Prologue
"What are you?" My hand found its way to grasp my chest. Now that his gaze was on me, I could no longer move, not because I was restricted, but because my body won't listen to me like his gaze held me in rusty metal traps beneath my feet.
"Why should I tell you, blood sucker?" Even without looking into his eyes, I can tell from the sound of his voice that he is smirking. Steps grew louder on the open ground below, the silk scent of death mixed with wine and rose rushed in my nostrils.
Finally, I took steps back, wary of his presence. "Don't come near me," I warned him with a shaky snarl and tossed all of my hair onto one side, exposing the low neck of my billowing white gown. That's right. I was to marry my brother, my own flesh and blood! I don't think anything could be worse, other than death. Which is why I shouldn't be afraid of this man in front of me now.
Slowly, my head turned to look up to him. I expected a second but ended in three as I finally meet his eyes. He was tall. Enormous is an understatement.I felt like a mice standing under the shade of a tree.
The huge pendulum clock that sits at the tallest castle in our kingdom struck midnight. It was then that I realised, his eyes were dark. Darker than midnight without the moon. Yet I dared to look closer, my feet helping up to reach. His eyes were the colour of blood, just like mine, only his were so deep you would mistake it for raven.
He chortled, pushing my face away with his index finger that were surprisingly warm. From what he did earlier I didn't expect him to be warm. I had initially thought he was one of ours, but no one could do what he did, not even my father.
" I would," He kept smirking, his full brows being accentuated by the moon light. Jaws splendidly sculpted and lips that are thinly maneuvering his smirk. " You. Need. Me"
