**Mark’s POV**
“Wait, Mark! Where are you rushing to? We want to have a little celebration party for winning against the Red Ballers now, and yet you’re in a hurry. Is there something you’re hiding from us?” Daniel asks, moving forward to meet me. His gaze fixes on me coldly as he smirks.
I do not like how Daniel points out his questions, drawing the attention of our colleagues.
“It’s personal, and I do not need to tell you,” I reply, my voice calm, my eyes meeting Daniel’s gaze. He is angry because Olivia rejected his advances before he settles for Emily. How is that my fault?
“Don’t lie to us, Mark,” Daniel yells, his eyes shooting daggers at me. “If you want to lie, you should have a little respect for Alpha Bryan!”
“Let him go, Daniel. I have no interest in what Mark wants to go and do. And since he says it’s personal, you don’t have to pick on him,” Bryan chimes in, his voice gentle and trying to settle the rift between Daniel and me.
“Daniel, Bryan is right. You’re just mad at Mark because his sister rejected you. How is it Mark’s fault that you got rejected by Olivia? Stop being a sore loser!” Caleb shouts, taking my side. For some odd reason, I think Caleb and his brothers share a small resemblance to Olivia, but I am not so sure if they are related to her. Moreover, they never have any sisters.
“Shut up, you three morons! I am not being sore over Olivia’s rejection. Fine, I admit that I get pissed off that she rejects me, but what’s so special about her? She’s a wolfless girl and born on a moonless night. Who would want a wolfless girl like her? Huh?” Daniel yells, making my fist clench. But I do not show my disgust. After all, he is Bryan’s Beta.
“Say whatever you like about Olivia if that makes you feel better. I am out of here,” I reply, my voice stern as I turn to walk away and exit the basketball court.
Daniel calls out to me, “Mark! I hear from Emily that you’re defending that bìtch at home! Are you secretly sleeping with her at home? After all, she is your adoptive sister. Who knows what you both are doing behind closed doors? Or why do you suddenly seem to care about her now?”
The room falls silent as everyone waits to hear my response. Indeed, I rush back home to take Olivia to the hospital after the housemaid, Tracy, contacts me and informs me that my mother has beaten Olivia and left her to die in the living room.
I am at my new home, trying to furnish it, when I leave everything I am doing and rush back to my father’s house. I see Olivia lying lifeless on the floor, and Mom already leaves for work, even though she is a nurse. She does not care to check on Olivia. No one is home except the maid, who is a middle-aged woman.
As I dashed into the living room, I rush to carry Olivia in my arms and take her straight to my car. As I keep her in the backseat, I hop into my red sports car. Then I roar my car to life and drive straight to the pack’s hospital.
Upon my arrival at the pack’s magnificent hospital, Mom sees me carrying Olivia into the emergency unit, and she is furious to see me, as she works in the obstetrics unit.
After I come out and the doctor and nurses attend to Olivia, Mom glares at me, but I do not wait to speak to her as I rush back to find out if Olivia is recovering in the emergency unit.
Shutting my eyes at the memory, I turn to face Daniel, knowing that he is a sore loser, and I demand, “Does it matter if I am fụcking Olivia at home? After all, she’s beautiful. So stay the fụck out of my business!”
Everyone’s jaw drops in shock, including Bryan Anderson. His expression sours because I know that he likes Olivia too, but he never voices his thoughts. His alpha pheromones thicken the atmosphere as I know that he frequently visits me at home, but I find out his visits are not because of me, but to get a glimpse of Olivia.
I have caught Bryan stealing glances at Olivia, but he cannot admit his feelings for her. After all, she is a wolfless omega. Bryan is also the next alpha of the Starfield Pack, and his parents will not support him picking a wolfless omega as his mate.
Bryan’s younger sister, Ava, is in Olivia’s class, but they are not friends. So that holds him back from chasing after my foster sister, and I am okay with it.
I know Bryan cannot have a wolfless girl as his Luna, so that holds him back from pursuing Olivia, but something in the way he looks at her makes me uncomfortable, and I know that he desires her too.
Clearing his throat, Bryan snarls, “Mark, how can you take advantage of Olivia? Did she agree to sleep with you, or did you force yourself on her?”
I laugh, seeing their questioning gazes. Their eyes peer at me disdainfully, but I reply with a smirk, “I have standards and don’t force myself on women. Stay away from my sister. Whatever relationship I have with Olivia is my headache. After all, she is not related to me by blood.”
The atmosphere in the room thickens as Coach Tyler already leaves us. I spin and leave them, shutting the door behind me.
“Mark is damn crazy! How can he take advantage of that beautiful girl? Is it because she is an orphan? We hear her parents threw her out when she was born?” Caleb’s voice resonates in the room, as I stand in the hallway preparing to leave for the hospital.
They are not happy that I admit to being in a relationship with Olivia. She is not my blood sister, so I do not care what they have to say.
Logan growls in my head, “Let’s not pay attention to them. The earlier we claim Olivia, the better, so we can keep them away from her.”
“You’re right,” I agree with Logan, making my way out of the basketball court.
As I arrived at the parking lot, I get into my red sports car and drive off to the pack’s hospital, anticipating seeing Olivia.
As I do not want to arrive at the pack’s hospital empty-handed, Logan advises me, “Mark, let’s get a present for Olivia. What do you think she will like?”
As I drive down the road that leads to the pack’s hospital, I catch sight of an eatery, and I am famished. I am supposed to join my teammates for lunch, but I do not want to spend much time with them, knowing that I have pressing matters to take care of.
A smile curls up my lips, then I drive my car into the eatery parking lot and park it. As I get out of my car, I come across Ava Anderson and my younger sister, Emily.
“Hey, Mark!” Ava exclaims as she rushes up to envelop me in a warm hug. Her chest presses against mine, and my wolf grimaces in disgust. Even though Ava is our Alpha’s daughter, Logan does not like her, as she is a cheap woman and has slept with many handsome guys in our pack.
I am her new target, and I do not want her as her eyes shamelessly rake over me with clear desire. She bites her bottom lip as she moves away, running her left fingers through her hair. She wears a yellow crop top, pink shorts, and pink shoes. She is stunning, with long blonde hair and enchanting yellow eyes that glow with so much lust in them.
However, Emily glares at me and looks away. She is still annoyed that I take Olivia’s side and protect Olivia against her. After all, Olivia is my sister too, even as I plan to date her now. I cannot seem to get her out of my mind, especially after I run into her náked. That morning, I blamed myself for not knocking before going into her room.
