“I hereby reject you as my mate…” he spat coldly at the table. The one man I thought I was helping and saving from my uncle, turned against me at the table with them, simply because I couldn't produce an heir. They connived and framed for treason and attempted murder of my sister, his new mistress, despite the fact that I was pregnant and sent me to the dungeons to die.But my fate wasn't done yet. Somehow, I survived and now I'm back, with just one mission, protect my baby and destroy the people that hurt me.Logan, I AM COMING FOR YOU…

Chapter 1 Geraldine's POV The end of the beginning My fingers dug into my palm, so hard, that I felt blood trailing my hands. My heart pounded hard as I swore and cursed inside me. My soul was utterly destroyed by their disrespect, but I couldn't say a word. They'll just twist it all and execute me for high treason against the Alpha. But right before me, before everyone at the banquet, Alpha Logan, my mate was busy flirting with Stephanie, and no one said anything, not even Mom and Dad. She occasionally locked eyes with me with that smirk, knowing exactly what she was doing. The chattering and dancing continues as the music intensifies and the other betas and their respective wives dance gracefully in the center of the ball. But the same couldn't be said for us, as Logan was acting like I didn't even exist now. It was my Dad's celebration of his conquest against the moonclaw pack and I didn't want to stir any drama. The sound of the cutlery filled the air as Stephanie cut from the meat, glanced at me gently and then turned to Logan, leaning in closer and held his cheek warmly. “Taste this,” she smiled at him, their lips almost too close, just a few seconds away for a kiss. “Delicious,” he nodded, acting as if he had no problem at all. Whereas, a few minutes ago, just before we came in here, we were arguing about our dying relationship. Apparently, Stephanie was too gracious to humiliate me with photos of both of them in bed, wrapped in each other's arms and I had just returned from the peace treaty with the white claws. Yesterday was also Ariella’s memorial, my sweet daughter, but he ditched it, for my sister's ass clearly. When I showed it to him, what did he do? He threatened not to mark me as his mate in the mating ceremony coming up just a fortnight from now. And when I told Logan, my mate, that I was pregnant for him, he coldly told me to get rid of it, that he would share no part in fathering such a child. But why? What did I do so wrong? “Fine meat, right?” Dad raised an eyebrow. Stephanie nodded and they both laughed. Dad went on talking about his conquest and how many men he had slain the last war and all the spoils of the war he brought back home. “You know I made this specially for you, darling,” Stephanie goggled and leaned in even further, winking at me gently while her hands danced on my mate’s chest while he smiled warmly. “Well, just how I like it. You used my mom's recipe and you know, you would make a good wife, and a good cook, love,” he chuckled and they all laughed, as though he had made one very funny joke. “Wait, is that the signature sauce you always tell me your mom made every thanks giving for you guys?” Mom joined in with a smile. “Come on, I must have some,” she smiled and they passed the plate to her. “Uhm,” she mulched the meat, savouring the taste carefully and finally smiled. “You know she takes after me, Stephanie,” she praised, except that was supposed to be an insult to me. “She's a good girl, and a good cook, just like me, isn't it honey?” Dad kissed her hand gently and smiled. “Of course.” But what the hell? Right in front of me? Everything still felt surreal to me, and my mind was racing with thoughts. It still felt like a mystery, or more like a dream, knowing he told me to get rid of my pregnancy without any concrete reasons. But as for my parents, nothing they do here surprises me. They always groomed me to be the tough daughter, the warrior and I joined Dad in his conquests, even though Mom was strongly against it. I became their enemy when I started courting Alpha Logan of the North pack and got pregnant for him without the mating ceremony. Dad only allowed it because our relationship would bring an alliance and power, but Mom called me a disgrace. And when I lost Ariella because I had gone to war and wasn't back at home to care for her, and I couldn't also get pregnant after that, everyone finally had a good reason to turn against me, not like they ever liked me. I'm only here to fill in for formalities, no one really wants me here. Not even Logan who has been too busy to even hold my hand or look me in the eye ever since we got here. The only time that happened was at the closet when he told me to abort the pregnancy. “Geraldine,” dad's deep masculine voice struck me like thunder and I jerked, turning sharply to him. His eyes narrowed as he stared quietly at me. “You've been quiet ever since. Is there anything you would like to tell us?” He raised an eyebrow and continued with the meat. I turned to Logan for a brief second, hoping I'd get that reassuring look as I hid the blood on my palm, but he remained cold and didn't take a single glance at me. “Uhm, nothing, I…I have nothing to say.” I replied, my head bent and my legs trembling. But just then, Logan's mom, Lady Elizabeth, wife of the late Lord Severin of the North walked in, her presence commanding and aura and everybody bowed at once, until she broke the silence with the most shocking question. “Geraldine,” she called slowly and I turned sharply, trying to maintain my gaze with hers. “Yes, my lady.” “What’s your plans? There's war at home and we need an heir.” her eyes narrowed and her voice sent shivers down the spines of everyone in the room. Mom and Dad sighed deeply and silence filled the place as shame engulfed me, and arraigned me in its court of judging eyes with stares I didn't understand. “Uhm, I'm pr…” “Mum, come on…” Logan cut in right away to shut me up. “We both know she can't provide an heir soon, and with the war looming and the troubles at home, wanting an heir from a barren woman is impossible,” he spat with no remorse or any sort of sympathy to me. Lady Elizabeth remained calm, but her eyes scanned Logan carefully and her brows were raised. “So? What are you going to do? War is coming soo…” “Yes, and that's why I have made better plans for that,” he smiled and my heart sank at once. My head was immediately filled with aches as I stared at him, not able to comprehend what was going on at this point. He rose up at once and Stephanie joined him, leaning in close while his hands wrapped around her waist and she kissed him right in front of everyone. The room fell silent once again and was followed by murmurs that only caused more confusion to my crazed mind. “I would like to make an announcement and I felt here was the right place and this is the right time,” he smiled. “Logan,” I called but he wasn't even looking at me. My legs were trembling as I was about to stand up when Dad held me back with a look of disappointment on his face at me. “Stephanie here,” he kissed her hand now. “Is a month pregnant with our heir,” he dropped the bombshell and it sank right into my soul, destroying every wall I had built to protect me from his cold behaviors. “What?!” My heart froze at once as tear drops rolled down my face.
