Avery's POV
We get to the bar by my work pretty fast.. It's in a hotel so nothing too fancy or huge by any means.. But it seems to look like it might get a good amount of business people hence why I was probably here.. Maybe it was just a long day or maybe I was meeting up with a client.. who knows.
"Are you sure this is where you brought my wallet?" I ask Stevie as she just vigorously nods. I quickly walk to the bartop with a man setting up for the night shift, while they seem to look slow.
"Hello, sorry to bother you sir, I was wondering if I could talk to you really fast please?" I ask as nicely as I can muster up for this stranger.. But I guess he is only a stranger to me because he responds without hesitation. "Sir? The last time I saw you, you were screaming my name and it didn't involve sir." My mouth drops open at his blunt, shameless response as I feel Elijah step up right behind me before he protectively replies. "What did you just say to her?"
The bartender puts his hands up in surrender instantly at the threatening looks he is being sent by my man, as he states, "s**t man I was just playing with her.. I only made out with her, and I tried to take her home, but she turned me down.. So chill man it was just a joke."
I clear my throat, trying to do something to break the tension in the small area now.. It doesn't seem to work, so I quickly take Elijah's hand into mine and rubbing the outside of it with my thumb.
"Ok.. well thanks for stressing my man out.. but I was wondering if you remember at all where I went after I was here months ago?" I ask him curiously as he looks confused.
"Do you not remember any of that night or something? We really hit it off and went from bar to bar hanging out the whole night, after I got off of my shift of course.. The only reason I didn't get the chance to take you home is because your husband showed up.. and it wasn't this guy.." He explains looking more confused as he explains pointing at us.
"No I'm sorry I don't remember you.. I got into a car wreck that night and was put into a coma that gave me amnesia.. I'm just trying to retrace my steps.." I explain as best as I can with the most sympathetic look on my face trying to make sure I don't hurt his feelings by not remembering him.
"Oh shit.. no wonder you never called or ever came back in until today.. that sucks.. I'm so sorry Avery.. um.. We bar hopped to a couple places and I can write them down for you.. But your husband showed up and said he was going to give you a ride home.. You said that him being nice to you wasn't going to make up for him cheating on you and that your still done with him.. He responded by saying that he just wants to talk with you and make sure you got home fine because he didn't want you driving like that. So I left you my number and took off before I got in trouble." He responds back with so much empathy that I can't help but smirk at him for being so honest with me.
"Ok can you write down the name of the last bar that we were at.. please.. and you didn't see anyone else? Just him? You know.. before you left." I ask him as he nods replying, "Yes actually, there were a couple people with him.. A man and woman.. but I have never seen them before.. and they didn't say anything to me so I can't tell you who they were or what they were doing.. Sorry I hope that remotely helps.. and here.. this.. is the bar we were at.. along with my number just in case things don't work out with this new husband of yours.. Because you might not remember that night, but I do and we had a wonderful time." He takes my open hand, kissing the back of it before putting the paper he wrote on into my palm, causing me to blush. "Oh, um.. thank you.. but I'm very happy with my new man.." I explain nervously as I rub my thumb continuously on the back of his hand because I can feel him slightly squeezing it. I think subconsciously, not anything bad towards me.
"Oh so your not married again? And just casually seeing this guy? So does that mean you're now newly single? Because if you're not busy tonight. I don't have any plans.." He says as nonchalantly as I have ever seen in an uncomfortable situation.. I can't tell if he is serious or if he is just trying to piss Eli off but either way it's working completely.
"I'm not married anymore but I am taken by this handsome man so you will have to find some other plans for tonight.. But thank you for your help and I hope you have a good rest of your day." I state, turning around and having to pull Elijah out from behind me as we hear. "Ok well if that changes then call me Avery!"
I just keep walking, not wanting to stop or respond to him, because I'm worried Elijah is going to do something if he is given the chance.
Elijah is reluctantly following me as I give Stevie a look and I think she knows what I mean, as she gets into my vehicle leaving the both of us outside for a second so I can try to make him feel better. I have to do something to make sure he knows I want him and just him.
I turn around to Elijah as I quickly take his face into my hands and crashing my lips to his, he takes this action by pulling me in posessively pushing his lips into mine more. I break the kiss as I say softly unto his lips. "Eli don't let him bother you ok? I won't be calling him and I don't know what I did before, but I'm sorry.. Even though I didn't even know you yet. I still feel bad.. but just know you're the one I want and don't think twice about his advances because I won't." I try to make him feel as best as I can but I honestly don't know if it's working.
Until he pushes his lips back into mine kissing me just for a moment until he replies to me. "I know your just saying and doing this so I won't be mad but thank you.. I appriciate the effort." I shake my head without hesitation as he looks confused at me, so I gently caress his cheek with my thumb that's still on it.
"You don't know how bad I wanted to be with you and wished you were my husband when I woke up.. You have been everything I needed when I have had no one else and words cannot describe how greatful I am that you were brought into my life.. I swear you're what I want and need and no man hitting on me is going to change that." I state making him grin so I humorously add on.. "Well.. except maybe if it's Chris Hemsworth.." I playfully state as he scoffs at that ending to my answer before he replies, "Yea if he was here I might be leaving you for him too." I bust up laughing at that response making him smile even bigger.
"You honestly mean that Avery?" He asks me for reassurance about my comment, as I smile big at him stating, "Of course, I really like him as an actor!" He rolls his eyes and shaking his head, turning to walk to the car before I pull his arm so he doesn't leave. This action gains his attention so I continue to try to reassure.
"I meant every word Eli.. You don't know how much all of this means to me and if we are being completely honest.. to make you feel better when it comes to my feelings.. and at the risk of sounding crazy.. so I'm sorry if this is not what you want to hear.. but I have been falling for you and your kind genuine heart for a while now and very quickly.. I don't think anyone could take your place even on their best day.. So nothing to worry about. No one else has anything on you." This explaination makes him smile bigger than I have ever seen, letting me know this comforting with my feelings was a success.
"That doesn't sound crazy at all. You don't know how bad I have wanted to hear that.. I haven't been able to get you out of my head for the whole month now and thought I was being crazy by feeling this way." He states making me smile at him.
"Well if you're crazy then I guess I am too.. because I'm the one that moved in with you before even really being with you.. so I guess we can just be crazy together." I state as he smiles nodding before pecking my lips again.
"Ok crazy.. Let's get going so we can figure out what else happened that night." He instructs as I nod taking his advice so we both climb back into my vehicle to get this show on the road.
