When the lady was left alone, she heaved a sigh as she look at the closed door. She don't know why but Zero's eyes gives her the sense of familiarity.
"I know I haven't seen him, but why do I feel that I have seen him somewhere?" She mumbled.
Thinking hard made her feel head ache. She started to massage her temple to ease the pain, but instead of geting relaxed, she suddenly remembered the day when she left her friend almost two decades ago.
"Dhan needs me!" The little girl tried to free herself from the strong grip of her father in the airport.
"Don't be stubborn, Daphne. Or else, I will beat that Dhan friend of yours!" Her old man insisted and kept pulling her despite of the people who is watching and stealing a glance to them.
"Y-you can't!" The girl is horrified to what her father said to threaten her.
"I can't? Then, try me, Daphne. He is just a forgotten son of the Baldwin's. No one will care even I beat that bastard! If you really care about that bastard, come with me!" Her mouth gapped open as she witness the true colors of her father behind the sweet smile he once gave to her friend.
For the safety of her friend, she just give in and let the old man take her away, leaving her friend alone, in the meeting place they planned to go.
Since then, guilt and longingness became her fuel to strive higher. After a decade of her sufferings under her father, the old man died in the most tragic way people could imagine. The news about her father's true cause of death was being sealed inside the four walls of their household and released a fake one. She must be happy that she's finally free. But, regret still comes first whenever she sees a pair of golden eyes she once saw two decades ago.
"Where he might be?" She asked herself.
A decade have passed, she is trying her best to locate her old friend. But, the Baldwin she located is his father. While her friend is still nowhere to be found.
She knew that the Baldwin clan is a wealthy family. She also knows the extent of their connection and power. In front of the Baldwins, her Lax clan is nothing but a speck of dust.
The Lax family is also wealthy and have connections, but, it's limited. They can be on par with the Baldwin and Simpson's clan when it comes to wealth. But, they can never be compared when it comes to power and connection that the two allied family's holds.
But, a news about the heir of the agency led by the Baldwin clan began to spread.
The young man in his 20's started to make his name. He may be backed up secretly by his father, he proved that he can be independent too. He is with the Simpson clan's young master that is also his best friend since primary. They both made their name more famous than their fathers. They are also known because of their closeness and brotherhood.
But... no one knows what they look like, and where they are now.
At the same time she heard the news, is the same time when she was being threatened by an anonymous person.
She thought that it's just a coincidence. But, the letters the culprit left shows that the one behind the scenes also knows her relationship toward Dhan. And the culprit's intention is to let her stay away from Dhan, that until now, is nowhere to be found nor be recognized.
She heaved a sigh and hold the folders in her hand that contains the details about the two agents. She spent a lot of money just to hire them, especially Zero, the black ranked agent of BMA.
It may be expensive but she is confident that she will not suffer poverty even though she need to hire them for a whole month.
"What's got into me to hire such expensive butler?" She mumbled to herself.
"If you do not have the guts to hire us, then why insisting to solve this matter?" She turned and saw the cold gaze of Zero.
He is standing at the door frame, his hand inside his pockets and staring at her with his golden eyes. She can't help but to admire him instead of scolding him for being rude to her. Or maybe, she have no heart to do that.
"Didn't your mother taught you that it's bad for being rude to a girl. And that eavesdropping is rude?" She asked.
Zero's gaze turned colder. She feels like she's about to have frostbite due to his coldness. She can't speak nor can't look at him straight.
'What's happening?' She thought.
"No one deserves to teach me a lesson." Zero said.
Daphne sighed and tried to calm herself. She thought that Zero has poor upbringing that's why he is cold and rude. But there is something inside of her that's still unsatisfied.
"Then don't. Why are you so worked up?" She chuckled to ease the heavy atmosphere.
"Who have the free access inside this room?" Zero suddenly asked.
"Me and my friend. Why?" She replied without asking why.
"I'll solve your case within a week. So stop messing around and leave my partner alone. Or else, no one can help you when we forcibly terminated this mission." He said.
"Are you threatening me?" She asked unbelievably.
"I'm not." He turned his back on her and added, "I'm just giving you a warning. After all, I have the power to terminate this mission whenever I wish."
"Then, why not terminate the mission now, if you have the power?" She snorted.
"Because of Zyro." He answered. He was about to take a step when he pause again and said, "A piece of advice. Don't underestimate the people around you because of what you see in the surface. People always have hidden agenda, I hope you're not that blind, young miss." Then he left.
Daphne frowned and thought a million times what Zero wants to say. But... after trying hard, she just sighed and stared at the door frame where Zero stood. She have a strange feeling of familiarity, but she kept on thinking that it's impossible to have a past relationship with Zero. But, investigation will not hurt, right?
