Chapter 16

The big day finally arrived that I was going home, my skin was crawling with excitement. I haven't seen my family in quite some time because I was busy with studying, and I didn't make time for them. This week was going to be all about them no matter what happens.

I finally arrived home, and mom was standing outside with the biggest smile on her face, it felt like I could burst with excitement when I saw my mom. It made me happy, my whole family made me happy.

A little background on my family; mom is a fantastic cook and a super awesome mom. Dad is a great fisherman and an even better sleeper. My brother, he is the oldest of us two, he is deaf, but he wears hearing aids he can hear you with them, and he can also have a normal conversation with you.

My brother is my everything, he is always there for moral support, and he cares about me. Always trying to protect me, making sure I wasn't dating any shady boys or I wasn't doing drugs. He was overprotective to tell you the truth, but I didn't mind, I liked having him around.

We didn't see each other that much because I was away at college and he was working the only time we had together was when I came home for holidays so being home for two weeks is more than exciting for me.

Hayden was in the back of my head and I couldn't help, but miss him so much we haven't spoken today because they had a big game against some big rugby team. Whenever we talk on the phone, I tend to zone out because I just like listening to his voice because it's so magical and charming it's like he puts me under a spell. OMG, I like him so much it's not even funny.

Snap out of it Dawn you are going to be awkward in front of your family and you don't want them to see you like a lovesick puppy you are a strong, confident woman that can go a day without thinking of Hayden, but maybe just thinking of him a bit won't hurt.

"So who is he, Dawn?" Mom said, looking at me, I didn't know how we got here, but we were seated in the kitchen drinking juice.

"Who is who mom? So how is dad's health?"

"Don't change the subject sweetheart."

"What... I would never do such a thing? Mom, you sound like Madison she tells me that all the time."

"How is Madison doing? Being in a foreign country can be strange to some people." Oh, I was good at changing the subject?

"She is a great mom. I spoke to her three days ago, she was enjoying every bit of it. I don't think she is coming back. She promised that she would come and visit me, so I am kind of happy about that."

With a sudden bang, the front door shut and I jump out of my seat because the only person that I knew does that is my brother Wade. I was right when I saw him I ran to him, wrapping my arms around him, giving him one of the tightest hugs ever. I missed him so much.

"Did my baby sister miss me?" He made a pouty face.

"I am not a baby, and you have no idea how much I missed you."

"Good to know because we have so much to talk about." He gave me another hug, and this right here was more than I needed to be home with my family and friends.

"What you left her?" I was shocked by those words that fell from his mouth because he always said he was going to marry. I didn't like her so like you could imagine I was having a party in my head because I didn't want to call her my sister in law, she would be the worst ever.

"Yeah, it was a spur of the moment thing. I realized that we didn't fit together, she was, how do I say this in a nice way..." I interrupted him quickly because I knew exactly what he wanted to say.

"She's a bitch." I did those jazz hands kind of dance and started cracking up in laughter, but he just shook his head face-palming himself.

"You could say that, but let's not be mean okay."

"I make no promises." We started laughing together, he probably thinks I am one of the craziest people on earth.

Our conversations went on for a long time it was like that perfect brother and sister bonding time talking about anything, everything and anyone we could. Without my brother, I would be lost.
