7 Where is Sukey? Meredith I HALF WALKED HALF RAN back to the stables. Dickie, our stable lad, had the horses saddled and ready. A quick check on Runnymede showed he was calming down. Dickie said he’d given him a quick rub down while he waited for me. He gave me a hand up and passed me the binoculars before mounting his horse. “We’ll check the usual paths first and then the perimeter,” I told him. We set off with me scoping the land around us as we went. I was thankful that it was midsummer and wouldn’t get dark until after ten.
