The Beginning of Almost
Love is beautiful, but it can be complicated; something movies didn't prepare us for.
Eva, a rich girl from a wealthy family. She was born into happiness. Her father, a renowned businessman in town, ensured she lacked nothing from her childhood. Everything in her life seemed perfect, but she never took it for granted. Understanding that her parents were the reason for her abundance, she consistently strived to excel in everything.
Despite being fortunate and content within her loving family, the constant pressure took a toll on her. She never let anyone know about it, leading people around her to perceive her as a spoiled brat from a wealthy family due to her branded clothes and easy access to everything. Despite the judgments, she couldn't alter this perception as part of a well-known family, requiring her to maintain a flawless image, even though she knew people spoke ill of her. She continued to do her best, not wanting to tarnish her loving family's image.
It's Monday, the first day of school after the long holiday break. Eva got ready to go to school. She attends one of the prestigious schools in town. Even though she earned a perfect score to get into the school, a rumor spread that her family paid for enrollment. After getting ready, Eva came down to eat breakfast. Every day, the whole family eats breakfast and dinner together, a rule that Eva's mom set up for a nice family time. They talk about their day and share worries with each other while having a nice meal.
"Eva, eat faster; it's the first day. You don't want to be late," said Eva's father over coffee.
"The break's already over; it felt like yesterday we were out of town," remarked Eva’s brother.
Eva's brother, Daniel, is 5 years older than her. He is still studying and working under his father in the company. He is a brilliant son. From a very young age, he excelled at everything. People from the company say he is going to do better than Eva's father one day.
"Daniel, it's because you do everything faster that everything seems to speed up for you," teased Eva.
"Says the sloth herself," Daniel laughed, prompting Eva to playfully point a knife and say, "Hey, don't insult me when I'm praising you."
"Okay, okay. I won't. Now eat faster and go. Don't become a sloth for real," urged Daniel.
Hastily finishing her breakfast, Eva ran, exclaiming, "I'm done. I'm going. See you guys at dinner."
"Don't forget to greet Darius. His father is visiting soon. Try your best to be friends with him," Eva's father shouted.
"I don't want to!" Eva replied, closing the door behind her.
Darius Darwin, the son of Albert Darwin—one of the wealthiest and most influential businessmen in town—is no stranger to Eva’s family. Despite their companies being rivals, the two fathers have always maintained a cordial relationship.
With Eva and Darius attending the same school, their families see an opportunity to bring them closer, hoping their connection might benefit both businesses. Still, neither family is particularly insistent on the idea. Even if the two remain nothing more than friends, they would be perfectly content.
Though, that might be easier said than done.
Because Eva has other plans for Darius. Or perhaps, her heart already does.
In school, Eva is often perceived as a brat, while Darius holds the status of the school's muse—a perfect guy who is rich, kind, handsome, and smart. Eva's upbringing as a refined and perfection-seeking young lady has created a barrier, making people believe she's difficult to approach and converse with. In contrast, Darius, an outgoing and fun-loving soul, engages in basketball and easily connects with everyone, making him approachable and easy to make friends with.
Eva got a major crush on Darius, and it was not just a crush –Eva found herself harboring deep feelings for Darius. She was in love with him. They used to play together when they were little, but Darius moved to another country for school. They lost touch, grew up, and became different people. But after a few years, Darius reappeared at her school. Eva was both shocked and enchanted by the man he had become. He wasn't the little boy she used to play with; he had become the perfect guy. Eva fell for his personality without realizing it. Even though they chat now and then, Eva gets all flustered every time she talks to him. But now she doesn't have any choice but to speak with him more. She's happy about it but also kind of scared.
