9 Sukey Sukey I SLID DOWN ONTO THE GROUND and darted off under his arm but he was too quick for me and caught me in a rugby tackle before I’d gone ten paces. The thick padding on my jodhpurs had saved me from the vicious grazes I would have gotten had I fallen on the rough forest floor with bare knees, but I was winded. My knees were sure to be bruised. He towed me along beside the stream working uphill with Bijou bringing up the rear. Bijou had gone from barking to whining. We came to the entrance to this place.
