Chapter Two - Time to Go

2947 Words
It was time, she could tell. She could hear the pack gathering outside, waiting to see her off. She couldn’t do it. She hadn’t bothered to pack, her parents kept insisting she do the right thing, but she wouldn’t do as they wished. When she saw the red pickup truck she turned away. “Why did he come?” she groaned as she threw herself on the bed. Him being here meant her father still expected her to do the right thing. Right thing according to who? Not to her. She didn’t want this. She wanted to be a warrior and fight. She was strong. Not some weak wolf who needed to be married off. Felicity was angry. “Felicity, he is here,” George informed her, and she rolled her eyes as she opened her bedroom door. “I could care less, I told you, I refuse to leave,” she quickly slammed the door in his face and locked it. He could scream and do whatever he wanted. She wouldn’t go willingly. “Felicity Ann Lavoie open this door right this instant!” she could hear the authority and anger in his voice, but she didn’t care nor react. She pulled her pillow to her chest and watched as he banged on her door, making it rattle. After about five minutes he gave up and left. She breathed out, relieved that he had left her alone. For now. Felicity could hear her father shouting to someone and it didn’t take her long to realize it was her mother, because her voice was the next one to shout out. She tiptoed to her door and pressed her ear against it. “I can't believe she is embarrassing us like this!” George yelled. “You can't expect her to be ready for this,” Andrea argued. “Andrea, I made the proposal, he is here to collect her and she refuses to come out, what the hell do you expect me to do?” she could hear the anger in his voice, and she felt momentarily guilty. “She’s scared, George,” “So? Emily was ten times worse but she didn’t fight me, she did as she was told,” “And she suffered,” “And now she is perfectly happy! For f**k's sake Andrea, think a bit!” - Warren leaned against his truck. He could clearly hear George and his wife having a fight. He wasn’t sure what was going on but since Felicity hadn’t shown up, he was pretty sure she didn’t want this. Finally, George came out, and honestly, the older wolf looked so angry that Warren stood up straight. “Warren, I apologize, she isn’t ready,” “Ready?” “Yeah, her things aren’t packed,” “Oh, should I come back later?” he asked unsure of what he was supposed to do now. George looked back towards the house and then to him. “There’s a motel not far from here, maybe you could stay there for the night, tomorrow she should be ready,” Warren nodded and got back in his truck. He felt restless, his wolf was restless too. Not understanding why he was feeling that way, he left the village and drove the short distance to the motel. Booking in was simple enough but it reminded him too much of his past. He unlocked his room and went inside, throwing his bag on the floor, he lay down and closed his eyes. *Flashback* Warren laughed loudly as he watched the dancers teasing him. He had a slight buzz from all the alcohol he had consumed but he was far from drunk. he had brought the three dancers with him from the bar to some cheap motel just up the road. “You are so strong,” one of the dancers had come over to him and placed herself on his lap. He didn’t mind as he gazed over her sexy body. She ground against his crotch and he felt the stirrings of arousal. When his phone rang interrupting him, he growled out in frustration, pushing the dancer from his lap. “What?!” he barked into the phone. “Alpha, rogues are at the border,” His beta, Jason informed him. “So? Kill on sight,” he hung up and motioned for the dancer to come back, which she did happily. *End of flashback* Warren wasn’t proud of who had been and he hated being in the motel but it was for one night, and he didn’t have to go to the bar, he could just relax and watch some tv. - Felicity stood with her head bowed down in shame. Four days had passed since Warren had arrived to collect her and each day, she locked herself in her room and refused to leave. She had hoped Warren would get the picture and leave but her father was just as stubborn as she was. “I can't believe you would do this to me,” her father was saying. Andrea was just sitting there and she wished her mother would stand up for her. “Felicity, you are of age now, this is what is best,” she said and Felicity looked up quickly. “You are on his side then?” she accused. “It's not about sides, it's about the pack,” Andrea explained. “I know you’ve heard some horror stories about Warren but he could really use the help in rebuilding his pack, he needs a Luna,” “Daddy, please, just see this whole thing from my point of view, I don’t want to leave, I’ve been training every day since I was twelve, I don’t want to be a Luna, I want to be a warrior,” she was on the verge of throwing a full-on tantrum. “Warren’s patience is wearing thin, and honestly so is mine, I didn’t want to have to do this, but I will,” Felicity wasn’t sure what he meant but the reaction from her mother made her take a small step back. “What will you do?” she asked, she was actually afraid of his answer. “I will banish you from this pack,” he stated simply and she looked over at her mother. “You wouldn’t,” “If you don’t leave with Warren tomorrow then you will have forced my hand, so you can either go with him or be banished from the pack and you know what that means,” George left the room and she turned to her mother. “No, mommy, he can't be serious,” “I’m afraid he is,” Andrea said as she stood up. “You are such a strong wolf Felicity, you can help Warren, I don’t understand why you are fighting against this,” and with that Andrea left the room as well. Felicity let the tears fall as she realized she no longer had a choice. She didn’t want to be banished. It was a fate worse than death. She would go and pack. She would go with Warren and she would do whatever she needed to do. She slowly made her way upstairs and to her room. She found Sasha sitting on her bed. “Hey Lil sis,” she whispered and Sasha looked up at her. “Why is everyone fighting?” she asked. “Because I am stubborn and I refused to be married off to a horrible alpha,” she explained as she joined her on the bed. “Emily didn’t refuse,” Sasha stated and Felicity grinned at her. “That’s because Emily is too scared, she is scared of her own shadow,” they burst into giggles, and Felicity couldn’t allow her father to banish her. She loved Emily but Sasha was her light. She couldn’t let her Lil sis see her be banished. She quickly mind-linked her father. “I will go with him, tomorrow daddy,” “Thank you, Felicity,” came his response. She didn’t want him to be angry with her, she just hadn’t thought he would force her into doing such a thing. Sasha sat on the bed, telling her tales of the pack while she boxed up her most prized possessions. It wasn’t much, two boxes and two bags with her clothing. “I’m going to miss you,” Sasha suddenly wailed out and Felicity took her in her arms and hugged her tight. “I’m going to miss you too Lil sis,”   “He is here!” George yelled out the next morning. This time, Felicity slowly made her way downstairs. The pack hadn’t bothered to gather today as they had before. She had disappointed them as well as her parents. “Daddy, I’m so sorry,” she said to him as he hugged her. “I know sweetheart, I am sorry for being so hard on you, but I do know that this is the right move,” she nodded as she went to her mother. “I love you, honey,” Andrea said as she kissed her forehead. Sasha was hiding behind their mother and Felicity bent down and pulled her into a hug. “Look after mommy and daddy,” she whispered to her. She stood and smiled sadly at them before opening the front door and walking out. She saw Warren putting her boxes and bags in the back of the truck and her heart began to beat faster. Her wolf woke up and started pacing. Suddenly he stopped and she saw him sniff before turning to her. Mate! Her wolf started to chant and Felicity stood frozen as she looked at him. He was tall, well built with thick dark hair that looked as though it needed a cut. It was his eyes that grabbed her attention.  “Felicity?” he asked uncertainly and she nodded. Unable to speak as she breathed in his scent. Every fiber in her being felt as though it was alive. Her brain felt mushy and her palms became sweaty. He came over to her and leaned into her. She didn’t move as he gently brushed her hair away from her neck. She could feel his heavy breathing on her neck and she heard him moan out. “Everything alright?” George asked from behind them and this snapped them both out of the magical yet awkward moment. “Yes, daddy,” she said quickly before turning and giving them a final wave before rushing over to the truck. She didn’t wait for Warren to open her door as she climbed into the large vehicle. He soon joined her and started the truck. “Um..ready to go?” he asked her and she nodded, not daring to speak to him until she could figure out what the hell was going on. As he started to drive away, she withdrew within herself and called for her wolf. “Felica, is he really?” “He is our mate!” her wolf jumped up and down in excitement. Felicity couldn’t believe this was happening. “What do I do?” “Jump him!” Felicity glanced over at Warren, taking him in with her eyes. He was wearing a white t-shirt that didn’t leave much to the imagination. His muscular arms easily maneuvered the wheel and she looked at the size of his hands. She gasped and quickly looked away when he looked at her. “Um…I am…damn this is hard,” she turned to look at him as he struggled for words and she found herself staring at his lips. He had licked them and she wanted to reach out and lick his lips herself. “Do it!” Felica shouted out and Felicity actually found herself leaning forward. - Warren panicked. He could smell her arousal. He couldn’t take it. He had never been attracted to his own kind before and now she turned out to be his fated mate. How cruel are the gods he thought as he struggled to find the words to introduce himself? He could see her leaning towards him out of the corner of his eye and he didn’t know what she was doing. When she reached out and touched the side of his jaw, he froze. Her touch had sent sparks throughout his body. He didn’t pull away as she seemed to move closer to him, exploring his face and hair with her fingers. Her touch was soft and in his opinion the best thing he had ever felt. He shifted uncomfortably as his own arousal pressed against his denim. “Ah, Felicity,” he managed to get out. “Mmm?” she was in some sort of daze and when he looked at her he could see the color of her eyes was amber gold and he knew it was her wolf. “What's your name?” he asked. Not many wolves named that part of themselves whereas others did. “Felica,” she moaned out the name and he grunted in response. He was struggling to keep his own wolf down as she moved closer to him. When she rested her hand on his thigh he nearly went off the road. “Can I have Felicity back? Please?” he wanted to be demanding but this little she-wolf was different. “But I want to have some fun,” she teased him flirtatiously and this got his wolf all roused up again. “Felicity now!” he spoke harshly and he regretted it but when she jerked back and her toffee-colored eyes came back into focus, he breathed out in relief. “I am so sorry,” she whimpered. “Don’t be, I didn’t mean to be so harsh, it's just your wolf, is well, ah, she is a bit, um…” he battled to explain it and she laughed. He loved the sound as he looked over at her. “Pushy,” she suggested and he nodded. “Yeah, um, pushy is one word to describe what just happened,” “Don’t get used to it,” she said and he was confused by her sudden change in attitude. “Ah, yeah sure, um…so there is a motel that I will stop at if you want a break?” he prayed she said no, and when she did, he was happy. He hated motels and as far as he was concerned he had spent enough time at that stupid motel, waiting for her. “Are you angry?” she suddenly asked him. “No, why? Because you don’t want to stop at the motel?” he asked her, confused by her question. “No, because I made you wait for me,” “Day one, I didn’t think much of it, day two, I was a bit annoyed, day three, I started to panic and yesterday I was a total mess,” - Felicity smiled at his words. She still wasn’t sure how she felt about him. Felica had no problem in making any kind of decision as she was all aboard the Warren is our mate train. The drive to his pack was long and boring. They chatted about random things, got to know each other a bit better but she could tell he was holding back. He had a past and she was going to find out all about it sooner or later. “Where are your parents?” “Um, yeah…ah…they left just after I took over the pack from my father. He was hurt really badly in an attack on our pack and so he felt it was time for me to take over. I, Woah, this is harder than I thought it would be but I never thought I was bad at being alpha. When they left, it made me question a lot but I was really stubborn and set in my own ways. It got worse though,” she listened intently to his words and although he was letting her in, she still didn’t fully understand. “What got worse?” she pushed and he shot her a warning look. “Yeah, anyway, they moved overseas and joined another pack,” “Do you ever miss them?” “Yeah of course, especially now,” he looked sad and she felt the urge to comfort him but she resisted. She didn’t want him to think he could bat those long lashes of his and she’d be putty in his hands. Nope. Not this wolf. “Why do you need me to rebuild?” she asked him curiously. “Honestly, my pack is so small I need to do something drastic and having a Luna is the right step in the right direction,” “So I am just a means to an end?” “No, no, of course not,” he said quickly and she smirked at his awkwardness. She loved how his dark green eyes gave away his emotions. She wasn't sure if he had always been so vulnerable, she doubted it but regardless she felt attracted to him. Felicity wanted to get to know him like really get to know him. He intrigued her and if there was one thing Felicity was good at, it was pushing wolves to their ultimate limits. Warren may think he can hide, but she will figure it all out in due time. "Why did you kill that wolf?" she suddenly asked him after a few moments of silence. He gave her a shocked look but she didn't back down. "Woah, you sure don't beat about the bush, yeah, that night I had, well I had been to the human town for a drink or so and when I got back, I decided to do a perimeter run. I spotted her run into our territory and the scent of a pack chasing her made me act out," he explained and she thought about his words for a moment. He had sensed a pack was chasing her and he just reacted. no questions asked. she found this a bit odd and could already tell he was hiding something. more so than before, she wondered who Warren was, had been and what his plans were moving forward. She nodded and then turned her face away, closing her eyes as she felt sleepy. - Warren glanced over at her sleeping form. She was so beautiful, so attractive, yet so feisty. Felicity didn't have any guard over her mouth as she asked him blunt questions. He had been half and half expecting it, but then again, he hadn't been expecting her to be his mate. He wasn't sure how he was going to move forward with this new development but his instincts were telling him to love and protect her. So as far as he was concerned that was his mission, love, and protect his mate and Luna.
