MIRABEL’S POV. I sat on the cool grass, hugging my knees as I stared at the flowing lake. Ash’s words kept replaying in my mind. Why did he sound so different? He had always been the one to push me to step out of my comfort zone and dare to be different. But now that I finally did, it’s suddenly a problem. My thoughts were interrupted by the faint sound of footsteps approaching my direction. I didn’t need to look to know who it was—Damian’s scent had already given him away.
