The Genesis
(Little did we know that the boundless chains of fate had already dragged us to where we were needed.
Vin's car rolled along the tarred road, its tires kissing the ground rhythmically in the darkness of the night.
It was Ryan's tenth birthday, and his parents had taken him out to celebrate this special day.
Diana: So, Ryan, make a wish.
Ryan: But there is no cake with candles lit.
Damien: Ryan, you don't need candles to make a wish.
Damien spoke from the driver's seat, giving his son a warm, fatherly smile.
Ryan: Okay, I will.
They waited in silence for a while, allowing the screeching of the tires to fill the car.
Ryan: I've made it.
Damien: What? Come on, you didn't even say anything.
Ryan: There's no need. I said it within. My teacher said that when we make a wish, we should say it inside.
Ryan sighed thoughtfully, putting emphasis on the last word.
Diana: Then will you tell Mum?
Ryan: Never.
He gave her a playful glare.
Diana immediately began tickling him, and they burst into laughter. The atmosphere was filled with joy.
Until suddenly, something unknown erupted from the ground and appeared directly in front of the moving car. It was slightly taller than the vehicle itself.
Damien, carried away by the loving moment he shared with his family, didn't notice it.
Fortunately, Diana did.
Diana: Watch out!
Damien immediately became alert and swerved the car just in time.
Ryan's adrenaline surged. He clutched his mother's hands tightly, feeling the rush of blood through her veins. She was afraid too.
Ryan: Mum, what's going on?
Diana, though frightened, tried to calm her son.
Diana: It's nothing. Dad will take care of it.
Her words reassured him a little.
Unfortunately, another creature appeared.
Damien dodged again, weaving through them. As more creatures appeared, the drive turned into a terrifying roller coaster.
The warmth inside the car disappeared. Fear thickened the atmosphere, and panic grew rapidly.
Damien fought desperately to keep the car under control, but what could mere humans do against such mysterious beings?
Suddenly, the car was struck.
It was hurled into the air, spinning violently like a ball rebelling against gravity.
Diana immediately hugged Ryan tightly.
Diana: Ryan!
Amid the chaos, Ryan felt a strange sensation.
A speedster with glowing blue stripes suddenly appeared and pulled him out of the tumbling car, carrying him far away.
Dizzy and weak, Ryan couldn't resist.
His savior covered his mouth and part of his nose with large hands. They were rough, yet strangely gentle.
A shimmering blue shield enveloped them both.
Even through his dizziness, Ryan could still witness the deadly scene from afar.
Immediately, the car crash-landed onto the hard ground.
From a distance, a massive porthole tore open in the air.
A figure appeared, riding a gigantic armored beast shaped like a bird.
The rider radiated a killing aura.
At first glance, his figure appeared normal, yet his presence was undeniably terrifying.
He wore a vast dark cloak that resembled an advanced technological warrior suit.
The rider leaped off the beast and landed before Damien.
Damien struggled out of the smoking, upside-down car. He was badly injured and crawled forward weakly.
Damien: Ryan...
His voice trembled.
Damien: Diana...
As he finally emerged from the wreckage, he saw the figure standing before him.
The figure's murderous aura suffocated him, filling him with fear.
Figure: Damien Vins.
The figure spoke majestically, and there was something strangely familiar about his voice.
Figure: Fate was kind to let our paths cross, especially because of him.
Damien: Who are you?
He spoke through pain, anguish, and sorrow as his vision began to fade.
The figure stared at him.
Figure: Your end.
A smirk appeared beneath his mask.
His voice thundered with overwhelming power.
His hands began to twist the air, forming a colossal dark tornado that swallowed the entire area, except for Ryan and his mysterious savior.
The figure's eyes turned pitch-black as greenish lightning flashed through the raging storm.
This was chaos incarnate.
From afar, Ryan watched helplessly as the process of his parents' demise unfolded before his eyes.
He was powerless.
Damien: Who are you?!
Damien's voice was almost drowned out by the raging tornado.
Figure: Your doom. I am who he is. I am the future to come.
Immediately, the figure leaped back onto his beast.
As he turned away, he glanced back and met Ryan's gaze.
Damien was already dead, lifeless on the ground.
The figure smirked.
Figure: We will meet again, Ryan Vins.
His words were directed at Ryan.
Figure: Fate will permit it. I promise.
Something about those words remained stamped in Ryan's fainting mind.
The figure entered the dimensional portal.
It sealed instantly.
The tornado collapsed inward, erupting into a violent dark explosion.
Then came silence.
Ryan: Right in front of me... My parents were killed.
Ryan's vision faded, and everything went dark.
TEN YEARS LATER
Ryan: I am Ryan Vins, and these are my friends, Ely, Alicia, and Iriel.
We were affected by Marthardonian DNA, which made us something unexplainable and mysterious.
Not only were our bodies affected, but we were also pulled into something much bigger.
Something unbelievable.
Something dangerous.
The Marthardonian DNA made us the...
Listening to the deafening silence and feeling the cold atmospheric breeze brush against his skin, Ryan couldn't help but stare in awe at the emerald beauty before him.
Degriss High School.
His mind raced with wild imaginations and questions.
What would this school be like?
Could I even cope?
Suddenly, a cold touch rested on his shoulder.
It was his uncle, Meric, the man who had carried his burden for the past ten years ever since the tragic loss of his parents.
He looked at Ryan gently.
Meric: You must be feeling nervous, right?
He gave Ryan a fatherly look.
Ryan: Yeah... a little.
A faint smile crossed his face.
Meric: Just kidding. Come on, Ryan. You've got a good coping system in new environments, just like ten years ago. Even though it took a while, I'm sure you can handle it now.
He patted Ryan's back.
Ryan: I hope so.
Meric: Just go, kid.
With a light push from his uncle's arm, Ryan moved forward without hesitation and entered the school.
Ryan's POV
The day I entered Degriss High School, the day I set foot through its gates, everything changed.
Walking like a new prisoner in a new cell, Ryan was mesmerized by his surroundings.
The sporting fields were covered in lush green grass, while flowers were neatly arranged around the gigantic school building, amplifying its beauty until the place felt almost unreal.
It was like being lost in a universe of wonder.
He was snapped back to reality by raised voices.
The voices exposed the school's flaws and the contrasting nature of its students.
Ely: Return the bag, Jeff, or the principal will hear about this.
Jeff: Come on, Ely. What are we, babies?
The three bullies burst into mocking laughter.
Jeff tossed Ely's bag to Scott, who flung it to another boy.
Ely spun helplessly in the circle as they continued throwing his bag around.
Ryan: Of all things... this school is still old-fashioned, which is exactly why I might fit in.
He stepped forward and caught the backpack mid-air.
Walking up to Ely, he handed it to him.
Ryan: You dropped your backpack.
Jeff: Who in the world is this? A knight in shining armor?
Ryan ignored their taunts.
Ryan: You can have it.
As he stretched the backpack toward Ely, Tom stepped forward.
Tom: We give the orders here, porcupine!
Tom lunged at Ryan with a punch.
Ryan swiftly dodged, causing Tom to accidentally hit Scott.
Ryan: I'm very sorry.
His voice was mocking and completely expressionless.
The boys stared at him.
Then they attacked.
Ryan handled them efficiently and calmly, avoiding their attacks and taking them down one after another.
When the fight was over, he returned to Ely.
Ryan: Here you go.
Ely stared at him in fascination.
Ely: Thanks, friend.
Ryan: No worries, mate.
Ely: I'm Ely.
They shook hands.
Ryan: I'm Ryan Vins.
Ely: See you around, mate.
Ely jogged away, but Ryan felt an unexpected sense of friendship linger between them.
Ryan continued onward, still absorbed by the school's grandeur.
He entered the hallway, which was overflowing with students, with lockers lining both sides.
Ryan: What in the world?
Nervousness suddenly seized him.
He walked as though the ground might swallow him whole.
Lost in thought, he accidentally bumped into someone from behind.
Several books scattered across the floor.
Ryan immediately bent down to help.
Ryan: I'm very sorry.
Iriel: I should say that too.
Ryan looked up.
The girl before him carried herself with an elegant and graceful presence that immediately caught his attention.
He quickly looked away and continued gathering the books.
Ryan: Here.
They picked up the final book together.
She stood.
Iriel: Thanks for the help. Bye.
She smiled softly.
She walked briskly down the corridor as another girl approached her.
Ryan watched them disappear into the crowd.
He didn't know her name.
He didn't know why they had met.
And he certainly didn't know what role she would eventually play in his life.
But looking back, that was the day everything truly began.
Fate had already chosen them.
