The men of the pack gathered around the bonfire, their faces illuminated by the flickering flames as they laughed and chatted, passing bottles of liquor and sharing stories. The air was filled with the sweet scent of burning wood and the sound of their raucous laughter.
They had gathered to celebrate a milestone - the first transformation of young Luca, a significant rite of passage for any wolf. It was a tradition as old as the pack itself, a bonfire to mark the occasion and welcome Luca into their ranks.
I looked around at the familiar faces, my eyes scanning the circle of men. But one face was conspicuously absent. Akira was nowhere to be found. I felt a pang of surprise and disbelief. Such an important occasion, and he wasn't even here? It didn't seem like him to miss something so significant. I wondered what could be keeping him away.
I wondered if Akira's absence was related to the injury. Maybe he was still recovering and didn't feel well enough to join the celebration.
My concern for Akira's well-being got the better of me, and I excused myself from the gathering. I made my way through the darkness, the bonfire's light fading behind me as I approached Akira's quarters.
As I entered the room, I saw Akira sitting at the reading table, surrounded by scattered papers and open books. His eyes were fixed intently on whatever he was studying, his brow furrowed in concentration. But as soon as he saw me, he quickly gathered the books and papers, hiding them from my view.
"I didn't mean to intrude. I just wanted to check on you." I said.
Akira's eyes met mine, "I'm just...preoccupied with some personal matters." he said softly.
I nodded, my eyes fixed on his face. "I understand. But if you're sure you're okay..."
Akira nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. "I'm sure, Lily. Thank you for your concern."
As I stood there, curiosity getting the better of me, I reached out to grab the hidden book. But Akira was too quick, his hand snapping out to catch my wrist. He held it firmly, his eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my heart race.
I was too surprised to think, my mind blanking out completely. Before I could process what was happening, Akira's lips brushed against mine in a soft, gentle kiss.
I felt like I was melting into his embrace, my heart soaring with a mix of surprise and delight. But as soon as I realized what was happening, I pulled back, my cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
"I...I should go," I stammered, trying to compose myself. "The others are waiting at the bonfire."
Akira's eyes never left mine, but he nodded silently, releasing my wrist. I turned and hastily made my way out of the room, my heart still racing.
