“Death had always been a theme in Poe’s works because of his chaotic past and the demise of the people he actually cared the most about. It’s not just because he’s overly dramatic about the whole thing. It’s just so tragic to see your loved ones go. And death will remain a fascinating subject for most people.”
Sam loved arguments, especially over something she’s very interested in, like Edgar’s life. Personally, though, I thought Edgar Allan Poe was just gifted. I didn’t think people should struggle to write hardcore stuff.
“Whatever.” I lifted the book and held it close to her. “How about this part, ‘I was a child, and she was a child’? He unquestionably was no child at twenty-seven when he married his young bride.”
