Kristen's POV:
My feet stopped dead in their tracks, my heart racing. Klein's question hit me like a sucker punch, freezing the blood in my veins. I didn't turn around, but his accusation stabbed me in the back, leaving me rigid with tension.
Lily, sensing my unease, quickly stepped in front of me, shielding me from Klein. She glared at him, her voice laced with anger. "Klein, Kristen already turned you down! Werewolf law says you shouldn't be anywhere near her, let alone throwing around rude questions!"
