CHAPTER 9/ THE RELUCTANT HUNT

481 Words
Luna sniffed the air, her nostrils flaring as she caught the scent of human flesh. She had been tracking Lily for hours, her paws carrying her silently through the ancient forest. She had never liked the human, but Akira's orders were clear: keep her safe until my return. Luna padded through the underbrush, her eyes scanning the terrain for any sign of Lily. But as the sun began to set, casting the forest in a golden glow, Luna's search yielded nothing. No trace of Lily's scent, no hint of her presence. Luna's frustration grew, her hackles rising as she realized she had failed. She had searched every inch of the forest, and still, there was no sign of the human. With a growl, Luna slunk back through the trees, her tail between her legs. She would have to face Akira's wrath admitting that she had failed in just one responsibility. could that little human just quit getting into trouble? where could she be now? she knew she had to inform the elders about the situation real quick. Luna padded back to the pack's den, her ears hung low in defeat. She had never failed in a task before, and the shame burned in her chest. As she entered the den, she saw Kato, the elder, sitting by the fire, his wise eyes fixed on her. "Luna, what news?" he asked, his voice low and gravelly. Luna hesitated, her tail twitching. "I couldn't find her, elder Kato. I searched the entire forest, but the human is gone." Kato's expression turned grave, his brow furrowed in concern. "This is not good," he said. "Akira will not be pleased." Luna hung her head, her ears folding back in shame. "I know, Kato" "the little human couldn't just stay away from attracting danger, I told Akira that she was a threat to the pack but he just wouldn't listen" Kato said. Kato's voice rang out across the den, summoning the pack's strongest wolves. "Gather, pack members! We need a search party to find Lily before Akira's return". The pack's wolves quickly assembled, their eyes fixed on Kato with determination. Luna stood among them, her shame forgotten in the face of the task ahead. "Split into teams and search the forest," Kato instructed. "Leave no stone unturned. We must find Lily before Akira returns." The wolves nodded and dispersed, their paws pounding the earth as they fanned out across the forest. Luna joined the hunt, her senses heightened as she searched for any sign of Lily. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the pack's wolves combed the forest, their howls echoing through the trees. Luna searched every nook and cranny for Lily, she must restore her honour by all means and evade Akira's wrath. Even with her hatred for the fragile little human, she still had to find her and it was just so annoying.
