Sierra’s POV
Of course, that is what I should do. That is what every woman who catches her husband cheating on her would do, right? But me… that isn’t the case. I’m not allowed to choose what I want.
“And you think I don’t want to do that?” I say quietly, my voice trembling with barely restrained rage. “I want to, Lily, but I can’t.”
Lily’s eyes narrow in disbelief; she is obviously confused about what I want to do but can’t. “What do you mean?”
I swallow hard, then sigh. “Varek said I’m unattractive. He said I’m not wild enough. And when he told me he wouldn’t divorce me because he needs me to keep performing Luna duties, but that we would be in an open marriage instead?”
Her eyes and mouth hang open. She steps closer to me and places a hand on my shoulder. “Are you for real?”
“Yes, I am,” I answer calmly.
“Is he blind? Why would he call you unattractive?!” she asks, her voice laced with disbelief.
“He said I’m too fat.”
She scoffs angrily. “Really? Too fat?” she repeats, as if the words taste like poison on her lips. “Does he think every woman should be a size eight? If everyone is meant to be a size eight, then why are there clothes in other sizes?”
I don’t say anything more.
Lily doesn’t speak for a long moment either. She just stares at me like she’s trying to ascertain if I’m serious. Then, when my expression gives nothing away, she pulls me into a comforting embrace.
“That asshole doesn’t deserve you,” she mutters, patting my back gently and kissing my hair. “Six years and that bastard dares treat you like that! You are his mate, for Goddess’ sake! You’re beautiful! Strong! Brave! Don’t let a man with no value make you lose yours.”
I nod, forcing back my tears as her encouraging words settle in my heart, and I wrap my arms around her. “It’s fine, Sierra. Really.”
I want to explain to her that I feel no pain from our bond, even when he cheats with Mira right in front of me, but I decide against it.
After a while, she pulls back. “Open marriage, right?” She laughs devilishly, then her expression hardens again. “Then you should give him a taste of his own medicine. I bet he won’t be able to dish out half of what he did to you.”
“What do you mean?” I ask, confused.
Lily throws her hair back and folds her arms across her chest. “Men can’t withstand their wives cheating back. Forget about the fact that he suggested the open marriage… if he sees you with a man, he won’t be able to stay calm anymore.”
I nod. Sure… he won’t be able to. For instance, this morning he choked me because I didn’t sleep home last night.
Her voice drops into a low whisper as she continues. “You should get a hot boyfriend and introduce him to Varek. Someone who would satisfy your s****l needs too.”
My breath seizes and I don’t realize when I start coughing vigorously.
Sexual needs?
It sounds exactly like the Nightmoor prince would say it.
Lily quickly turns away toward the fridge, retrieves a bottle of water, and hands it over to me. I snatch it away, uncork it, and gulp down the cold liquid that does nothing to drown out the prince’s voice from my mind.
Lily pats my back. “Easy.”
“Thank you.”
Unaware of the unease curling up inside me, she continues. “You really need to step up in s*x, Era. You need a man who can flip you any way he wants. Someone who would choke you with his huge c**k… not that boring husband of yours.”
I blink several times, forcing a smile at her.
How does she know?
That I even took a class on s*x yesterday, and damn… the prince choked me with their huge c***s.
Should I tell her about the princes?
No, I shouldn’t. It’s too embarrassing to even think about, let alone put it up for discussion.
“You’re too innocent, and that’s why Varek thinks he can push you around. Become a sexy seductress, seduce that bastard, and then plan your exit when he least expects it.”
I nod. That sounds like a good plan. Seduce him and plan my exit.
“I’ll introduce you to a friend. His father is the Beta chairman, and he is way more powerful than Varek.”
Another man, after the twins had almost ruined me?
That would mean… three men?
No. That’s bad. I can’t be that much of a slut, right? Sharing myself with different men just because my husband drags me into an open marriage? I value myself too much to give myself to every man just to prove a point.
First, I need time to think. Time to renew my energy before I do something I might regret forever.
“I’m not interested, Lily,” I say quietly. “I just want to focus on myself for now… maybe later, I might consider taking a boyfriend.”
Lily sighs and rolls her eyes in frustration. She opens her mouth to talk, but a gentle knock on the door cuts her off.
I snap my head toward the door. “Come in."
The door creaks open and Dorian, the school assistant—a young Omega guy with stylish dark hair—steps in with a parcel and a bouquet of Lavender flowers in his hands. “Luna,” he says, bowing. “A dispatch rider dropped this for you.”
My face crumples in a mix of confusion and disbelief. Who would send me flowers and a parcel? Of course, Varek is out of the question. Even when we are on good terms, he never sends me gifts.
Lily exchanges a curious glance with me. “Did Varek send it?”
“I don’t know who sent it,” I reply with a shrug, taking the box and bouquet from Dorian. My eyes narrow as I scan the box. No name from the sender; just addressed to Luna Sierra.
I glance up. “Thank you, Dorian.”
Dorian flashes me a polite smile, bows, and walks out of the room.
I don’t realize when a smile curls my lips as I inhale the flowers. The nice and refreshing fragrance fills my nostrils, easing the chaos inside me.
Whoever sent this must know me well to choose my favorite flower. I stare at the box, and just as I’m about to pull off the seal, Lily snatches it away from me.
“Don’t tell me you really have a secret admirer, Era?” She tears open the seal. “And this is what I’m talking about—explore, mingle, since you’re as good as single. Make that bastard regret ever calling you unattractive.”
I let her have her way and just grab the flowers, inhaling them again.
A moment passes.
“What the hell is this?!” she screams.
I snap my head toward her and see a red, curved, weird-looking object in her hand. My eyes are fix on it for a while before recognition sets in. My heart slams. My hands fly to my mouth to halt the scream threatening to spill out.
“Is this—” I start, but I can’t bring myself to say it.
She completes my statement. “A dildo?”
