CHAPTER ONE : THE EXCITEMENT
I strolled around Christian High School's campus, basking in the lovely day, when I suddenly remembered the Holy Convention next Friday. I've heard so much about it, and I couldn't wait to participate. The gathering brings together saints from Peace Country, with students from various Christian High branches converging to fellowship with the School Owner, a revered Man of God. Just as I was lost in thought, Hailey's voice echoed through the air, "Gwen! Gwen!" She sprinted towards me, and I waited for her to catch up. "Hey, I've been calling you since class," she said, gasping for breath. "You're so spaced out lately." I apologized, grinning from ear to ear. "Sorry, I'm just super stoked about the Holy Convention. It's my first time meeting the School Owner, and I've heard his presence is powerful." Hailey's eyes sparkled. "Me too! I can't wait to experience it." We headed to the cafeteria, chatting excitedly. As we ate, Hailey leaned in, whispering, "I heard we're supposed to write our heart's desires on a paper and drop it on the altar during the gathering." "Yeah, I've heard that too," I whispered back. "The School Owner prays over them, and God answers his prayers quickly." The school bell rang, and we reluctantly headed back to class. As we walked, Hailey's voice dropped to a whisper, "I'm looking forward to it. Who knows, maybe our prayers will be answered." The next day, I was running late due to traffic. As I arrived, the hallway was buzzing with students discussing the Holy Convention. I spotted Hailey amidst the throng and pulled her aside. "What's going on? Aren't we supposed to be in class?" I couldn't believe my ears as Hailey shared the news. "Guess what?! The venue for the Holy Convention has been changed, and our school has been chosen to host it!" she exclaimed. My eyes widened in shock. "Oh my goodness! Wow, wow, wow! That means everyone will be converging here?!" I squealed. Hailey was just as thrilled. "I know, right?! Me too!" she shouted. "There's so much preparation to do. We need to clean the hostels, toilets, change the bed covers and curtains... it's a lot of work!" I took a deep breath. "Yeah, it's a big task, but I know we can do it. Everyone's volunteering, and I can see the excitement everywhere." Hailey nodded enthusiastically. "That's why classes are cancelled for this week and next week. We're going all out to make this happen. The Principal just announced that we're to divide ourselves into groups of ten, and each group will handle a task." I grinned, feeling a sense of pride and responsibility. "Let's do this! Which group are you in?" I asked Hailey which group she was in, and she told me she was part of the decorations committee. "I'm so excited to help make the school look beautiful for the convention!" she said. I told her I was part of the hospitality committee, responsible for arranging accommodations and meals for the guests. "It's a big job, but I'm up for the challenge," I said with a smile. As we discussed our tasks, other students started gathering around, eager to share their own assignments. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone buzzing with excitement and anticipation. Suddenly, the Principal's voice echoed through the loudspeaker, asking all committee leaders to meet in the auditorium for a briefing. Hailey and I exchanged a nervous glance, and we quickly made our way to the meeting. The briefing was intense, with the Principal emphasizing the importance of our roles in making the convention a success. We discussed logistics, timelines, and expectations, and I felt a sense of pride and responsibility wash over me. As the meeting adjourned, Hailey turned to me and whispered, "We're going to make this happen, Gwen. We're going to make it unforgettable!" I grinned, feeling a surge of determination. "You bet we will, Hailey. Let's do this!" So, after the committee leaders' meeting, Hailey and I rushed back to our groups to share the updates and assignments. The decorations committee, led by Hailey, got straight to work on transforming the school's auditorium, classrooms, and hostels into a vibrant and welcoming space. They spent hours stringing up colorful banners, balloons, and lights, and setting up a stunning stage for the School Owner's message. Meanwhile, my hospitality committee was busy arranging accommodations for the guests, making sure the hostels were clean and cozy, and planning delicious meals for everyone. The food committee, led by our school's culinary club, worked tirelessly to prepare traditional Peace Country dishes, as well as some international favorites. They even set up a special café area with refreshing drinks and snacks. The technical team, responsible for sound and lighting, did a fantastic job ensuring everything was perfect for the big event. And the ushering team, dressed in their crisp uniforms, were stationed at every entrance, welcoming guests with warm smiles. As the days went by, the energy on campus was palpable. Students were working together, laughing, and having a blast, all while getting everything ready for the Holy Convention. It was truly a team effort! The day before the convention, we had a big rehearsal to make sure everything was in place. The School Owner even dropped by to say a few words of encouragement, and his presence sent a wave of excitement through the crowd.
