Chapter One: Dynasty's Story

1745 Words
Dynasty "Karma" Jones. ** "Desirae, come on!!" I yelled. "We are already running late!!" I added. "I'm coming, sissy!!" She yelled back. As I waited for her, I walked into the kitchen to retrieve my purse off the counter. I looked inside of it to make sure I had my wallet, keys, and phone in it. A few seconds later, I heard Desirae's footsteps coming. "I'm ready," She said. I nodded. "Grab your book bag from the living room," I instructed as I walked to the front door. She grabbed her bed and walked to the front door, which was where I was standing. "Do you have everything?" I asked her. She nodded. Then we walked out of my apartment and walked down the steps to the parking lot. I unlocked the doors to my Jeep Wrangler. Then we got in. I started the engine and backed out of the parking spot then sped away from my apartment complex. I looked at the time and cursed. It was currently 8:20 am, and Desirae has to be at school by 8:30 am. My apartment is 20 minutes away from Desirae's school, which means she would be 10-15 minutes late. I sped down the interstate going 100mph, trying to get her to school at least before 8:40 am. "Dynasty?" Desirae called. "Hmm?" I answered. "Why can't I just stay the weekend over my dad's then come back to your house?" She asked. I sighed. "Desirae, you know the agreement Tyrone and I came up with," I said. "You stay for two weeks with him then two weeks with me, " I added. She sighed. "Okay, " She muttered. "Why?" I questioned. "Something happened?" I asked. "Well, Jasha be treating me wrong. She is mean to me." She said. I looked over at her. "You told your dad?" I asked. She shook her head no. "I'll handle it, Desirae, " I added. She nodded, still looking sad. I sighed. "How about I come to pick you up Saturday, and we have a girl's day?" I asked. She smiled. "I'll have to check my schedule, " She joked. "Girl, please, " I said before laughing. A few moments later, I was pulling to her school. "Have a good day, Desi, I love you," I told her as she grabbed her book bag and got out of the car. "Love you too, see you Saturday," She said. I smiled and watched her walk into the building. Before I pulled off, I typed in the address to my next destination. I rode in silence as I drove down the busy streets of Miami and drowned in my thoughts. The main thing I was thinking about is my mother. She used to be one of my favorite people in the world, but that changed when I was about 16. She got hooked to drugs and abandoned Desirae and me. I took care of Desirae for a whole four months after our mom left. But when we got evicted, I had to let Desirae stay with her father. Even though I was homeless and broke, I couldn't let my baby sister be homeless and struggle with me. Desirae was just 3 when our mom left. She doesn't even remember her, and that's a great thing. I wish I couldn't remember her either. But from the ages of 16-18, I struggled so much. They were the worst years of my life. I couldn't even enjoy my high school years because I was too busy being an adult. At the age of 17, I was working two jobs and going to school. I had even got an apartment, but life still was so hard. But that changed once I met Deion Anderson. He was a businessman with a heart of gold. He hired me at his company and helped me through the worst stages of my life. On my 18th birthday, Deion was killed right in front of me. Deion was mistaken for someone else. After Deion was killed, I vowed to find the man who killed Deion and torture him to death. After killing the man who killed Deion, not only did I keep killing people who killed innocent people, but something else happened to me. My strength exceeded and so did my ability to fight. That's how I began my lifestyle. I snapped out of my thoughts and saw that I had just made it to my destination. I looked and read the sign on top of the building. A&J Law Firm.  I grabbed my handbag and slid my sunglasses on before I jumped out of my Jeep. I locked the doors and walked into the building. Then I walked to the front desk. "Hey, how may I help you?" The lady asked. "I have a meeting with Elgon Johnson," I said, scrunching my face up as I pronounced his first name. "Ms. Karma?" She questioned, frowning slightly. I nodded. "One second please," She said as she grabbed her phone and began calling someone. As she called someone, I looked around the building taking in my surroundings. I looked at how everyone was moving and how they were dressed. Everyone either had on a skirt and a button-down shirt, slacks and a button-down shirt, or a dress. I was definitely out of place. I had on some skinny black jeans with a white Polo V-neck and some combat boots. "Follow me," The lady said, snapping me out of my thoughts as she got up to lead me to Elgon's office. She knocked on the door first and stood to the side so that I could walk in.  "Thank you, Ms. Sheldon," Elgon said, dismissing the lady who had brought me in here. She walked away and closed the door. "Ms. Karma?" He asked. I looked at him and nodded. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you," He said. "Can we get on with the meeting?" I asked. I didn't want to converse with him about anything, none other than the meeting. "Yes, " He said. "Please have a seat, " He added. I took a seat and wait for him to start. "I need for you to find a man name D'Angelo Pride and kill him, " He added. "I don't think you know how this works. I don't go around killing people who have pissed you off. I kill those who have hurt innocent people. If Pride hasn't hurt anyone innocent, I cannot work with you." I said. "Oh, but he has, " He said bitterly. "He r***d my baby girl three months ago, " He said as tears pooled into his eyes. I could tell he was telling the truth. Most people try to scheme and lie to me about a person. But little did they know I can tell when someone is lying. "Why didn't you go to the police instead of calling me?" I asked. "I did, " He answered. "They can't seem to find him, " He added. "One of my colleagues pointed me in the direction of you. He said that you were one of the best assassins ever." He said. "Please do not label as an assassin. That term is very trashy and disrespectful." I said. "Can you tell me when the last time he was seen around here?" I asked. "Sorry about that, " He apologized. "The last time anyone has ever seen him was three months ago. The night he r***d my daughter." He spoke. I nodded. "Do you know what kind of car he was driving, or what he was wearing?" I asked. "He was driving a blue 98' Mustang and leather black jacket with khakis, " he answered. "Race?" I asked. "White, " He answered. I nodded. "Friends or family?" I asked. "The police only could find one person that was associated with him, Malcolm Davis, " Elgon said. "They went to question him, but they didn't find anything, " He added. "Okay, I got everything I needed, " I spoke as I stood up. "75k now and 75k later, " I said. He nodded and handed me a black duffle bag. "Thank you so much, " He said. I nodded. "Just doing my job, " I said before walking out. I walked out of the building and walked to my Jeep Wrangler. I got in and threw the duffle bag in the back. I started the engine and drove to Desirae's dad's house. I knew her dad would be at work, but her stepmom would be there. It was a 20-minute drive, but I got there in 13 minutes to be exact. I parked behind a black Hyundai Sonata and got out. I walked to the front door and knocked. A few moments later, Jasha appeared staring me down. "Hey, Dynasty, " She spoke. "What are you do-" I cut her off as I pushed passed her and sat on the coffee table. "Dynasty, that was quite rud-" I cut her off again. "Sit, " I instructed. Jasha let out a breath before sitting. "I've never had a problem with you, but that was until my sister told me you were mistreating her, " I said. "Mistreating her?" She questioned. "I treat Desirae as if she was my own," She added. I could tell that she was lying. "You're lying, " I said. Jasha scoffed. "How dare you barge into me my home and accuse me of mistreating Desirae and lying about it!?" She asked, raising her voice. "I'm not raising my voice at you, so do not raise yours, " I said. "Dynasty, I think it's time for you to leave, " She said as she stood up and tried to walk to the door. But I stood up quickly and grabbed her by her neck. "Listen, I was trying to have a mature conversation with you but f**k that," I said as I squeezed her neck tighter. "Watch how you treat my sister. I don't play about her. Let me hear anything else about you mistreating her. I promise you I won't be so nice." I gritted out before pushing her back down on the couch. "Oh, and Tyrone ain't hear s**t about this, " I said. "Okay?" I asked. She nodded in fear.  I walked out of the house and walked to my Jeep and got in. Then I started the engine and drove back to my apartment so that I could get started on my latest mission.
