Chapter Six: Trip To Miami

2417 Words
Dynasty "Karma" Jones. ** "Where is my damn charger?" I asked myself as I walked around my hotel room. My flight was leaving in the next 40 minutes, and I was running late. I overslept this morning due to my phone dying and my alarm not coming on. I could already tell that today was not my day. Just as I was about to say f**k the charger and just buy another one, I found it right by the door. I grabbed my charger and placed it in my suitcase. Then I walked out of the room and walked to the elevator. I pressed the button and waited for the elevator to come. Once it came, I stepped on it and road it down to the lobby. I looked at my phone and saw that I only had 30 more minutes before my flight left. I walked to the front desk to check out. "Hey, how are you?" The lady at the front desk greeted. "Hey, I'm checking out, " I said, handing her my room keys. "Okay, " The lady said as she took the keys and placed them in a machine. Then she typed something on her computer and nodded. "Okay, I see that you checked in yesterday for a 3-night stay," She informed. I nodded. "Okay, well, let me refund you your money for tonight and tomorrow, " She added. A second later, she placed my money in my hand and said, "$640 is your change. I hope you've enjoyed your stay." "Thank you, " I said before adding, "Also, I ordered a car this morning through the hotel, and I wanted to know if the car is pulled around, " I said. "Let me check for you, " She said before going back to her computer. "Your order car service was canceled, " she added, making me frown. "Who canceled it because I did not, " I said. She looked back at her computer screen. Then she looked back at me and said, "It doesn't say, ma'am. But it's not a problem. I can just order you another right now, and it'll be ready in 20 minutes." She said. I shook my head. "There's no need because my flight will be gone by then," I said as I shook my head. "I'm sorry, ma'am," The lady said sincerely. I nodded and walked away. I walked out of the hotel and let out a breath. "Today is not my f*****g day," I said. "And why is that?" I heard a voice say. I turned around and saw Chance. He dressed in a white suit. He looked nice, but I wouldn't dare tell him that. "Chance," I let out a breath. "Do not f**k with me this morning," I added. "And what the f**k are you doing here?" I asked him. "First, watch your mouth. Second, we have a flight to catch, remember?" He stated. "No, no, no," I disagreed. "I had a flight to catch, but I missed it due to me being late," I said. "Well, good thing I canceled your car order, " He said. "I know damn well you didn't, " I said. He smirked. "Oh, but I did, " He said. I walked up to him and stood right in his face. "Look, I don't know what or who gave you the authority to make decisions for me, but that's not how this works," I said. "Ima need you to leave me the hell alone and go on about your day, " I added. He nodded. "Can't do that, " He said. "We have to work together on this if we want this to work. You have some info that I need, and I have some info that you need." He added. "I work solo, and I don't need any info from you, " I said, dismissing the idea. "Do you really?" He asked. "So, do you know that he's leaving in the morning to go to Dubai?" He asked. "Of course, " I said. "And you know that he sent people up here to watch you collect me?" He asked, shocking the hell out of me. Once he saw the look on my face, he smirked. "Oh, so you didn't know about that one?" He asked with humor laced in his tone. I rolled my eyes. "I didn't know about that one, " I said. "But I work solo. If we work together, you'd only get in my way." I said. "Girl, if I work with you, we'll get the job done quicker, " He said. "And how do you know that?" I asked. "I have heard about you, " He stated. "I've heard great things actually, " He added. "And since you've had a whole damn file on me, I know you know that I'm a man of my word and that I'm a great partner to have, " He stated. "Chan-" He cut me off. "I don't wanna hear s**t else," He said. "We are going to board my private jet and be on the way to Miami." He added. "And before you say no, just remember that this is the only flight you'll have to get back to Miami until tomorrow since the flight that you booked has already boarded." He stated. I thought about what he just said and sighed. "Okay," I said before a smirk appeared on his face. "Right this way, Ms. Karma," He said, guiding me to the Bentley that was parked on the curb. He opened the backseat's door and motioned me to enter the car. I got in the car. Then he followed suit. "To my airport," He told the driver. "Nice car," I complimented as I looked around the car. "Thanks," He muttered. "So, what's the plan?" I asked. He lifted his index finger before he let up a black window that separated the front from the back. "Ight, this is how it's gone go," He said before he explained the whole thing. To my surprise, it was actually a good ass plan. "Not so bad, Combs," I said. "Now, you're calling me by my last name," He said with a salty expression. "Problem?" I asked smartly. "You know what, I refuse to argue with yo ass today," He said as if I was the problem. "Good, we are on the same page then," I said before I looked out of the window and looked at the scenery. About 30 minutes later, we had pulled up to a lot that had four planes on it and a Cadillac Escalade. "Park by the Escalade," He told his driver. The driver nodded and did as told. Once we parked, we got out of the car. I grabbed my bags and followed behind Chance. "Do you need help with your bags, Miss?" The driver asked me. "N-" Before I could even get all of my words out. Chance cut me off. "I hired you to work for me, not her, " Chance said. "Here, take my s**t, " Chance added, handing him his bags. Then he walked and got on the jet. I can't believe his rude ass just did that. "I don't know how you do it, sir, " I said to him as I shook my head disapprovingly. "Pays the bills, " He answered after he sighed. I nodded understandingly. "But why don't you hand me his bags, " I said. "I'll carry them, " I added. "I couldn't ask you to do that, " He said. "No, I got it, " I said, grabbing Chance's bag from him. "You can go ahead and go about your day," I said. "Are you sure?" He asked. I nodded. "Yes," I said. "It was nice meeting you," I added. He smiled. "Nice meeting you too," He said as he opened the driver's side door. He got in and closed the door. Then he let down the window and said, "Be careful with him, ma'am." I smirked. "He better be careful with me," I said before I winked. He nodded and pulled away from the lot. I dropped Chance's bags on the ground. Then I walked to the jet and got on. "What took you so long?" Chance asked me. "Business, " I said, sitting on the opposite side of him. Then I felt his eyes on me. "See something you like?" I asked as I met eyes with him. He smirked before he chuckled. "Woman, don't flatter yourself, " He said as he chuckled. "Well, keep your eyes off of me, " I said before looking out of the window. "Where my bags?" He asked me. I shrugged before I stuck my airpods in my ears. A few minutes later, the jet took off. I looked out the window and bobbed my head to the music that flowed into my ears. During the ride, I would occasionally catch eyes with Chance. Instead of turning away once I caught him staring, he continued to stare. I ignored him and turned my attention back to looking out of the window. A few hours later, we had finally made it to Miami. Chance's pilot had landed the jet at the airport where I parked my Jeep. "Where my damn bags?" Chance asked me. "In Chicago, " I answered as I got off of the jet. "f**k you mean in Chicago?" He asked me as he followed me off the plane. "I got the bags from your driver. Then I dropped them on the ground and left them." I said. "I swear to God ima kill your ass, " Hs said. "Don't be lying and putting stuff on my God, " I said, looking at him. "Bit-" He cut himself off from finishing the word. "Look, Karma, I really don't like yo ass, " He said. "Feelings are mutual, " I said. "But in order for this s**t to work tonight, we're going to have put up with each other. So let's be acquaintances for tonight and get this s**t over with. Then we don't have to deal with each other no more." He said. "Ight, " I said before walking away from him. I begin walking to my Jeep with him right behind me. Once I got it, I unlocked the door and got in. Chance got into the passenger's side. Then I sped off from the airport. "Damn, you riding dirty," Chance said, grabbing one of my glocks from the side of the door. I looked over at him and chuckled. "Got to," I said as my phone started ringing. Since it was hooked to my car, I looked at the radio's screen and saw it was from Desirae. I accepted the call. "Hello," I answered. "Hey, sissy," She said. "Wassup?" I asked. "You're still in Chicago?" She asked me. "Nah, I just got back," I said. "What that?" I asked. "Can you pick me up from Layla's house?" She asked me. "I'm kind of busy, Rae," I said. "Where is your dad?" I asked. "He's not answering," She said. "Jasha?" I asked her. "Not answering," She said. "Can Layla's mom drop you off at my house?" I asked her. "Layla's dad is gone in their car," She said. "s**t, man," I said. The last thing I wanted to do was bring my sister anywhere around my line of work. I couldn't drop Chance off at his hotel because he booked a hotel way across town, so it leaves me no choice but to bring her around work.  "Okay, I'll be there in 5 minutes," I added. "Okay," She said before hanging up. "I'm finna make a quick detour," I told Chance.  "Ight," He said as he typed on his phone. Because of traffic, I made it to Layla's house in 10 minutes instead of 5 minutes. I pulled up to the house and blew my horn. A few seconds later, Desirae came out and ran to my Jeep. She was about to get into the passenger's side, but she saw Chance already there. So she got into the back. I turned around and looked at her. She looked cute.  "Who dropped you off over here?" I asked her. "My dad," She answered. I nodded and turned around. Then I backed out of the driveway and sped down the road "Dynasty?" She called. I looked at her through the rearview mirror to see her pointing at Chance and asking who was he. I chuckled. "Jackass right here goes by the name of Chance," I said, making her chuckle. I could feel Chance's eyes on me.  "You keep on f*****g with me," He said, making me smirk. "And I can introduce myself," He added. "My name is Chance," He said. "What's yours?" He asked her. I looked at her through the rearview mirror to see her asking me was it okay to talk to him with her eyes. I nodded. "Desirae," She answered. "But my dad and sister call me Rae or Desi," She added.  "Well, nice meeting you, Rae," He said. "You too," She said.  Deciding to keep their talking to a minimum, I went to my music and blasted some Kevin Gates.  I bobbed my head to the music while Chance rapped some of the lyrics. I pulled up to the hotel he had booked and waited for him to get out. "I'll be back in an hour or two to take you to get some clothes," I said. "That's the least you can do," He said. I chuckled. "But ight, I'll see you then, Dynasty," He said before he plastered a smirk across his face, which made me squint my eyes at him. "And nice meeting you, Rae," He added before closing the door and walking into the hotel. I pulled away from the hotel, and that's when Desirae started asking question after question.  "How do you know him?"  "He's one of my acquaintances," I said.  "Oh, like a friend?" She asked. "No," I answered. "Like a coworker," I added. "Oh, y'all work at th-" I cut her off. "Rae, just sit back and ride," I said. "Ok," She said, folding her arms.  I didn't have time to be interviewed by Desirae. All I wanted to do was get her back to her dad's house, so I could handle business. "Rae, you know I love you, right?" I asked. She nodded. "Okay, just don't ever forget that," I added. "Okay," She said. "I love you too, sissy," She added, making me smile.
