he was the top genius of this batch, he was even a dual body and energy evolutionist, he was not going to disappoint them.

The vice-principal had also heard about Kiran he had always wanted to meet the young man, this was a perfect opportunity to see how strong the boy was.

They could see how Kiran came from his hiding place, but instead of attacking the old student, he would always zoom to the back of the student, making the old student unable to find him.

"What is he doing, the old student has already used most of his energy using that last technique to kill the other student, this is the beat time to attack,"

One of the instructors uttered, the other instructors also thought the same, only the vice principal was still calmly looking at the scene, he had noticed how fast Kiran had always moved to hide from the old student, with his keen eyes he could see small fluctuations of aurora colored elemental energy, whenever Kiran zoomed off.

The scene continued with Kiran, always startling the student and then hiding.

"Now he has lost his opportunity to attack, the student has already gotten back his lost energy"

"That may not be so," the vice-principal said smiling.

"Vice-principal did you notice anything strange"

"Can you see how fast Kiran always moves to evade the detection of the old students" Alex finally said?

"At least one of you has noticed"

The vice-principal said

"He is not running away from the old student, that fast movement is a basic elemental ability, with his strength after mastering the basic elemental manual, he should be able to fight the old students equally, even if the student was in his full strength, he is toying with the old student, he could take him out at any time, keep watching and see"

All the instructors, finally understand why Kiran was always avoiding the old student, he would always let his presence known before disappearing into nothingness.

Back to the fight, they could see the old student laughing after he had recovered back his energy, they could see the confidence in the old student's eyes.

And like a lamp, showing it's last glimmer, the student's neck was caught easily and broken by Kiran, the student didn't even see who had killed him before he died.

The vice-principal openly laughed, the other instructors were also delighted, after watching Kirans fight.

And just as they finished watching Kirans highlight, two yellow dots disappeared from the screen showing map of the tournament, and the screen showing the total point also refreshed, the points were now, 20 points to the old students, while the new student had 4 points.

The new students had just killed two old students, all the instructors turned toward the last screen waiting for the highlight of the fight to be shown,

On the screen they could see, the scene of two old students besieging a new student, and then violent cracking lighting, flashed and both of the old students were dead.

"Who is that student"

The principal asked with interest.

The destruction of the violent lighting had covered the scene, so no one managed to see the student's face, after a few seconds the student finally appeared.

"That Jian Zhi, son of the Jiang family head, was the third in the entrance exam, and was only in the 4th level of basic evolution when he entered the Academy, but has managed to reach the 7th level of basic evolution within a month" one of the instructors explained in awe.

Jiang Zhi had been silent since he entered the Academy and had not done any special feats, they were all surprised by how strong he had become, he had even learned an elemental technique.

Immediately Jiang Zhi's scene finished playing it was immediately followed by another scene, a girl could be seen facing a strong old student, both of them were about to face each other, clusters of light came falling from the sky, covering the entire 50 meters around both the two students.

They had exchanged blows, and no one came out better than the other.

"Star fall" The girl uttered, and the lights gathered all around her, then she directed it to the old students, the lights moved towards his entire body, the old student, could feel the lights, we're so heavy and cold, even before they reached him, as the first light touched his body, he felt as if a heavy cold stone had hit his body, the lights came rushing towards his body killing him, without him been able to defend.

"This new student is," the vice-principal asked with light shining in his eyes.

"She is Airra Star, my niece, the head of the Star family's daughter" Alex answered.

"Just like Jiang Zhi she was also in the 4th level of basic evolution during the entrance exam, but has managed to reach the 8th level of basic evolution in one month"

"She even learned Starfall, this young" the vice-principal nodded " all of you from the Star family are always geniuses"

The total points were now 21 points to the old students while 5 points went to the new students. As the vice principal saw this, he was finally calm, all this while he had always been worried about the government reducing their funding, as their student were always the weakest, but this time the new students had not disappointed him, they were not weak.

Scenes played on the Screen showing exemplary students, until once again a scene came showing a young new student, succeeding in killing an old student, this increased the total points the new students had to 6, the old students still maintained the 21 points they had before.

The tournament this time around was very entertaining.

A lot of things decided a winner during the tournament, it was a fight to the death, so students had to use all the knowledge they had learned both from the Academy and also in the high school in other to survive, this included theoretical knowledge too, if you knew a lot about plants and trees, it could give you an advantage when fighting an opponent to death inside the forest.

Inside the virtual forest, Kiran was still moving, melding himself with the environment, still ignorant of the current points the new students had gotten.

"There's movement nearby"

Kiran felt some disturbance near where he was, he decided to check it out, he moved soundlessly until he was close to the place he had heard the disturbance, through the bushes he could see a student who was wearing a yellow suit, holding two short knives.

"An old student great!"

Kiran hid around the bushes, the old student, had heard a disturbance from where Kiran was and started walking towards the bushes, brandishing his two knives, preparing for any attack.

He reached the place Kiran was earlier but did not see anyone, so he relaxed his nerves lowering his sword, Kiran came out from the side throwing a single punch, disarming the student, his two knives, falling on the ground, Kiran followed his punch with a flurry of attacks towards the student's body, the old student tried parring the attacks, but Kiran attacks were too fast, he had activated his elemental ability, throwing super-fast punches.

The strong impact of the punches kept on pushing the student backward, even though he was strong enough to still be standing, he was still been beaten by Kiran.

As Kiran kept on punching the students, he was finally alarmed, he had been punching the student since, and the student had not been fatally injured, he knew the student was strong, but not as strong to be immune to all his punches, he finally decided to end it once and for all, he brought out his sword, willed his entire elemental energy into the sword, and was about to decapitate the student, when he finally saw the students face.

"what the hell is this"

as the moonlight illuminated the face of the students he was fighting, it turned out to be himself, the face looked exactly like Kiran, with Aurora colored eyes, the only strange thing there was that this Kiran was wearing a yellow suit indicating he was an old student.

"s**t, am I dreaming"

the yellow-clothed Kiran felt kirans hesitation and then looked through Kiran's Face.

"Kiran?"

"yes"

Kiran answered still puzzled about what was happening.

"damm you almost scared me"

a white light flashed and then a student wearing black appeared in front of Kiran.

Kiran was surprised the person who had resembled him turned out to be a new student in disguise.

"was that a technique"

"yes, it's my basic elemental ability"

"I thought an old student had recognized me, that's why I tried to confuse him"

"my name is Silas, you don't know me but I know you"

Kiran remembered the name Silas was the name of the student who had taken 4th in the Academy entrance exam.

he had not known the student physically and this was the first time he was meeting him.

no wonder he felt the student he was fighting was far weaker than he appeared.

Silas was pretty delighted as Kiran didn't turn out to be one of the old students, his technique was only good for confusion, he still didn't have the needed strength to face the strong old students.

"next time you should inform me earlier, I almost killed you"

"It was dark, there was no way I would have known it was you"

Kiran could not help but marvel at Silas's elemental ability, he was really surprised, as Silas had managed to buy an elemental manual.

he had discovered a lot of elemental techniques in this tournament, but this was the strangest.

as he talked to Silas trying to learn more about his Ability, he heard loud footsteps, moving towards them, this person was an old student, he wasn't even bothered about hiding his presence, he was rushing boldly towards them.

Silas also noticed the figure rushing furiously towards them.

"Kiran I will turn myself into an old student, I will ambush him as he fights you"

a light flashed and Silas turned into another student wearing yellow.

the students came rushing towards them, he saw Silas was wearing a yellow suit, so he went after Kiran, Kiran immediately tried to decipher the students Level, he sent his sense towards the student's body, and was surprised the student didn't bar his sense, the student was at the peak of the basic evolutionist, someone who had surpassed the 9 levels of basic evolution but had not entered the junior evolutionist realm. this was the strongest person Kiran had fought.

the old student threw a punch towards Kiran, even before the fists got to Kiran he already felt the air, rushing menacingly towards him.

"What a ferocious strength"

Kiran also threw a punch meeting the old student fists, Kiran was thrown back a little, he could feel little pains in his hand,

Kiran rubbed his numb hands and once again prepared to counter the student's punch that was rushing towards him, Kiran managed to doge three of the punches before the last one hit him, in his stomach, Kiran threw out blood from his lips, that punch had fatally injured him.

he drew back creating a space between the huge student and himself, he cleaned the blood coming from his mouth, this time he activated his elemental ability, an Aurora-colored light, laced with flames at the end appeared all around his body. he looked over at Silas, giving him a signal before he rushed towards the giant.
