Penelope stumbled, tightening her grip on Luca’s hand. “That doesn’t sound like a plan.” Nor did she think finding overgrown lizards would make them lucky. If anything, it was likely to be the complete opposite of lucky. Probably something far worse than unlucky. “He never said it was a good plan,” Malachi said. “The jinni will hear them and believe we do not know they’re in the area.” “Which means what?” “They’ll stay back, expecting the lizards to take care of us.” That was what she’d feared. “Won’t they?” “Only if we disturb them.” “We might want to pick up the pace.” Malachi broke into a run.
