Layla’s POV Donna didn’t knock. She never did when she was afraid. She simply slipped into my chambers just before dawn, closing the door carefully behind her. Her shoulders were tensed, and her eyes looked sharper than they had been the night before. She didn’t greet me and instead, crossed the room and went straight to the window, peering through the sheer curtains like she expected someone to be listening. “We’re being watched,” she said quietly.
