The Alpha’s Fae

Ebony POV “No, no, no, no, no!” I cried. Watching the steam rising from the car bonnet I pulled to the side of the road and turned the car off. This was not the way I wanted to spend my holiday! I popped the bonnet, grabbed one of my shirts and hopped out of the car, walking around to the front. Carefully I used the shirt to grab the bonnet and open it up, making sure to avoid the hot steam coming out. Honestly I had no idea about cars and how to fix them so why I was doing this was a mystery to me, I think I’d seen it in a movie once. I went back to the driver side of the car, leaned in and grabbed my bag out to find my phone. “Great, no signal!” I sighed with frustration. This was not my day! I slumped back into the driver seat and tried to figure out my options. I hadn’t seen another car while I was driving for several hours and they had been few and far apart when I did see them. There was enough food and water to last a couple days so I knew I would be fine as someone was bound to pass me by in that time. To think that I would still be chilling at home now if I hadn’t had to take this holiday, my last break as a free woman. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath trying to relax. Whenever I thought about the situation back home it gave me a panic attack. Due to a centuries old pact between the fae and the werewolves the first born girl of the fae royal family is promised to the future alpha of the werewolves. The pact is to ensure the alliance between the two races, they get a fae for her magical abilities and the fae get the continued protection of the werewolves. She is property alone unless the alpha is mateless in which case she is expected to fulfil all wifely duties. To ensure that there are no complications a spell is cast on the fae she is always tracked to prevent her from running away and blocked from ever finding her chosen one. That’s where my life went down hill, the moment I was the first born girl. I’m the one who’s destined to be married to the alpha of the Earthborne pack, Alpha Kieron Sanford. My parents, Tia and Erik Malone who are the leaders of the royal seelie court told me about the pact and my duties when I turned 5 years old. After then I was trained and educated for my future role as an alpha’s fae. Spell knowledge and memorisation was the main focus of my studies even though I hadn’t been blessed with my powers yet. It isn’t until we turn 21 that we are given our powers from the earth goddess. This holiday that I’m on is my last moments of freedom before the promise ceremony on my 21st birthday where I am blessed with my powers and am bound forever to Alpha Kieron. I wanted these two weeks to be an escape from it all, to go away somewhere peaceful with open fields, mountains and no people. I’m really starting to doubt that choice with the situation I’m in now. I wasn’t sure how long I had been sitting there when a tap on my car window makes me jump and pulls me out of my thoughts. I wound down the window and peered out, my gaze locking with a pair of mesmerisingly green eyes.
