Chapter 15. Captain Kin’s Story
“I was born to a family of substantial means. My father was the greatest of the Master Navigators. He was paid extremely well to guide ships through passages that were impassable to lessor men, but he was seldom home. I barely remember him. When I was fifteen he used his considerable influence to get me a position as a midshipman aboard the Blue-Green-Yellow, the greatest warship of her day. Of course, he secured positions for my brothers as well, but mine was the most significant.
“I served in the Navy for years, all through the wars. Toward the end of the Blue-Green wars I was assigned to privateer duty. After the war, with no work available, I drifted into piracy.
