904 Words

Chapter Forty-OneLunch was set for half past one, which allowed the Archbishop to attend the local church. It was a motley bunch but all dressed in their best attire. Ali was there with the Major and chatting to Drusilla; Freddie Sharpe was joking with Jim Billing and Tim Bates, and the Deputy was busy talking to a Middle Eastern lady whom Toby hadn’t seen before – of course she was the one who had been transformed by the the aura round the Deputy. He recognised the New Zealand newsman who was in animated conversation with the fierce-eyed cleric and the dark-suited Iranian Ambassador. The Prime Minister was there, of course, deep in conference with the Captain. Where was Tom Wynter? Ah, with his brother Richard and Lizzie. Bill was standing with his son and Toby walked across to join them.
