Chapter Twelve: FriendlyA better man would walk away. What Modesty and Oliver have may not be the norm, but it is clear that they love each other. Age difference aside, they are not actually related. It is simply harder because on paper, they are father and daughter. They will never be allowed to be together in the name of the law. He has a solution to their problem, but still he considers walking away. It could go both ways. Oliver could react in a hostile manner and challenge his wolf for her. He does not want to hurt the man, if only because he knows that hurting him would hurt her as well. He sighs. It is easier to let go, hope he finds someone else that his wolf and he are as are taken with. Even as he thinks this, he feels a stab of pain in his gut, so vivid it is almost physical.
