DISTURBia
I'm a virgin in every sense of the word; I've never clubbed, drank a drop of alcohol, never held hands with a guy, never been on a date, and obviously, never been kissed. Who would kiss a girl with braces?Did I forget to mention that I've never been invited to a house party? Maybe that is why I didn't get an invitation to the neighbour's party. The noise of music is deafening, and the pounding in my head is making the cramps worse. I don't want to be the bad guy, so instead of calling the cops, I decide to go there myself and ask them to tune the music down. I put on my glasses and exit the room. In the hallway, the door to dad's room creaks open.
"Where are you going Miss?" He asks, stifling a yawn.
"Just going downstairs dad, my period just started and the cramps are killing me. I need some hot tea"
"Oh! I forget you get those," he said, looking embarrassed
I give him the stink eye "Dad, I'm sixteen, it happens to every girl my age." I say, wrinkling my nose.
"Okay, okay," he says lifting his hands in surrender "but go back to sleep soon, it's late."
"Okay dad," I say, descending the steps slowly.
Immediately I hear the click of the door, I run to the front door, open it gently not to make a sound, then I'm outside.
I regret coming outside immediately. There are boys and girls my age, milling about, wait! A guy is puking on our lawn!
"Hey! Get out of there, that's not a garbage bin. Puke somewhere else."
That got his attention. I take a close look at him and recognize him immediacy. We attend history class together, though I don't remember his name. He seems to recognize me, he whips out his phone immediately and starts taking pictures of me. After five clicks, he mouths 'weirdo' and runs into the neighbour's house.
What did he just call me? Okay, I know I look weird right now. I'm standing in the middle of the lawn barefooted, baggy spongebob pajamas on, my brown her knotted with cartoon clips and my braces on display, red faced, with goggles on. I don't care anymore, I just have to get this noise to stop. I approach the door and lift my fist to knock, but the noise is deafening. There's only one thing to do. I lift my right leg, charge forward and give the door a mighty kick. The door flies open, hitting the wall. That seemed to draw everyone's attention.
I come face to face with everyone, I mean everyone in my school. I'm met with silence, then the next thing flashes and clicks, then sniggering , then laughter. Oh no! I'm going to be the topic of discussion for the week, unless cometh else comes up.
I'm done for.
