Chapter 3

2374 Words
The she-wolf woke inside a metal cage. Thick bars were covered with a tarp, blocking her from seeing anything and muffling her sense of smell, she lifted her head up only to let it fall back down limply. She had no energy to try and move. "She's awake Kostis." A voice called out. The she-wolf immediately started growling lowly, she may not be able to move much but she would still cause harm to these males who dared harm her. The tarp was pulled back and a man appeared. He had dark brown hair put into a ponytail, yellow eyes that were calculating and cautious. His features were sharp and rugged from many years of hard work. He had a fresh claw mark running across the right side of his face, cutting all the way down to his chest. For some reason, the she-wolf felt bad knowing she caused that wound. "Wolf, my name is Kostis. We are taking you to meet the Alpha of the lands you have been living on. Behave and this trip will go smoothly, the Alpha will release you and you can go free. Attack any of us and I will have no choice but to recommend the Alpha keep you permanently locked up or put down like a common dog. Understand?" Kostis questioned. The she-wolf felt like a newly shifted wold again, scared of everything yet wanting to lash out all at the same time. She was confused, she would've remembered crossing pack lines and invading a territory. She never even saw another wolf for years until these three showed up. She whined in response and tried to get up. Her shoulder throbbed painfully, her neck felt wet and burning. Her muscles were sore in places she hasn't felt before and her body felt cold for the first time in a long time. Kostis eyes softened just a fraction as she whined and whimpered in pain, he never wanted to hurt the wolf who was peacefully living in the woods, but he also didn't want to be killed or his brothers to be hurt. "Easy, you'll heal soon enough. If I can trust you Swithun will patch you up. He's been known to be the nurse of the family" He said as the she-wolf finally sat up. She looked worse than he thought now that the storm had stopped and the morning light was peaking through the sky. Her coat was matted with her blood, a nasty open wound was on her shoulder and sides, her neck had some bad punctures from Kostis and Tanwyn's teeth. He was surprised the she-wolf didn't pass out sooner from the blood loss. The she-wolf slept through the rest of the day and night, Swithun was almost worried she would sleep for the entire trip and not wake to heal herself properly. "Can I trust you not to mail my brother wolf?" Kostis asked putting a hand through the cage door. The she-wolf reached her neck out to sniff his hand, only to leap back when a new face joined Kostis. He had blonde hair and bright blue eyes that softened at the she-wolf as he took her bloody sight in. His face was soft but showed determination, she knew to be cautious of him, his wolf was a cunning one. She growled in warning, not so much as a dangerous warning but an unsure of the new male warning. The male-only gave her a pity smile and turned to Kostis. "She's pretty bad now that I see her in the light brother, she will need some stitches and antibiotics if you wish to bring her to the Alpha alive," He said sighing. Kostis turned to the she-wolf and eyed her as he thought for a moment. "Can I trust you not to harm him she-wolf?" He asked reaching his hand through the bars again. The she-wolf watched him and growled lowly as she backed further into the crate, she didn't trust these males. How could she anyway? They attacked her, took her from her home, and have locked her in a cage like a misbehaving mutt. "We can always sedate you instead, this is your choice wolf." The other male said picking a leather bag up and setting it next to the cage. She shook her coat out and laid down, her sign of surrendering, only temporarily. She would be escaping soon enough. "Good, Swithun will take care of you. Harm him and I'll bring the Alpha a new throw rug instead of a wolf." Kostis growled threateningly. The she-wolf bites down the growl that threatened to burst free from her throat and watched at Swithun unlocked the cage door. It opened with a loud creak causing her to pin her ears down from the loud noises. Swithun slowly inched closer to the she-wolf, holding out his hands in surrender. She let him brush his fingers against her fur while she held back the urge to tear his handoff. It wasn't that she necessarily hated the touch, it was more of the odd feeling it gave her. She nearly whined when he pulled his hand away to retrieve a small syringe. "Don't worry, it will just numb the area I'm stitching. We won't drug you again. You have my word" He smiled softly. She laid down on her uninjured side and let the wolf clean her wounds. He carefully cut away her thick fur from around the wounds and cleaned them thoroughly. He hummed a soft tune as he worked that had the she-wolf drifting off to sleep until she started bandaging her sore wounds. "Shhh it's not that bad" He said as the she-wolf growled. She would still grumble her annoyance until he finally finished bandaging her wounds. Swithun sat back with a satisfied smile, she looked much better now that she was bandaged up. She still had blood covering her fur and he felt bad about that but he didn't want to push his luck and trying to get Kostis to let him bath her, he threw a fit when Swithun said he was going to bandage the she-wolf. He understood his brother's fear though, the she-wolf could easily kill him before he blinked. She could've killed Kostis and Tanwyn as well if Swithun didn't sedate her in time. They could all feel something powerful that courses through the she-wolf's veins, their own instincts bent and bowed to her. Swithun automatically liked her, it wasn't often another wolf could beat his brothers as bad as this wolf. Kostis was more curious about the she-wolf than anything while Tanwyn remained cautious. Swithun climbed out of the cage and gave an apologetic smile as he shut and locked her cage door. He hated this, he could tell to some degree his brothers did too. She was living peacefully and safely out in these woods and they removed her from her own den, chased her through the woods, injured her, and stuffed her inside a crate. He secured the tarp on her crate and climbed inside the large truck they loaded her cage into. "She's stable and fine for now. She will need to eat soon to help the healing process" Swithun said as Kostis started the truck. "Can she last until tonight?" He asked. Swithun nodded in response. "Then she will be fed tonight, we'll stop at the diner just outside of the pack lands and feed her" He said. The she-wolf was already growing agitated as the hours passed. Her claws couldn't get a grip on the slippery surface and she kept sliding around the cage, slamming into the bars as they took sharp turns or stopped. She was beginning to think the driver was doing it on purpose now just to vex her. She nearly yipped with joy when the engine shut off and the three wolves unloaded from the truck. They passed her cage and their footsteps faded away. The she-wolf stood and shook her coat out. She was still in pain from her wounds and the drive didn't help any. She cleaned her fur out carefully, ignoring the urge to vomit from the taste of her blood and made sure her coat was clean. The snow had started up again now, heavy flakes fell from the sky and into the edge of her cage, it made her long for her warm soft den instead of the cold metal that she now stood on. Laying down she curled up into a ball to try and keep warm as the temperature dropped. An hour passed before the scent of food flooded her nose, causing her to mouth to water. She peeled her tired eyes open to reveal Swithun holding a burger in his hand for the she-wolf. "Here, figured you would be starving by now" He said smiling. The she-wolf decided she liked him, she may not truly trust him but she is already enjoying his company compared to his brothers. She stood up and stuck her snout through the bars trying to reach the food that beckoned her. Swithun laughed and handed her the burger, he bought her a few things to eat and a blanket to keep her warm. They didn't expect the temperature to drop as quickly as it did and he had rushed his brothers out of the diner to make sure the poor wold hadn't frozen to death. Luckily he found her curled up in a ball sleeping. She ate heartedly and even licked the bottom of the cage for any crumbs of food that were left behind, her appetite didn't seem to be sated and she was already begging for more food from Swithun and he felt horrible that he didn't get her more. "Swithun, let's go. We have a few more hours of driving to do" Kostis called. He was waiting by the driver's side door for Swithun to finish coddling the she-wolf, he didn't agree with his brothers constant worries about the she-wolf like a mother hen to her chicks. All they needed to do was make sure the she-wolf wasn't killed before they got her to the pack. She didn't need to be coddled, she survived years out in the woods, she would survive a few days with them. Swithun smiled sympathetically at the she-wolf as he closed down the tarp again, he hated this. It wasn't right that she had to be taken from her home just for the alpha to see if she was safe, he could've traveled down this way instead. Kostis said that he couldn't due to this pack preparing for a large winter gathering and the Alpha's oldest preparing to take over in the spring. He sighed heavily and started to turn around when he felt something cold hit the back of his neck. "Don't move to quick wolf, my man here has an unsteady hand and we don't want your brains to be blown all over the place" A mocking voice said to the left of him. "Who the f**k are you?" Swithun growled. "Me to know and you to never find out, call your brothers out now" He said. "Kostis! Tanwyn! Come on out boys!" The man shouted forcing Swithun to his knees. He watched as the two brothers climbed out of the truck and started for Swithun only to have the man point a gun to their brother's head. "Listen boys, I don't want to kill you and leave bodies for the other packs to find and then have them on my ass so here's what we are going to do. You will remain right there while we take this wonderful she-wolf off your hands and take her with us to our camp, if y'all can behave we'll let you and your adorable brother go free without having to resort to unnecessary violence. He said messing Swithun's hair up. Kostis growled lowly and went to take a step forward only to have Tanwyn grab his shoulder. "Don't be foolish brother, they have a gun to his head. He will die for before you take another step" Tanwyn said eyeing the man before them. He had scars across his face and neck, dark eyes that seemed to show no life and messy black hair. He looked sick in stature as well. All in all he looked like a loner wolf casted out from his pack and left to fend for himself in the wilds. "I don't have all night boys, make a choice. Cooperate or loose a sibling I honestly don't care" The man shouted pressing the gun harder against Swithun's skull. A few moments passed of them staring at the man and no-one made a sound other than the she-wolf growling and snarling. Kostis finally sighed in defeat and nodded his head. "Take the wolf. Let my brother go." He said. The man signaled his men to remove her cage and kicked Swithun forward to his brothers. "Pleasure doing business with you boys" He grinned as the enraged she-wolf was loaded onto a new truck. Tanwyn helped his brother off the ground as they watched the men take the she-wolf she was howling and ramming against the cage as the men drove off. "Are you alright?" Kostis asked Swithun as he checked him over. "I'm fine!" He yelled slapping his brother's hands away. "We can't let them take her, who knows what they will do to her" He said angrily as he paced. "Calm yourself Swithun. We cannot do anything for the she-wolf apart from reporting the wolf who took her. We just don't have enough wolves to get her back" Tanwyn said calmly. Kostis watched his brothers for a moment before speaking. "He is right Swithun, we cannot go after the female." He said. "But we will get her out of there. She doesn't deserve what those wolves may do to her" He added as Swithun went to protest. Swithun smiled at his brother, they would make this right, it was their fault she was taken and he would make sure she was returned to her home. AN Yay chapter three is done. What do you think the she-wolf's name will be? Any guesses? Also who is your favorite so far?
