The interview
****Lauren P.O.V**** As I take a step out of my crappy (the least expensive apartment I could find in LA) I realize that today was the anniversary of the day I tried to take my life two years ago. I promised everyone that I would try my best to be happy and forget everything that led up to that night but I can never seem to forget. But that’s not something I can be distracted by right now I have an interview for the biggest company in LA KNOCKOUT. When I first applied for the position as the ceos assistant I was just getting over the years of therapy, every Friday at 9 pm my mom always insists I go to therapy to talk about my depression or the events leading up to me trying to take my own life. My mother was the one who found me and ever since then she hasn’t let me out of her eyes for too long always insists I visit and stay in therapy fearing I’ll try again, she isn’t wrong but not for that reason in particular I don’t want to be here I lost myself 2 years ago and I don’t know if I will ever recover. ****Shanes P.O.V**** KNOCKOUT has been running smoothly since my dad handed the company over a few years ago after his accident that eventually took his life. As a newly graduated college student it was a lot to take in but I’ve been working my whole life to fulfill this very spot since the second I was even known to my parents. I’m now 23 years old both parent dead running this company better than any previous owner ever had. My mother I suppose would’ve been proud of me she was the nicest woman you could’ve ever met but cancer took her from me at the age of 8. She was beautiful with long red hair and never without a smile on her face or lighting the dark mood my father always brought. My father was a tough man always down to business, either do things his way or.. well there is no or either do what he asked or face the consequences. He gave me most of my looks dark pitch black hair green eyes and what my family would say “an identical face to your fathers” which would be a complement if not for me hating his guts for all the s**t he’s put me through since mom died. Anyways I have an interview with a new assistant, and by interview I mean I sit and ask a few questions while my hiring manager Conner does the rest. I hate this part of the job the women flirting with me, constant staring, and always ending up having to be fired for one reason or another… let’s just hope this one isn’t the same as the last dozen. ***Lauren P.O.V*** Pulling up to BLACKOUT always leaves me speechless the building is as tall as the clouds and I know the view is amazing. If not for what happened those years ago I could imagine myself already have been working here once I graduated, but sadly things took a deep turn for the hills right after graduation and no one could really blame me for not going out a lot after. I had a job but it wasn’t anything that I used my degree for I have a degree in business managing and yes I won’t be doing that as much here but it could come in handy if I get the job due to the rumors I’ve heard of the CEO being a nightmare to work for, I’m never one to listen to rumors but.. “Lauren” calls an unknown man dressed in a expensive black suit and the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen “Yes.. nice to meet you..” I say waiting for a name of this mystery person I’ll hopefully be working with “Conner sorry I should’ve introduced myself I’ll be conducting your interview alongside the CEO” he says holding out his hand as he finishes “The CEO is going to be sitting in on the interview?” I asked slightly nervous, I knew I would be meeting him eventually but today?!??! “Yes sorry we don’t usually put it online due to a lot of safety reasons but he sits in on every interview he has with his new assistants” he says nonchalantly “I know it’s unexpected but the company expects a lot from their new employees including adaptability as you’re aware you will have to be able to travel at short notice” he says walking us to the elevator to the top floor where I suppose the office is. When we make it to the top floor we step out and arrive at a large wooden door to a huge office with a large desk in front of floor to ceiling windows that show the rest of the breathtaking view. A tall muscular man in a even nicer suit then Conners sits behind the desk looking at his laptop glancing at both of us entering the room before going back to what he was doing. “You can take a seat right there at the table to the far side of the room and we will be with you in just a second” Connor states before walking away. “This place is beautiful” I whisper to myself waiting for Connor and CEO’s name I’d forgotten after first seeing him he’s a lot more handsome then people have said of him.. “Lauren sorry for keeping you waiting” Conner states both men now approaching and sit across from me. “No worries” I say with a smile “Okay let’s start the interview” Conner states before going through the basic interview questions. “Do you have past training to qualify you for the position?” “Would you be available to work weekends?” “Would you be able to drop what you’re doing to come to the office to finish an assignment?” Then the interview concluded the CEO who I now know is named Shane ,never spoke a word only sat and listened I caught him staring a few times but it was probably just the normal looking at a person to see if what they are saying is truthful. As I was getting ready to grab my stuff to conclude the interview as Conner said he didn’t have anymore questions he finally spoke. “See you on Monday” Shane says unexpected. “I got the job?” I ask surprised not thinking I would get an answer on spot, wasn’t there other applicants? “Yes” is all he says before turning his attention back to his laptop hinting at the end of the conversation.. This is gonna be a very hard job if this how he communicates with people. As I enter my crappy apartment I lay on the sofa exhausted from the socializing. I used to be such a social person but now it just seems like a lot of work or pointless to even be social. But now that I have to work for Shane I have a feeling I’m gonna be put in a lot of social settings and before that would’ve been my dream but now I don’t even know what I’m getting myself into I’m not that person anymore.
