The body index

Sunlight illuminated an orphanage, adding a glimmer of vitality to the tense atmosphere that covered the entire orphanage, in its training ground teenagers were lined up in rows waiting for the instructor, they had trained every day in waiting for today.

Footsteps could be heard as a 50-year-old man entered the training ground, Mr. Boyle, as he was called by everyone, used to be a gymnastic school teacher before the alien invasion, he was also one of the people who had fought the aliens. however, was injured and could no longer fight like he used to.

He had secluded himself in this orphanage to train teenagers in preparation for their cellular evolution as he no longer had any family left.

He stood at the front of the teenagers

The teenagers were in spirit after they heard Mr. Boyle's speech, washing the anxiety on their faces with a new fighting spirit.

She walked him through the garden to the back of the orphanage where the students were located, as they entered the training ground, Aron looked at the 50 students between the age group of 15 to 19 who were lined on four rows.

He had been specially assigned by the chief of the bureau to come to this orphanage at the far outskirts of the city, he had wanted to decline but the chief insisted, he looked at the students faces trying to discern any genius from among them but they all looked ordinary,

there was even a kid wearing dark glasses among them, he doubts there was anyone special among the students. He had never understood the chief's strange behaviors but he trusted the man's instinct,

"This is Mr. Aron an evolutionist from the federal bureau of the evolutionist, he will be the one to administer the test, All those who pass will be segmented into a new class and taught by Mr. Aron"

The headmistress said as she introduced Mr. Aron.

Aron exchange pleasantries with Mr. Boyle and the other teachers, the students all looked at the young man in a worshiping gaze, they had never seen an evolutionist before, they had heard stories about how strong and prestigious evolutionists were from their instructor Mr. Boyle.

A light shined at the ring worn by Aron, and flat metal equipment appeared in Aron's hands, he faced the astonished students who were dumbfounded by the equipment he brought out from nowhere, and said: "the ring on my finger is called a spatial ring, one of the equipment invented by the aliens, it contains a space where you can store and later bring out nonliving things, it can only be used by evolutionist."

Then he put the metal equipment he brought out of the spatial ring into the floor, and said." this equipment is called the body index scanner, it is used to scan the body index which means the level of strength your body has achieved, this test is completely going to be based on the body index scanner. Now am going to explain the body index listen carefully"

All the students turned to him attentively trying to hear what he wanted to say.

"the body index is simply, the strength of the entire human body, your bones, skin, organs, and even tissues, before the alien invasion all humans had the body index of 1 or lesser until the invisible energy appeared on earth.

The invisible energy is the energy that allows humans to undergo cellular evolution, it is the energy that is most paramount to evolutionists. The human body slowly absorbs this energy, leading to an increase in strength and endurance of the entire body system, you all have absorbed this energy unknowingly whenever you exercise, perform athletic activities, or during your combat training, all your bodies are stronger than the average body of a human before the alien invasion. This test is going to be based on how much your body is stronger than the average human before the invasion.

You would step on this equipment one after the other and your body index will be displayed, only people who have a body index of 10, will pass. "

The crowd of students went into an uproar murmuring to each other praying and hoping their body index reaches the pass mark.

Aron called the first boy in the middle row to step on the scanner, the boy walked anxiously towards the scanner

"8.5, failed next!"

The boy went limp as he heard Aron's voice, all his hope had dashed away as he heard Aron's voice,

Aron picked him up and placed him on the side, ushering another boy for the next scan, student after student failed to meet the requirement until the sixteen students passed, a white-skinned boy call Oscar, his body index was exactly 10, was one of the older students in the class, 19 years old, after Oscar passed the students regained their fighting spirit as at least 1 student had passed.

Zhu Fan one of the students was overjoyed, as he had always beaten Oscar during combat training, so his body strength was stronger than Oscar's.

"10.2 passed" another student Billy Hampton passed, Zhu fan looked at Billy, reassured of his conjecture as Billy was his close friend who had similar strengths to himself,

Five other students passed, and it was now Zhu Fan's turn, he walked majestically towards the scanner.

"10.8, passed" Aron's voice was heard again, Zhu Fan was overjoyed with his score, he had the highest mark among the student who passed, he walked back arrogantly looking at the other student, especially at Kiran with a smirk on his face, as if saying "look at me am stronger than all of you",

Kiran could not see his face and wasn't bothered by him.

Another girl Helen passed with a score of 10.5, making her the second student with the highest passing mark after Zhu fan.

9 students out of 50 had passed with all of them being 18 or 19 years old, only the weird kid wearing dark shade was left, Aron was disappointed "I don't know what chief was thinking sending me to this place" he thought.

Kiran slowly walked towards the scanner, Zhu Fan, and his friends mocked as Kiran moved, he climbed on the Scanner, a white light rose from under his feet slowly covering his body until it got to his head covering his entire body, this process took about 50 seconds and then 15 was displayed as his body index.

The crowd was shocked, Aron looked stunned he knew how difficult it was to increase the body index before becoming an evolutionist, and here was a young boy who looked about 16, increasing by 5 points, this was an absolute genius, he was overjoyed, he had caught a gem, this was probably why the chief had sent him here,

"He wouldn't be able to become an evolutionist, he is blind," a voice said hysterically dragging Aron back from his thoughts,

"young man, is he telling the truth Aron asked

Before he could answer Zhu Fan voice was heard again "Everyone knows he is blind as a bat, he wouldn't be able to become an evolutionist"

"I didn't ask you"

"young man is what he said the truth," Aron asked again

"Yes, sir I have been blind from birth"

"Blind is Blind, there's nothing like seeing shapes do you think we are three years old," Zhu Fan said laughing

Aron's eyes sternly looked at Zhu Fan, Zhu Fan shivered he felt like he had been targeted by a fierce monster readying to attack him, cold sweats were dropping from his face as Aron looked away.

Aron looked at Kiran with pity in his eyes, this was a once in a time genius, that could have shaken the world but was born blind, it wasn't possible to undergo cellular evolution when blind, countless scientists had looked for a way to remedy that but they were none.

"young man you should know, that it is not possible to be an evolutionist if you are blind, if you had undergone cellular evolutions before going blind, they are countless ways to cure that, but you were blind at birth, there is no known method of curing it, even transplanting of eyes wouldn't work."

"you have passed the test with the highest mark, there's nothing in the rules that say you can't join our class, but it will be better you don't, so as not to get your hopes up for nothing"

Aron advised

Mr. Boyle and other teachers also advised Kiran to drop out, the class.

But he was indignant, all his dreams of getting stronger and revenge on his family will all be washed away if he drops out

Aron liked Kiran's strong personality, strong will was needed to be an accomplished evolutionist.

He looked at other students who had failed the tests and looked sullen

"This is not the end of the road, Another instructor will be sent to the orphanage once each year, just like I came, All of you just need to double up your efforts and quickly get your body index into 10 and you can all become evolutionist".

The students regained back their smiles after Aron's speech.

The headmistress and the other teachers led the students who had failed to their classes, while Mr. Boyle, Aron, and the nine students who passed, were left on the training ground.
