Chapter 24 Megan walked to the front door, but before she could grab hold of the handle to pull it open, the security guard did it for her, motioning for her to come into the store. She found the pawnshop to be just as upscale as she had anticipated. An older woman dressed in a sophisticated, but simple style greeted her cordially. Her hair was pulled back in a tight bun, her makeup discreet, and her jewelry was a beautiful set of pearl earrings and necklace, obviously not imitation pearls. Megan glanced around, then looked back at the woman, deciding in an instant that the fabricated tale she had thought of on the way down would not do.
