Love Between Classes

She came to college to build a future. He came to forget his past. Neither expected to fall in love.

Maya Bennett has always believed that college is about hard work, good grades, and creating a life she can be proud of. Romance is the last thing on her mind—especially not with the most popular guy on campus.

Then she meets Ethan Carter.

Ethan is charming, confident, and seemingly perfect. Everyone knows his name, everyone wants his attention, and every girl dreams of being his girlfriend. But behind his easy smile is a secret he's determined to keep buried.

Maya and Ethan couldn't be more different. Their first meeting is a disaster, their personalities clash, and somehow they keep finding themselves together—between classes, in the library, at campus parties, and during late-night study sessions.

What starts as an unlikely friendship slowly becomes something neither of them can ignore.

But just when Maya begins to believe Ethan might truly love her, his past comes back to campus.

A secret.

A betrayal.

A girl from his past.

And a truth that could destroy everything they've built.

Can their love survive the pressure of college, jealousy, secrets, and the choices waiting for them after graduation?

Or will **Love Between Classes** become nothing more than a beautiful memory?

Main Characters

Maya Bennett

Age: 19

Major: Journalism

Maya is intelligent, independent, hardworking, and a little guarded. She grew up believing that she has to work twice as hard to get what she wants. She isn't interested in campus popularity or meaningless relationships.

She's sarcastic when she's nervous, stubborn when challenged, and fiercely loyal to the people she loves.

Her biggest weakness? She has trouble admitting when she's falling for someone.

And Ethan is about to become the one person she can't stay away from.

Ethan Carter

Age: 21

Major: Business Management

Ethan is the golden boy of Westbridge University. He's handsome, confident, athletic, and comes from a wealthy family. To everyone else, his life looks perfect.

It isn't.

Ethan carries a painful secret from his past that has made him afraid of trusting people. He hides his vulnerability behind jokes, flirting, and an effortless smile.

Maya is the first person who refuses to be impressed by him.

At first, she frustrates him.

Then she intrigues him.

And eventually, she becomes the person he can't imagine losing.

Sofia Ramirez

Age: 19

Maya's roommate and best friend.

Sofia is outspoken, funny, protective, and hopelessly romantic. She's the first person to notice the chemistry between Maya and Ethan—and she refuses to let Maya pretend otherwise.

She becomes Maya's biggest supporter, but she has secrets of her own.

Lucas Carter

Age: 22

Major: Finance

Ethan's older brother.

Lucas is quieter and more serious than Ethan. He knows the truth about Ethan's past and believes his brother should stay away from Maya.

But his reasons aren't as simple as they appear.

Chloe Anderson

Major: Marketing

Beautiful, popular, and confident, Chloe has history with Ethan.

She isn't ready to accept that Ethan has moved on.

When Maya enters Ethan's life, Chloe sees her as a threat—and she's willing to do whatever it takes to get Ethan back.

Daniel Brooks

Chapter One: The Boy in My Seat
Maya The first thing I learned about Westbridge University was that the campus was enormous. The second thing I learned was that being late to your first lecture was a terrible idea. I hurried across the courtyard, clutching my notebook against my chest while trying not to trip over my own feet. “Move, move, move,” I muttered. My phone said 9:03. My lecture had started at nine. Perfect. I pushed open the doors of the humanities building and rushed down the hallway. Students were already disappearing into classrooms, and the professor's voice echoed through the walls. I finally found Room 204. I took a deep breath before opening the door. Every head turned. Wonderful. “Miss Bennett,” the professor said, looking over his glasses. “How nice of you to join us.” A few students laughed. “Sorry,” I whispered. “Take a seat.” I scanned the room. There was exactly one empty chair. Near the window. I hurried toward it and dropped into the seat, trying to make myself invisible. Then I noticed the person sitting beside me. A guy. Tall. Dark hair. Expensive-looking watch. White shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He was staring at me. Not casually. Actually staring. “What?” I whispered. His lips curved into a smile. “Nothing.” “Then stop looking at me.” “I wasn't aware I needed permission.” I blinked. Who was this guy? I turned toward the professor and tried to ignore him. For the next ten minutes, I focused on taking notes. Then a folded piece of paper landed on my notebook. I looked at the guy beside me. He was still facing the professor. I unfolded the paper. You know you're sitting in my seat, right? I glanced at the chair. There was no name on it. I wrote beneath his message. Then you should have gotten here earlier. I folded it and pushed it back. A moment later, it returned. I was here first. I frowned. I wrote: And yet I'm sitting here. Seems like you lost. He looked at me. This time, his smile was bigger. What's your name, trouble? I should have ignored him. Instead, I wrote: Maya. He took the pen from his desk and scribbled something. Then he pushed the paper toward me. Ethan. I stared at the name. For some reason, it felt familiar. Before I could ask why, the professor suddenly stopped speaking. “Since you two seem to have something more interesting to discuss…” The entire room went silent. “…perhaps you'd like to share it with everyone?” My face burned. “No, Professor.” Ethan leaned back in his chair, completely relaxed. “Definitely not.” The professor sighed and continued the lecture. I glared at Ethan. He whispered, “Worth it.” I shook my head. This was going to be the longest semester of my life.I didn't know it yet, but the boy sitting beside me would become much more than the stranger who stole my attention during a boring Monday morning lecture. He would become my best friend. My biggest heartbreak. And eventually…The love I never saw coming.
