Chapter 6

Ryan woke up the next morning feeling down he was supposed to have gone to the university but he chooses to go see Anna since he had not gotten to meet her yesterday.

Arriving at the building he knocked and it was Alex who came to open the door, "what do you want? Is it not enough that you hurt my best friend and now she can't even talk to me" Alex said fuming mad.

"I messed up, but please let me talk to her I can explain everything to her" Ryan was ready to do anything if only to talk to Anna. He could not envision a future without Anna in it even if it means having to kneel in front of her he was ready to do it as long as he got Anna back.

Alex looked him up and down as if she was looking at unwanted pets, then she let him inside.

"Wait here I am going to go call Anna, and don't even think that I have already forgiven you"

Anna was still in bed but she wasn't asleep she couldn't find the will to wake up knowing that there was nothing to look up to in the day. Ryan was no longer there, she remembered the way he used to treat her in the short period they were together. Every morning he would make breakfast for her before he went to work and he made sure she ate.

Ryan would kiss her on the forehead before going out something which he never forgot to do every morning and evening when he came back from work. It felt like they were an old married couple every time he did that.

She heard voices from the living room and wondered who Alex was talking to, that was right before Alex came knocking on her door

"Anna are awake? Someone is here to see you" Alex said knocking on her door

"Come in Alex" when she came in she stood there looking nervous and she tried avoiding Anna's eyes, by her actions she knew who was here to see her even without being told. Ryan had finally come after her, she wondered what took him so long, was he with Brenda all this time had he come to finally break up with and tell her that he was in love with someone else.

It hurt so much to think of a life without Ryan she had managed to fall for him hard that she didn't see herself anyone else if he was to end what they had shared Anna knew she would just grow old and have to be content with lots of cats as any old maid would.

"Look Anna I agree the guy doesn't deserve you but you have to talk to him so you can be able to end things and move on with your life, "Alex said as she sat by her bed

"That is the thing Alex I don't think I can let him go, I have fallen for him, and thinking of a life without him is hard," Anna said trying to keep her voice steady.

She felt like crying but couldn't afford to look weak in front of Alex

"He is in love with someone else Alex and thinking about it makes me feel like dying, I can't remember how we used to be but deep down inside my heart I have strong feelings for him"

Alex sat there listening to her friend cry over him and she felt guilty for having the lying to go on if only she had not allowed Dr Gill to take Anna with him this wouldn't be happening.

"You still have to talk to him for you to put it behind you and move on with your life Anna, I'm not saying that you should forgive him or anything, I just want you to listen to whatever he has to say then after that you can decide what to do"

After saying that Alex left her alone with hopes that she would come out soon. Alex found Ryan sitting in the living room and looking nervous

Looking at him standing there after waiting for about half an hour Ryan saw Anna coming down the stairs; he saw her swollen eyes and knew he was the cause of all the crying. Ryan hated the fact that he has hurt Anna and only hoped that she would be able to forgive him.

looking handsome made Anna's heartbeat fast she felt like she was going to faint just by how handsome he looked she wanted to run to him and kiss him but she remembered that he was not hers and he has never been.

He looked like he had not gotten to sleep for a long time and his hair which was always neat looked unkempt like he had been hand through it.

Ryan saw Anna descending the stairs and he was struck by her unwavering beauty, her eyes were swollen and her nose was red and he knew that she had been crying and hated himself for hurting her.

"What are you doing here Ryan? Anna asked trying to present a calm front

Ryan took a step closer to her he wanted to take her into his arms and never let her go, but he knew she wouldn't let him come any closer.

"I came here yesterday in the hopes of talking to you but you weren't in" Ryan looked her in the eye as he was speaking he wanted her to see the truth in his eyes

"I was so worried about you Anna, I thought something happened to you" he tried to hold her hand only for her to step back

"well you shouldn't be worrying about me Ryan I'm not your problem anymore, you should be worrying about your girlfriend Brenda," she said trying to keep away the tears " I just wished you told me before you went ahead and had a relationship with her"

" I just wanna know one thing Ryan, was it because I was not intimate with you that you decided to go to someone's arms?"

Ryan was surprised by that revelation he had not known what made Anna leave the house and now hearing her talk about how she felt. He stood there wondering how he was going to explain to her that she was the only woman he ever wanted, he couldn't see his life and future with no mone else than Anna.

Looking at her so upset and trying not to cry broke his heart, he had done this to her Anna had always been a jovial and lively person and the person standing in front of him. He had sworn to never make her cry since the time he took her home from the hospital, and now she was standing in front of him with swollen red eyes and he hated himself for having done this to her.

"I swear Anna I haven't been with any woman since I met you, and I can never even dream of cheating on you in any way, believe me, Anna, I would never do that to you"

looking at him Anna stood still trying to comprehend the was not cheating how comes he was always whispering da and trying to hide things from her. She had seen them so many times talking with Brenda holding his hand and even her hands on his chest if there really was nothing between them then why were they that intimate with each other like lovers.

Anna didn't know what to think anymore and she didn't know what to believe, did she believe Ryan? or believe what she had witnessed?. Looking back to how Ryan had been treating her nicely, even her she couldn't believe that he would cheat but Brenda had been all over him every time they go to the hospital and kept calling him at odd hours.

"How can I believe you, Ryan? how can I when you two have been all over each other at the hospital and she keeps calling you at odd hours, you always make excuses for actions" she said with so much anger in her voice

"I understand that you are stuck with me Ryan instead of being with the perfect Brenda who is your age, if you had told me that you were in love with her I would have let you go because that is how much I love you Ryan"

Ryan was happy to hear that she loved him and he went t, it hurt to see her not want to be close to him he was hurting not having her in his arms and he didn't know how to make her believe him. Brenda had been blackmailing him with the treat that she was gonna tell Anna the truth about not being in a relationship. Brenda had overheard him speaking to Alex on the phone about their fake relationship with Anna and she had taken it upon herself to make his life hell.
