The Weight Of The World
As Adaline tapped her foot to the music blaring through her headphones, her eyes darted over the blank page in front of her. Usually, when her writer's block got this bad, music helped. Today, however, the fast pace of her favorite song only worsened Adaline's anxiety. She never really was good with deadlines, but when there was no deadline her computer desk could be found covered in pages half filled with beginnings to all different unfinished stories, some of their endings waiting to be revised, some already written into her computer, and others yet to be written at all. Obviously, Adaline was no stranger to writing, but no matter how much time she still had left, she just couldn't focus. Her mother had tried everything to help her focus, not excluding ADHD medication that seemed to only slow her down and make her generally more zombie-like in her day to day life, needless to say, she stopped taking that medication very shortly after it was prescribed to her.
