I sat there beneath the heart tree throwing stones into the river.
why does Akira always have to be this way towards me?
Luna was my age grade but she still joined in the training with the pack so why was my own case so different?
"Hey, lily" I heard someone call from behind.
I was startled at first,
I turned back to find kael standing there with his elbow resting on the tree.
"How long have you been here?" I asked.
"Don't worry, I just got here" he replied with a smile.
He walked towards me and sat next to me under the tree.
"I know you've been going through a lot, trying to get along with the pack and the elders and there is Akira and all other problems, I just want you to know that I'll always be there if you need me, you're not alone in this, ok?" he said.
I looked up at him, my eyes shining with tears.
"Thanks kael, just talking to you makes me feel better" I replied with a smile.
kael was the first wolf that had gotten a long with me apart from Akira.
we grew up together and got along well even though we were of different races.
He was just always there for me when I needed him, kael was a friend indeed.
"so......" he said still trying to get the rest words out of his mouth.
"can I ask you something?" I asked with a look of curiosity.
"of course" he replied.
"what's it like being a wolf?" I asked, my eyes sparkling with wonder.
"I mean I know you're a shap-shifter but what does it feels like to experience the world as a wolf?" I asked again.
"It's different" he began, searching for the right words.
"Everything is intense, more vivid, smells are stronger, sounds are clearer and the forest feels like a part of me" he added.
My eyes widened, my mind running wild.
"That's amazing" I replied.
"But it's not all fun and games, being a wolf can be dangerous too" he said.
"And now you sound like Akira" I replied with a scoff.
Kael gave out a small laughter.
"You should know that Akira's just trying to protect you, there are many dangerous things out there" he said.
"I don't need his protection, I can protect myself" I replied with a bold look.
"really? so you're that strong to stand up against a vampire or a dryad or maybe stand to wrestle with an omega?" he asked followed by a laughter.
"I could, if I train" I replied.
"Have you ever asked Akira about the scar beneath his left eye?" he asked in a whisper.
"He never gave me an answer anytime I asked" I replied looking very eager to know what happened.
"Vampires, even Akira himself wasn't strong enough to take out an elder vampire all by himself, he lost his brother in the fight so I heard, that was the same day he found you in the forest" he explained.
"That's why he's always like that, he doesn't wants to loose anyone else not even you" he added.
I felt a little sorry for Akira,
He had lost his brother in the war between vampires and wolves but he still didn't even show it.
I never knew some true emotions lay behind that cold voice.
"We have to get back to the pack now, it's not safe out here" he said as he stood up and stretched his hands towards me.
I received his hands and stood up.
He led the way back to the pack as I followed behind him.
