Chapter 1

1522 Words
Dear diary, Today wasn't a terrible day, the usual stuff happened. I helped dad tend to the roses; they're really blossoming now. I think I prefer the yellow ones even though the bugs seemed to like them the most. Dad is going to plant some lilies he said that I'm getting to an age where I won't want to be doing the gardening with him anymore soon, so he wanted to have something there to remind him of the times that we spent together tending to the flowers. I don't know what he means, I don't think I could ever stop helping him in the garden. Not that I'm bothered by the flowers or enjoy the hard work.. I just like being with dad. He always makes me feel safe and happy. I also helped mum in the kitchens, we baked some croissants for tomorrow morning and some chocolate cake for desert today. Obviously, I licked the bowl. I hope the ranked members of the pack appreciate how hard everybody works to keep them happy. Every day, I see my mum and my dad working so hard. My mom burns herself on the oven most days, and my dad breaks his back to make sure the pack house grounds look pretty. I don't know what I will be when I am an adult around here, I think I'd like to do nursing or the care for the pups of the pack at the orphanage or day care. I saw the other kids my age messing around all carefree after lunch. Alice, Fiona and Gilly well doing routine dances while Randall was watching them. I think Gilly has a crush on him. She always seems to wiggle her hips and stick her breasts out when he's around. I think he is horrible; he always kicks the weaker pack kids to the curb. Let's hope he gets better before he becomes alpha.  Alphas are supposed to protect their pack, especially the weaker members! Sometimes when I see the girls, I wish I could be doing what they're doing. I'm just too shy to say hi, I wonder if I will ever have any friends of my own age. They must know me; do they even see me? I guess for now it's just me, mom and dad, even though they keep telling me to go and join the other kids. Anyway, I best go! Sounds like mum is dishing up our dinner, we are having chilli tacos and potato wedges dads’ favourite tonight. Lily [ age 12]     Lily closed her diary and put it in the draw in her bedside table. She walked to her dressing table and took a look at her face she had caught the sun and her face had a glowy pink tone to it. She always had a healthy look from being out in the gardens with her dad every day. She picked up her hairbrush and run it through her long brown hair. Once she was finished, she smiled to herself and said ‘’there that's better’’. She made her way downstairs to the kitchen my mom was dishing up dinner she had some music on the radio which she was dancing to, typical mum. ‘’Hey, Lily!’’ her Mom said once she noticed her stood in the doorway. ‘’May I ask whats got you grinning little miss’’ she asked as she raised an eyebrow. ‘’Mom, I am smiling at you and your dance moves, dinner smells delicious as always.’’ Lily said, still smiling as she picked up the cutlery to set the table. ‘’Your mom has the best moves, and its her who smells delicious!’’ lily’s Dad said as he entered the kitchen going straight to lily’s mom, wrapping his arms around her waist pulling her close to him, inhaling her scent and kissing her mark.  ‘’ugh get a room’’ lily joked while rolling her eyes, which made her parents chuckle. Truth was she loved seeing the love they had for each other, they really were the others perfect other half and she would feel a gush of love when they would say that to each other, then turn to her and finish by saying ‘And you are our happily ever after’ they were a small, but perfect little family. Oscar, Lily’s Dad was the groundsman of the pack. He tended to the grounds. He was not as tall as ranked members, being around 5ft 10 but he was solid and muscular doing such a manual job. His arms and shoulders were muscular and defined.  He would scoop up Lily and hug her so tight that she would squeal and laugh, but in his arms she felt safe. He had chocolate brown hair and eyes, and tanned rough skin from working outside. Her Mother, Helen was around 5ft 4. Quite short for a she-wolf. She was a perfect parcel of soft curves. Not muscular, she was everything the word comfort meant. Her skin was soft, her body was not muscular but a little squishy. She was a Mom shaped pillow, and Lily’s go to hug when she needed comfort. Helen was fair skinned, auburn hair and brown eyes. Lily had taken after both of them, she had her mothers’ fair skin and her father’s hair and eyes. She had her mothers’ cute nose, and pouty full lips.   The family sat at the small kitchen table and tucked into the delicious food. Oscar devoured 8 tacos in the time Lily had taken to eat the 2 she had on her plate. ‘’Oscar, you’re eating like a bloody vacuum. You chew food, not inhale it’’ Helen laughed which made them all laugh. ‘’I just love your cooking my Queen, and you know that this is my favourite ever! I can’t help that I am the most luckiest, well fed wolf in the entire pack’’ he replied and kissed her cheek with a greasy kiss. Helen rolled her eyes and mumbled ‘’Sweet talker’’ and winked. Lily was fit to burst from the delicious food, so started to gather the dishes and clear away. It was her last job of the day to clear up after dinner. ‘’Thanks Lily, Dad will do the trash once he finishes licking the pattern off the plate, Goddess Oscar theres nothing left put the plate down, your worse than a child!’’ she laughed. ‘’I am helping Lily, she wont have to scrub the plate’’ he joked Lily took the plate and rolled her eyes jokingly, and placed it in the hot soapy water. Her Mom left the table kissing Oscar on the head. Lily washed the plates while looking out the small window of the cottage. The sun was setting in the distance. She saw some boys her own age walking by, one of them was Nile, he was the second son of the Alpha. Lily knew they were close in age as he had his birthday parties the day before her own birthday. Not that she ever attended, or had her own parties for him to attend. She had never spoken to him, but he always smiled to her when he saw her in the packhouse. Nile was the complete opposite of his elder brother Randall, he was calm and from what she saw kind. Maybe one day she would find the courage to say hello when he smiled at her.  ‘’You OK flower?’’ Her dads voice broke her thoughts. ‘’Yeah, im good Dad.. just tired and full now.’’ He kissed her forehead and said ‘’ I Love you flower, and I love spending the days with you. But you should be with the other kids for part of the day. You are a wonderful person, and so funny. Don’t be shy of who you are. Maybe try and get to know them’’ he nodded in gesture to the window where the boys were still in sight. He picked up the trash bag and took it to the outside bin., not saying anymore as he knew Lily was a shy, nervous girl. Lily finished up and left the plates and utensils to dry on the drainer. She popped her head in the doorway to her Mom and stated she was going to shower and go to bed. It was 9pm when she had finished. She took out her diary again … Dear Diary, Me again, I just wanted to tell you … this year I am going to go to Niles party, and I am going to make friends. I am going to start making friends from tomorrow! Dad is right, I shouldn’t be shy of who I am, I am blumming great haha! Lily [Age 12]
