Chapter 8

“Av,” A wolf growled from where I was washing sheets. I let the last one drop into the washer before turning it on and heading up the stairs. There with a sticky mess all over Olivia. She looked so angry, I was so worried now. I have done my best to stay away from her and so did my children but she always accused them. “Yes Luna.” I gently spoke as I came up to her. “Your boys have done it again. I am covered in paint once more.” She screamed at me. I looked up at the yellow paint that covered her. “My boys have been at school all day. They will be home in half hour. How could it have been them?” I asked unsure how this would have happened. She was so furious she smacked me leaving paint on my own cheek. “Don’t you dare back talk me.” She snapped. I held my cheek as I looked back at her. “I am only stating the obvious.” I told her but there I go with paint on my other cheek. Well I had to make it even. “My boys have done nothing wrong. But if you like I will clean it up.” “Well I sure as hell am not cleaning it. Your wretched boys will be put in a time out once they get home.” She screamed. “They will learn to respect there Luna.” “They do respect you.” I protested. Mom hadn’t been feeling good for the past week and I wanted to make sure the children where there the moment they got out of school. She seemed to always feel better when them and Esmeralda where present. With Cameron and Caden out I was going to take them there myself today. It’s been about 2 weeks since I have started my research and I wanted to get some information from the doctor in regards to some questions I had. “If they respect me this wouldn’t have happened.” She spat. Small amounts of paint flying from her lips. “This wasn’t there fault.” I told her as gently as I could. She looked at me angrily as she stomped towards me. I stepped back trying not to get in her way but that was my down fall as I tripped and fell down the stairs to the basement where laundry was done. I wanted to scream in pain as I swear I hit every step down. I knew I cracked a few bones and my wrist that had finally felt better is now hanging limp. “This will teach you for talking back to me.” Olivia screamed as she shut the door. I heard her lock it and I began to cry. My boys and Esmeralda wouldn’t see me the moment they got home and I knew they would panic. This broke my heart because I wouldn’t be able to go see mom tonight either. I whimpered as I tried to drag myself up the stairs but that didn’t help. I laid on the first step as I remembered my chambers all those years ago. The pain of the cold cement floor the scrutiny of smell. At least this was a little better. It smelt of dirty and clean clothing. There was the smell of the cleaner and dust. I knew super would not be served which wasn’t the best thing for me but I was able to do it once I could live without a meal. I closed my eyes and thought of my boys and Esmeralda. Once I had them perfectly in my mind I placed a protection spell over them. There was no way I was going to let Oliva's hand print be placed upon my children. They where innocent and I would make sure of it. I think I fell asleep right there because the next thing I heard where my children screaming for me. I wanted to scream for them but I was much to weak to. I felt the gentle sting on my body from where Olivia must have tried to hit them. There was no way they would feel it. My body didn’t hurt as bad from where I fell down the stairs. ‘Mommy loves you babies. Be strong, she will be with you soon.’ I tried reaching to them. It must have worked because I got a reply. ‘Mom where are you?’ Markus spoke worried as I heard him growl. ‘Laundry.’ I gently tried again. All was quiet for a while before I heard the lock being opened. Soon the door was opened and I heard the pattering of feet. Marcus was the first one to me and he was angry. I grabbed his cheek with my hand trying to calm him but this only made him angrier. Esmeralda was next with tears in her eyes before she ran for a cloth. She dabbed at my wounds that where bleeding but they where dry so it was no use. Patric was at the top of the stairs. “Uncle.” He screamed causing the other two to look up. “Patric found Andrew mom. He will come help.” Marcus said gently as he tried to get me to sit up. It took them both but when they did I wanted to scream in pain. Word of advise, no matter how much torcher you have gone through stairs still hurt. “Olivia.” The growl shook the steps we where on before a head popped over them. He thundered down them till he was in front of me. “Av what hurts. Tell me.” “Everything.” I tried to say as calm as I could. Well it didn’t and came out more like a wheeze. “I’m going to lift you okay.” Andrew spoke as he reached under me and lifted. It hurt so bad but I held my scream. “Esmeralda and Marcus we head to the hospital ward. Go ahead and get a bed ready.” “Come Patric.” Marcus cried as he grabbed his brothers hand and led him away. Andrew gently lifted me up the stairs and down the hall. “She is going to pay for this. She has gone to far.” Andrew growled. “Please don’t. It was a miss understanding. I tripped.” I spoke not wanting the Luna to get in trouble. I mean yeah she just about killed me but really I should have watched where I was going. Plus it wouldn’t happen again. I can’t have it happen again and I know it’s about time someone puts her in her place. “No she has done enough to you and everyone. It’s about time she learns she is acting Luna but not Luna.” Andrew growled angrily as we finally walked into the hospital ward. He placed me on the bed as they wheeled me away. Turns out I broke my wrist, cracked my ankle and three ribs and chipped a vertebra. He was amassed my skull was fine but they where going to keep me over night to make sure they all healed nicely. “Andrew will you take the children to see there Grandma.” I asked once they where allowed in my room. “No mom. What happens if the person thay hurt you comes back. We stay here and protect you mommy.” Patric spoke from where he was sitting on the bed by my head. Esmeralda was carefully snuggled beside with my left wrist gently resting on her hip and Markus was holding my right hand outstretched to where he was sitting on the chair. Andrew was leaning on the wall at the foot of my bed. He was so angry with himself that he didn’t come and check on me sooner. “Grandma will understand.” Esmeralda gently said. “I am not leaving you.” Andrew growled. “This is not your fault.” I spoke gently trying to make him feel better. “Moms right this is the fault of the person who dropped paint on Luna Olivia.” Markus spoke. “I bet it was Jared.” Patric said. The three of them still didn’t get along and he really despises Marcus hanging around Esmeralda. “We will have to get to the bottom of it and soon. Olivia cant have her way. I have informed the Alphas about it.” Andrew spoke. “I told you….” “I know what you told me Av but I don’t believe it. The doctors have even said. If you tripped yourself the injuries would have been different. We do know she didn’t push you down so much assumption of her making you step backwards is probably right.” He spoke as he came closer to me. He put his hand on my calf and sighed. “As your brother and only lead role model it was my job to keep you safe and here you are in bed. I will be finding out who did this and I will be having a talk with Olivia. I am not letting this happen again.” “It will get better. I know it will.” I told him with a smile. “Alright children time for supper.” Andrew smiled as he walked to the door. None of them wanted to leave my side. I looked at them all and motioned for them to go. They all grumbled but got up and walked to the door. I closed my eyes and let sleep come. I was so tired and in so much pain it hurt. I woke up the next morning perfectly fine. All my bruising gone. My cracks where all healed but the broken wrist was now a sprain. I was told to lay off using it for the day or two depending how things went. I was to come back daily to have it checked. I left with a smile as I raced to the pack house and helped the cooks make my boys there lunch. I prepared it just the way they loved it. They packed it for me before I was sent out. Not really sure what I was going to do today I decided to head to the orphanage. It was craft day and I knew I could be of some help even if it was my one hand. “Mommy.” Patric screamed causing me to jolt up from the crafts. I spent all day here and didn’t realise it. I raced to my boys scream and saw what was scaring him. It was a fake spider attached to one of the boys. He was laughing to hard on the ground. I snapped my fingers and a role of newspaper was in my hand. I rolled it up and gave it to Patric. He smiled wickedly and raced up to the boy and started hitting him with the roll. I had taught Patric when he was afraid of spiders to grab a magazine or news paper, role it up and swing as hard as he could at it till it was dead. Now every time he sees a spider he looks for one or screams till I find him and give him one. “I give up,” The boy screamed as he got up and ran away. Patric did his happy dance before he passed me back what was left of the newspaper. I chuckled as it fell apart even in my hand. “Come mommy. We need to eat.” He said lifting up his little hand. I grabbed it with my good one and he dragged me into the kitchen where Esmeralda and Marcus were waiting for us. We sat down at the island where there where a few bar stools. Andrew had food ready for us and placed it in front of us. We all ate happily before Andrew took me back to the hospital. They checked my wrist once more saying it will be better tomorrow and I probably don’t need the wrap. “We relax tonight mom and then go see grandma tomorrow.” Marcus smiled happily. It was the weekend so I knew we could spend a good chunk of time with her. “How are you feeling?” Andrew asked gently. He was concerned for me. I smiled at him knowing that I was fine as long as each of them where close to me. “Av, Andrew.” Cameron called as he came running over. I smiled at him happy to see him. Been a few days since he was home. “Sorry Av, I have business with Andrew I need to discuss.” “No problem. We where just going to relax and watch a movie.” I smiled at them before they raced off. I watched them go and hopped nothing was wrong. Two weeks and it’s been like freedom except for the incident with Olivia but I could live with that. “Mommy.” Patric said gently pulling on my pant leg. I looked at him as I lifted him to my hip with my good hand and Marcus help. “Can we have popcorn?” “I think we can arrange that.” I said as we all chuckled. We walked happily to the theater room where we watched movie after movie till we fell asleep.
