Thirty-One The red-tinged gates to the Legion’s mine compound were closed when Andy pulled up in front of them in the vehicle he’d stolen in Harlington. But the faint hum of a generator and the soft glow of lights rising up above the gates told him the place was not abandoned. He’d slipped out of Harlington just before the gates closed at dusk and driven non-stop to get here. Andy turned off the engine and got out of the car, then headed to the gate, eyes scanning the rocks to either side. After everything they’d been through lately, he’d be disappointed if the half-breeds hadn’t set up some kind of guard. He’d have words with Hanson if he found out that was the case.
