"Arrrrrrgh!"
Thump.
'Meow!'
"Ugh"
"What's going on in there? Are you okay? My dad asked while knocking on my door.
I scrambled to get up, dusting my hair. I just missed a step and fell hard. On Sam. I don't know how people manage to look good on heels. They are damn uncomfortable.
" Yes...yes dad!" I shouted so he could hear me from the other side. "I was just clumsy"
"OK then, dinner is ready," dad said while going down the stairs.
The heels have to wait till another day, I would just make do with flats for now, or try on the two inch heels tomorrow.
After taking off the shoes, I pat Sam on her head as a way of apology, but she jumped off the bed, nursing her sides. Three minutes later, I went down for dinner.
The dinner table is small, with four chairs situated at each corner. Dad was seated, with the woman whose name I forgot. She seemed to be warming up to the house, but I was still struggling to come to terms with her presence.
"You looked good with that dress on," she said, serving. She looked nervous.
"Thanks," I said, looking away and blushing furiously. She sounded cool, maybe I should be nicer to her.
Dad nodded, agreeing with her. "You should look like that more often," he added with a wink.
"Dad!" I hit his arm. We all burst out, laughing.
"I could help with your makeup tomorrow," she said, looking uncertain and I rushed to assure her
"Sure. Thanks," I added and it seemed to cheer her up.
We settled down for dinner but my mind was miles away. I couldn't wait to get to school tomorrow.
