I stared at the girl with my mouth wide open. Suddenly I felt under-dressed after I managed to take my eyes of Ray's friend. She's pretty, I mean model-like pretty, with tan skin big soulful brown eyes and a fuller lower lip which is currently painted in red lipstick. She has this sexy curves, but her posture shows she's a confident chic you wouldn't want to mess with. I like her already.
"Ray, can you tell your friend to stop staring? It's kinda embarrassing", the girl said, looking at me warily.
That was when I snapped my mouth shut and looked away, embarrassed.
" sorry", I managed to say.
Ray who had been going througha fashion magazine he picked up from a shelf, looked up and smiled at her.
"Sorry Dace, I should have given you a heads up. This is Missy, and she's weird", he said absentmindedly.
I hit his right hand and blushed, embarrassed. I should do the introductions myself.
" Hi, I'm Missan, but you can call me Missy", I said, stretching my hand for a handshake. A soft but firm hand took mine.
"I'm Candace, and that Dork right there is Jax", she said, pointing outside the glass windows at a guy who was in deep conversation with a guy wearing glasses.
" Oh I see", I said. The guy on glasses looked familiar. Maybe he's from school I concluded, looking away. My gaze landed on Ray who looked furious, but he masked it immediately. He was looking outside at Candace's brother and his friend. 'Oh! He's jealous. Maybe he has a thing for dorks.' I decided to taunt him.
"Jealous much?" I asked, a goofy grin on my face.
He seemed relieved. "Nah! He can talk to whoever he wants, he is not my boyfriend yet, moreover he is my friend's twin brother", he murmured, looking away.
" you seem to have a thing for people in glasses. Is it a fetish of yours?" I asked him, wiggling my eyebrows.
"Eww! No! It's not the dork i***t. It's him", he said, pointing to the other guy. I took a closer look at the other guy. From my vantage point, he looked hot, a total opposite of a dork. I could spot a dimple on his cheek, rich brown hair, almost black, he's approximately 6'1 feet tall with a nice arse. He is far from a dork.
" Okay, okay, I know he doesn't look like a dork, but trust me, he is ", Candace said, steering me from the window.
We closed from school some hours ago and Ray insisted we visit his friend, so, here we were at a salon somewhere downtown. For some reason, they seem to have closed early today, because I saw the 'closed' sign while coming in.
" Ray told me about you and everything that happened with Alexander, and I want to help, if you let me", Candace said while settling me down on a chair.
"It isn't just him, it is the whole of St Rudolph's High. I want them to have a better perspective about me", I say looking down at my chapped fingernails.
" Don't let anybody put you down no matter what. I know it all became worse after that night at the party. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have let Jax throw a party at the house", she said crestfallen.
Immediately it all came rushing back.
"Are you...are you the new neighbour?" I asked wide-eyed. So she knew me.
"Yes. Jax attends school with you" she said, looking everywhere else but me.
Just then, the door opened and the guy stepped in, with the other guy gone. He sauntered in and waved timidly at Ray, who was busy with tabloids. My heart skipped when he came close. He has these blue eyes you can drown in by just looking at them, framed with thick lashes. Now I know why Ray had a crush on him. He was handsome. I managed to focus back on the conversation with Candace.
"What..?" I asked, lost.
"I was asking about your choice of a makeover. Would you like us to go shopping for clothes? Or shoes first?" She asked, looking pointedly at my feet. I wore Crocs today. And they're black this time.
