Unfortunately, Carolina's family wasn't so lucky. They were stuck at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and called to tell her the bad news. The woman would (most likely) be alone over Christmas, and they would (most likely) be having a Christmas dinner from the airport vending machines.
Carolina called Mrs. Arkenstone to tell her the sad news. She also wanted to ask if it would be an ok time to return the mixing bowl her neighbor had thoughtfully let her borrow.
Parker picked up the phone by saying, "Merry Christmas, the Arkenstones."
Carolina: "Parker? Is that you?"
Parker: "Miss. Carolina?"
Carolina: "Yes, when did you get home?"
