Walking into the Skimlink office building, Husuella smiled as she looked around. Maybe it was time she got a little bit of colour into her employers office. Somehow it was time she took matters into her own hands and taught this guy a lesson ‘The Power of A Woman,’ she whistled as she stayed at the far back of the elevator while everyone kept staring at her. She couldn’t have been any happier that the music was turned down and she could get time to contemplate her soon to be entertainment.
Putting on a miserable and dejected face and posture, she walked into Kaydens office to find him already picking out stuff for the business meeting he had in Australia. Turning around, Kayden looked at the lady standing in front of him and immediately something stirred in him. This was all his doing, she had once been a jovial, vibrant being who was excited to take down everyone who came across her path to something and now she seemed to even be scared of speaking her mind. “Sir, can I ask you something?” Husuella asked staring down at the floor as if thinking whether it was worth the trouble. “Never mind,” she said and turned around to go but Kayden quickly reached out and held her back, “its okay, you can you don’t have to shy off, have a seat,” he rushed and pushed her down the seat before sitting ontop of the table.
Ten minutes seemed to pass while she just kept quit counting her fingers on her lap while Kaydens patience started growing thin. He felt like he was suddenly willing to do anything within his power just to take her back to the woman she used to be while Husuella started enjoying this. “why do you do it, why do you make it a point to hurt me in every possible way?” Kayden had nothing to say to that, he felt like air was suddenly being knocked out of his chest and that was when he came to a realization, he was not as strong as he thought he was, when it came to Husuella, it was like an airborne disease that quickly spread through his body and he was not able to take it.
“First you had to mess with my dignity as a woman, then you had to come around and shatter all my values and beliefs as a woman, every little one of them that I tried to hold on to,” by now tears had started rolling down her cheeks “and then you kept playing with my feelings in front of people then when I just thought that would be enough for you, you just hard to take your games down to my heart? What is it going to take to make you feel like you have done enough? Are you happy now or does it make you feel like a man?” by now Husuella had gone into full crying mode.
Kayden felt like an arrow had been sent right through his heart when he saw her brake down in his presence. She was a strong woman who would never succumb to any pressure to show a man her she was weak, maybe he really did a number on her. He quickly crotched down and picked her up bridle style before going around the table and sitting on his chair. He slowly sat her on his lap and moved her face into his chest as he slowly started to rub her back and move around the chair making it swing.
‘Husuella had never felt a sense of relief since she had started working at skimlink, all her life she had grown up thinking shading tears in the presence of a male was a show of weakness and something she wouldn’t dare engage in but maybe she was wrong. This felt so much surreal, like a much more stronger force, something she could use to obtain everything she wanted and top a hard muscled chest and arms to the cherry and she would be damned if she didn’t maximise its application’ with that thought in mind, she smiled and decided to enjoy this a little more but falling asleep wasn’t in her plans.
Kayden looked down and noticed his poor little secretary had cried herself to sleep. He could say that her being in his arms was nothing but he would be lying to himself. All such moments, pulling her into his arms at night and any other such moments had felt completely flawless. Maybe he would find those shooters and thank them somehow. He had had both girls items and clothing moved out immediately, the coach had been placed in the gym, the two beds in one empty room which Jojita had named hers, to say she was excited about not having to pay rent was an understatement. According to her, he could put it in the bill for having frustrated her best friend if he wanted and it was already a paid debt, although she rarely used the room and would spend most of her nights with Gogina but would still want no one there.
Kayden smiled as he slowly put Husuella on the bed and covered her with a light shawl since the temperatures were pretty high. He wondered how she could sleep all the way from his office to bed, she must have been a heavy sleeper. He had ordered his one o his bodyguards to drop off her bag. He picked a pen and wrote a note leaving it on the side table with a credit card before picking up his luggage and leaving for the airport.
Husuella woke up and found herself in Kaydens room, she was about to freak out but noticed the note and read it, was this guy nuts, how could he give her four days off work till he came back? Well despite everything, she still could not say no to any day off work besides she did not ask for it, and maybe she could blow his card and get herself a few more pairs of canvases but this time expensive once since the bill wasn’t on her. she was going to do him a favor that will teach him to never give any girl a credit card without limits.
The next morning, Kayden received his phone and smiled when he heard who was on the other line. It had kept ringing a few times but he ignored it because it was a strange number. First he was greeted by yellings before he got down to business. “Well I was just thinking that your office and house are so dull they need a little bit of colour and I was wondering if you could approve and help me choose the colours,” Kayden smiled and reminded himself to save her number. She had busted his phone just to ask him if she could add colour to his life, well look at that. He kept smiling like a love struck mermaid.
“Well sure, just choose the colour, I trust your choice,” Husuella smiled, just what she needed to hear while Kayden on the other side felt obliged to say that in an attempt to rid himself of the guilt of everything he had put her through, besides he had been to her apartment before and the coluor combination wasn’t that bad, he had to admit the girls had a good taste for colours.
“Okay, thank you for believing in me, I wont disappoint you I promise,” and with that she hang up leaving kayden to sigh in relief. Well that was to say the list a good start, somehow he felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Surprises was to say the last thing kayden had expected to run into a few days later when he walked into his house. Placing his document bag on the couch, he felt the strong smell of fresh paint and his eyes were drawn to the walls of his sitting room area. A very dark shade of green that felt like he was living inside the forest greeted him with a few splashes of carelessly placed white paint, maybe his little sister had splashed the white paint in one, two and three places all on the wall.
Well this could just be a case of misguidance on the part of the painter, maybe he just need to give some suggestions but she did try, he would just complement her with a few words of advice because he did not need to feel like he lived in nature and his favourite brown coulour was still preferable. As he walked up stairs, he noticed the green colour still dominated but when he opened the door to his room, he was left with his mouth wide open. There on the bed lay his beautiful personal assistant with some little paint splashed on her face and a beautiful smile on her face as if she had done the job of her life.
Looking around the room, he finally noticed the dark heavy shade of pink his bedroom had obtained. He wanted to throw everyone out and repaint it himself but one look at Husuella sleeping peacefully tangled in pink bed sheets, blanket and pajamas and he lost it. In as much as he wanted to trash this whole room and throw away the now pink curtains included, he could not deny she seemed to have worked hard and maybe he could bear the pain of living pink for a few more years before he thought of a new colour. Slowly moving towards the bed, he found himself being tempted to just touch her, maybe just a little, that won’t hurt right? And that is exactly what he did, he caressed her almost chubby cheeks making her get up in panic and, he was wrong, it could hurt much more and that is the lesson he learnt the hard way when her head connected with his delicately outlined lower jaw.
“What the…” he was just about to utter a string of curses when he remembered he was the one being creepy. After a few profernities were exchanged majorly directed towards the former, it was now time for some serious adult talk and how she had pulled him through the entire house exclaiming and claiming how much she loved the new structure not putting into account the emotions of her partner told him the subject of discrediting the colours might as well be left for another day.
The following day Kayden woke up to realize he was already late for work, coming in late might as well piss of the new investors he was bringing in to the group, not that he really needed them but he stood to benefit more from the deal he was about to strike. Walking into an office newly repainted with a dark baby pink colour with his guests sitting around staring at him was all it take for him to snap, the fact that the person who made all that possible was standing right there didn’t make it better.
“I told you to redecorate this room not to make it look like a child play, I need this place back to its original colour in two hours,” he spelt out in slow dangerous tone before motioning to the others to tag along who threw Husuella sympathetic looks before walking out. Husuella smiled, the priceless look on his face was something she was willing to pay for to see again. Picking up the water bottles, four note books and pens from the store room, Husuella followed the four men to the conference room and slowly opened the door afraid she would cause disturbance incase they had started their meeting, “she is a nobody, just my annoying secretary,” she smiled but the next words she heard after entering the room made her hold her breath and freeze.
“You think I could pay her to bend over my office desk or something?” one of the men who seemed to be in his mid forty said making all the others to laugh, “Maybe a few hundreds,” that came from his dear employer himself. The items she was holding in her hand dropped making the attention shift back to her. While the others seemed amused, Kaydens eyes were wide as he stared at her, that was the worst timing and most stupid joke he had ever made in an attempt to light the mood before his meeting and the moment he saw tears start rolling down her cheeks before she slowly raised her hand and placed it above her heart, he knew this could as well be the worst mistake of his life.
Husuella bolted out of the room picking up her bag along the way before running into the already open elevator thanks to her coworker who was just walking in. All the way to the ground floor, for the first time in her elevator ride she felt claustrophobic as people kept pilling into the small box. Soon she was pushed to the back and although this was good enough to draw attention from her, she couldn’t have wished to have had the elevator all to herself any other time.
Kayden watched the door close and suddenly everything seized to matter, he knew that he had to get to her, what for was a question he would answer once he was standing in front of her. He could only hope he had something to say to her by then. “I’ll be back in a minute,” he said as he rushed towards the door closing it behind him. He took the opposite direction towards the bathroom and just as he was about to walk into the washroom, he saw her rush into the elevator and before he could act, the doors closed and just like that she was gone. He rushed towards the private elevator but it was still in sixth floor and if he had to catch up to her, he knew he couldn’t go down the stairs.
And just as he walked out of the main door, he saw a glimpse of her teary eyes inside a taxi as she looked back one last time and wiped her eyes then looked ahead and she was gone. “Stop,” he yelled but deep down he knew it was too late. Walking back into the conference room with a heavy heart and spent the rest of the day grumpy, he did get the deal but when he got home that night and walked into his room, he felt a hole inside, something he knew only she could feel and for the first time since she had left that day, he broke down and wept inside the confines of his own room. He wept for the fact that he was so stupid to realise, that he had hurt her so much yet she still stayed, for the fact that for the first time since his mother had left he had felt complete again and yet he just had to throw it all away.
He remembered how the taxi driver had called him to come down because his secretary had left something for him only to be told to pay. He didn’t even argue suspecting he had placed a much higher bid, he just opened his wallet and payed for the fare giving him a huge tip. Maybe he just felt like a way of making up for everything he had put her through but he was so worn out to think or act. Somehow he knew that she wasn’t coming back and that the next weeks in the office were going to be the most difficult ones in his entire life.
