chapter 4

Danilo POV

As soon as we arrived at the pack’s hospital Alex jumped out of the pickup, and hurried over to the back to get Luna out of the car and into the hospital. I was surprised at how gentle he was with the mate he was going to reject. I smiled to myself. He’s already melting around her and he has not even officially met her, this will be fun to watch. Though I did feel bad for him. I know he puts on a too macho and fuckboy facade, to try and hide away how afraid and caring he really is. He also does it because of his dad. I’ve known this dude since we were kids. I know how noble and kind he truly is, but his dad has always tried to bring out the bad in him. His dad has always been a d**k, I’ve heard stories about Luna Clara, and it sounds like he never truly loved her. There have even been questions around her death, she was murdered in cold blood at night and he was not aware until dawn, when someone else found her. I have never told this to Alex, but the pack members do talk behind the Alpha’s back, they are all just terrified of him and what he may do.

I walk into the room where Luna was taken, and see Alex hovering over her. He tries to seem composed, but I can tell by his face he is a mess. He will never hear the end of this once we know she is safe. He nods to me almost as if he knows what I will ask him next, he hands me her backpack and I leave the room. I mindlink Scott, the pack’s Gamma and our best friend, to meet me in my office and we begin to go through her backpack. Bingo! We find her wallet and begin our little research project. I dig a little more through her pack and something burns my fingers. I flip it over and a beautiful silver necklace falls out. It looks like the clasp is broken. The pendant is a moldavite wolf, howling at a moonstone moon. There is a rune written on the moon. I am not familiar with runes, so I will have to look into this as well.

“Her name is Aime” I say more to myself.

“Yeah, and she is quite umm.. Impressive” Scott says handing me the computer and continues to look her up on his phone.

I begin to read what he’s found. She is 22. She is a psych nurse at a human hospital. Her parents and grandmother died. She has no one, this breaks my heart a bit. She has won many awards in the human towns. It looks like she volunteers and donates money all the time. She owns two companies, a medical equipment and medical research company.

“It is weird, she seems to have lots of money, but she rents an apartment” I said.

“You know how I said she was impressive?” Scott asks, I nod “Add f*****g HOT to the list of things she is.” He smirks, showing me an i********: picture from a martial arts studio. I smack him in the head. “Keep those thoughts to yourself. Alex will kill you if he hears you talking like that about his mate.” I whisper angrily at him. His eyes widened. I know I can trust him to know she is his mate. Scott, Alex and I have always been friends. Scott is the happy go lucky friend, while Alex is the pretend-to-be play, or man w***e and asshole.

“Is he rejecting her? Cause I’ll be all over her if he does” He says with a stupid smile on his face.

“Dumbass” I roll my eyes. But he was right, she is hot as f**k. Most she-wolves are very attractive, like supermodel bodies, but her… she looks like a supermodel and fitness model at the same time. Not to mention all she has done on her own. She is just insanely impressive, and completely different from the girls in the pack. I just smirk to myself, Alex is in for a ride. He always bitches about how annoying, superficial and gold digging girls are. Well… he is in for a surprise.

Scott and I have been digging for hours now, and other than what we have found, we cannot find anything else. We did go through her pictures on f*******: and i********:, we can’t deny our eyes what they cannot have. We call it a day, I want to share what we found with Alex, but he has his mind link closed. I decided to go look for him. I head to his office, but he’s not there. I try to mindlink, but I am blocked again. I head for his room, when I see him coming up the stairs looking… happy? Then I pick up a flowery scent. I just bust out laughing and his happy face turns to an I am f****d face.

Alex POV

I am f*****g annoyed at how possesive I acted towards her in the hospital, and more because I know Danilo saw. He will make a big deal out of it, I just know it. As soon as I make sure she will be ok, I take my leave. It physically hurts to let go of her, but it’s for the best. She is a power hungry she-wolf, who just found her golden ticket. Too bad, she won't get away with it. I wouldn’t mind sleeping with her before I reject her, though. I mean it is not like she won’t throw herself at me. I smile to myself. Finally, I walk out of the hospital room ignoring whatever it is I am feeling.

‘Mate needs us, go back’ Kristof yells in my head, but I just keep walking away.

I make it to the pack house and bump straight into Jessica. One of the she-wolves that constantly throws herself at me. She’s a good lay but, honestly, I just do her when no one else is available. She is annoying as f**k, and I can’t stand her. I normally f**k her from behind, so I don’t see her face. She is pretty good at b******s, though.

“Hey Alex, I was looking for you.” She says with her fake sweet voice.

“Hey Jessica, sorry I have been busy, I am actually headed to my office. I have a ton to do” I say as I walk past her.

“I could help make work a little more fun” She yells, but I ignore her and continue walking. Normally, a good blowjob could take my mind off things, but now the thing I wanted to forget is the only one I want to blow me. f**k! I need to find a distraction. I get to my office and start to work. It helps distract me for a couple hours, but then I start to think about her. It does not help that Kristof continues to nag me. ‘I miss mate’ He continued. So my thoughts keep drifting back to her. I try to focus again, luckily some hours go by this time. I hear a knock on the door and I ask them to come in.

“I kept waiting for you to come out, but you never did. I figured I would check on you. Do you want me to get anything for you?” Jessica asks. Well I am desperate enough to get that little she-wolf of my head.

“Yeah, I need you to go to my room and get on your knees.” I tell her. She squeals and runs towards my room. I get there and she is already half naked ready to suck my d**k, but just like my wolf and my best friend, my body betrays me. I can’t get it up. All I can think of is the beautiful brunette, her face and her lips. I try to picture her sucking my c**k, but nothing. The moment I see Jessica’s face, I lose my erection almost instantly. I need air. I need to go for a run. I need to get her out of my f*****g head. I take my clothes off behind a tree, shift and begin to run. I don’t even know where I am going, but I just can’t stop. I am pissed and confused. I don’t want a mate, but I can’t get her out of my head.

‘You forget I know how you truly feel’ Kristof brings me back from my trance, ‘I know you are scared of the pain thinking she will reject you, but she won’t. I know you think you can be stronger without a mate, but you can’t. She makes us stronger. Did you not notice how much stronger you felt after you touched her? She is not a weakness, she is our strength. We need her’ He explained. For the first time, I felt like Kristof was in pain, not physically, but he felt the pain that I felt. The fear of loving someone so much and them just hurting you or losing them. ‘We will protect mate. We won’t let anything happen to her. She is special, more special than you know’ Stop I begged, as tears threatened to fall from my eyes. I can’t recall the last time I cried. Yet, here I was, losing it on a heart to heart with my wolf. We turned back and in little time we were back to the pack house. I could not help it, I needed to see her. I needed to see she was ok. I got dressed and headed for the hospital.

There she was lying unconscious on her bed. Her beautiful flowery aroma filled the room. She is so beautiful. She looks so peaceful. Something about her made me feel so calm, like everything would be just fine. I approached her. I caressed her face, the sparks felt so good. I could not help it, it was like my body moved on its own. I leaned in and kissed her soft pink lips. She fidgeted a little but remained unconscious. I moved to her neck, I breathed in her scent. Kristof was right, I felt strength flow through me.

“Oh, Alpha! I was not expecting you to be here.” Dr Maynard’s voice startled me. I blushed. What the f**k’s wrong with me.

“Ahem,” I cleared my throat, “I was just checking up on her. How is she?” He gave me a knowing smile. I’m f****d.

“She is doing great actually. She heals really fast. I believe she has a very strong connection with her wolf, and I suspect she may have healing abilities.” He explained.

“ Well, great! I will take my leave then. Thanks Doc. Good night” I waved goodbye to him and walked out. I could see him smirking at me as I left. Damn

‘Mate tastes so good! I can’t wait to mate with her’ Kristof chimed with what felt like cute puppy excitement.

‘Don’t get too excited, that was just a mistake. I got carried away because the stupid mate bond.’

‘Whatever he replied’ Jokingly. I was actually feeling pretty upbeat for once, and Kristof and I were getting along, until Danilo came out of nowhere yelling at me.

“I’ve be…” he paused, sniffing the air around me. “someone looks happy” he finished with a smirk. I am double f****d.
