Chapter Seven: The Feeling of being Abandoned.

Morning came and I was shocked when he was actually in bed lying there asleep snoring away. He must have gotten to bed pretty late because I didn't even feel him getting into bed and under the blanket. I gave a small smile as I snuck out of the covers and stood up. He moved a little but didn't dare wake up. I threw my hands up in victory that I didn't wake him up. I slid on my slippers and made it out of the room safely. Layla was also coming out of her room at the same time as she giggled, waving at me. I walked over to join her for breakfast as this was probably gonna be our usual doing. "Did you and my brother talk?" She asked, smiling as she moved inside the kitchen to get breakfast. Instead of cereal, she grabbed some toast for us and put it in the toaster, waiting for it to pop up. "We did and I told him how I felt about the whole thing with Sarah, but also slid in some ground rules about her not being around him or me anymore, oh and the whole bullying thing. I wont tolerate it." I told her while making a fresh pot of coffee for everyone. "You making orders? Hmm, my brother really has changed, huh." She chuckled, shaking her head as she handed me a cup for the coffee. "Growing up, he was the type not to be bossed around by anyone. Though, I guess you're different than everyone." She winked at me giggling. I laughed, shaking my head. "It wasn't anything major. Just a small thing that I know will irritate me and she is that thing apparently." "Mhm, she is everyone's probably, it seems. I heard she is getting a lot of smack from Emily." She said as the toast popped, She grabbed it, slid it on a napkin before handing me one as she grabbed some butter. "I only met Emily once. She seems like a cool person." I added while adding some butter to my toast and pouring myself some coffee while sitting down at the small table. "She is amazing. She takes care of my brother's financial things but also manages the women of the clan. Hence, why she had an issue with Sarah. Emily takes care of the punishment on the females and my brother focuses on the males." She explained to me, skipping over and taking a seat as well. I nodded my head listening to her speak about Emily. She was on my list of people to definitely get to know as she seemed like someone she wanted to be friends with down the line. I don't know how I feel about the whole punishment thing Marcus told me last night. A whip with silver on it on the back sounded painful. But who was I to tell him how to control his clan members? "Does silver hurt when whipped against the back area?" I asked curiously as she swallowed hard before answering me back. She nodded her head. "When someone gets punished, everyone has to watch and learn from their mistakes for whatever they did. Some get really serious and have 10 lashes on their back..It takes forever to heal and its very gruesome. I've never seen a female get that torture yet." She added honestly. "Well, let's hope it doesn't come down to that. I really don't wanna watch something like that." I said gently. "Sadly, everyone must watch.. If you don't, the clan will see that as disrespect to our laws. Marcus would also agree with that." "Marcus agrees with what?" He walked inside the kitchen yawning loudly as he walked over, placing a gentle kiss on my head before moving to get himself some coffee. Layla smirked at seeing him kiss my head as I shyly looked away from her, as I didn't wanna speak about our whole first kiss last night yet with her. She didn't ask about it before replying to her brother. "About the whole punishment stuff, everyone must be there and blah blah." She said, not really caring to repeat herself as she shrugged. "Ah.. Yes sadly. It was our law before I became the leader.. I cant change it, everyone basically deals with it in their own way. But hopefully we wont get to that point where you need to see one." He smiled at me before sitting down with us. I didn't wanna think about that as I just ended up changing the subject instead. "Can you drive me over to my parents' house later? My brother has not replied to my texts or calls and I'm worried.." I said honestly as I swallowed a huge lump in my throat before sighing. He nodded his head, placing his hand on mine. "Of course, I don't mind at all. I'll have Emily clear my meetings, so my focus will be on you, maybe even a lunch date." He added in there, sipping his coffee. My cheek heated up as he was asking me on a date. I mean it was a funny way of asking but I just chuckled with a smile. "I'd love that Marcus." Layla was looking at us questionably before she smirked, putting her cup down. "Did something happen last night between you two? You can look at her and she gets red when she looks at you.. I'm not dumb and can smell the toxic love in the air." She squeals loudly, making both of us look at one another before clearing our throats. "Stop being so nosy." He grumbled embarrassed as he shoved toast in her mouth as she laughed loudly. I chuckled with a smile as we continued to have a conversation during breakfast. -------------------------------------------------------------- It was around one when me and Marcus decided to leave and head to my parents home to figure out what was going on. Layla gave me a cute pink and white sun dress that came to almost above my knees. She told me I had to look cute during our date. How embarrassing! I sat in his car before he came in and closed the door. He glanced at me and smiled. "You look cute, I suppose to thank my sister hmm." I chuckled as he started the car and pulled away from the driveway and headed to my house. My eyes were watching the trees pass by as I had allot on my mind. Why weren't they answering? Were they giving me space? Or did the hunters find them? My mind was going everywhere as a hand touched my thigh. I turned looking to me as he gave a smile. "The worry is all over your face. You'll get wrinkles if you keep worrying like you are." I smiled at him, trying to cheer me up. "I know, I'm sorry. I cant help it really. I'm a worry bug honestly." "So I've noticed nothing wrong with that. Just take some big breaths. I'm sure everything is fine." He assured me as we turned the corner almost to my house. He drove pretty fast as it took my father literally an hour to get to his home. But then again, I was day dreaming so I probably missed the whole damn ride. As we drove down the road and to my address, we stopped in the front as he parked the car. My heart was pounding in my chest as I stared at the for-sale sign in the yard. I unbuckled and got out quickly as he followed after me. I stood in front of the sales sign confused before storming up the stairs and trying to open the door. But it was locked and inside looked dark so I really couldn't get a glimpse of it. Marcus looked at me then grabbed the handle of the door before pushing it open with little to no strength, as you could hear the locks break easily. "Our secret." He said to me as I nodded my head and went inside the house, first looking around. I moved inside and my heart fell into my stomach. Everything was gone. All the furniture, the photos my mother cherished of us. The whole house was empty and I was left with many questions. "They never said they were leaving.. Marcus, they never told me! They left me.. They.." A cry escaped my lips as he slid me into his arms, holding me tight. My parents and even my brother were gone and I never got a goodbye. I never got a reason why. Tears fell from my cheeks and onto his shirt as my whole world suddenly turned upside down as I felt alone and abandoned.
