Lost in the flow
A girl floated lifelessly down the river, her body drifting gently with the current. Her eyes were closed, and she looked peaceful — but she was unconscious.
This girl... her name was Rion.
Hours later, her eyes slowly opened. She found herself lying on a warm bed inside a cozy room. She sat up, her head pounding.
“Where am I...?” she whispered, clutching her head. “I don’t recognize anything... What is this place?”
A gentle voice responded, “Oh, you’re awake! My son found you in the river and brought you here,” said a kind-looking woman standing near the bed.
“I’m sorry... Who are you? And... what was I doing in the river?”
The woman whispered to herself, “I think she’s lost her memory...”
Then she looked at Rion and said softly, “So you don’t remember who you are? What’s your name?”
Rion closed her eyes for a moment and said, “My name... I think it’s Rion. That’s all I know. I don’t remember anything else... Please help me... I feel so lost.”
Tears welled up in her eyes as she hit her forehead in frustration.
“Hey, stop that,” the woman said gently. “Don’t stress yourself. Just calm down.”
Rion slowly stopped and sat back down.
“What’s your name?” she asked.
The woman smiled warmly. “My name is Liyona. And I understand how you feel. Don’t worry, you’re safe now. Here... drink this orange juice.”
“Thank you...” Rion whispered.
Liyona walked toward the door. Before leaving, she turned back and gave Rion a reassuring smile. Then she stepped out.
In the hallway, Liyona met her husband.
“Who is she? Did she tell you anything? Why was she in the river?” he asked.
Liyona shook her head. “Not yet. She doesn’t remember anything... I feel bad for her.”
“So what do we do now?” he asked.
“We’ll go to the police and try to find her family. But for now, she’ll stay with us,” Liyona replied.
Nearby, a teenage boy overheard their conversation. He didn’t say anything.
He just listened... silently.
