Coming out of the coma

Already in the hospital with Eduardo, Maristela by his side, fondling his face, noticed him opening the eyes, lost, trying to say something, a very low voice called her, his love. Maristela was very happy and called the doctor, who arrived quickly and confirmed that it was true, Eduardo was finally out of his coma. Half confused Eduardo looked at his mother and father with tears streaming down his face and asked his first question, trying to get out of bed, realizing that he could not, he said still in tears.

— Mum… Dad… what happened? Where is she, where is Gabriella? Why can't I feel my legs?

— Son, calm, it's everything alright! — Clovis immediately makes a sign to Maristela.

— Mother, answer me, say something, please, tell me where is Gaby?

Maristela tries to calm her son down, while Clovis runs to call the doctor again. The doctor and a nurse enter the room and ask Maristela and Clovis to leave for a while. Clovis takes the opportunity to tell Maristela about the latest events. After opening up, he says that he only didn't speak earlier because he didn't want to make her head even fuller with worry. Maristela, terrified at what she had just heard, was in a state of shock.

— I only needed this one, with so many girls of our social class, Edu will be enchanted with a girl that has nothing to do with us? Is this the girl he woke up looking for? — She asks herself, still not believing that the daughter of the gardener was the girl her son was calling for. Then, the doctor calls them back to the room and asks

— It is a young woman who was with him at the moment that the accident occurred — Clovis replies.

Sometime later, Eduardo wakes up a little calmer and full of questions but is terrified when he feels that he cannot move his legs, he freaks out and leaves Maristela in panic. Even bewildered by his new condition, he does not forget Gabriella and insists on knowing only if she is well, he wants to be sure that she survived the accident, after getting his answers, he locks himself inside with the illusion that she would no longer accept dating an invalid. Six months later, Eduardo without his old mobile phone, isolated from his friends and without any news from Gabriella does everything to get back to walking in the hope of seeing his little bride again, trying his best to recover doing the physiotherapy to the letter. Marina eager to know news and talk about her sister's pregnancy goes to her house and is received by Maristela who calls for a conversation, after introducing herself and asking for news of the boy. Before she starts talking about her sister's pregnancy, Maristela cuts in and interrupts the girl, saying

— Look, young lady, I'll be very brief with you, I'm sorry for what happened to your sister, but Eduardo is very weak, without the slightest condition to receive any visitors at the moment, so I want to make you a proposal that will be viable for everyone. Let's do the following, I will give you a small allowance to maintain your life for a while, so that you can help me with Eduardo who is depressed because of his physical condition.

Realizing that she was not welcome in that place, Marina accepted his proposal. As she accepted the bribe, all she could think about was her sister and the baby on the way. Marina could barely disguise her dissatisfaction, but she had no other alternative, after reaching the conclusion that Gabriella's pregnancy would not be well accepted by Eduardo's family, she just replied:

Eduardo, after everything that has happened, I have gone through difficult times and I want to end this relationship. I am going away with my parents and I ask you to forget me. I don't love you enough to continue. I'm sorry, but it's better for us. I'm with my family and I'm going back to my place, don't look for me.

With everything settled, Marina takes the check and leaves. Then Maristela puts the letter in the middle of other correspondence so that reaches Eduardo's hands as soon as possible.

Gabriella had left the hospital going to Susana's house, still without memory and completely in love with her little tummy, every day bigger, she spent hours with her gaze lost in the photographs in which she was with Eduardo asking herself:

— Why do I feel this tightness in my chest when I see you and can't remember you? How I would like to know you, where are you now? If we were so important to the other as they say, why didn't you ever show up? — With one hand fondling her belly comes uncertainty. Is this baby inside me, your son?
